We have stayed in manh HomeAway apartments and villas across Europe the past few years, but never have we had such a terrific host as Todd, who is the property manager for this really charming, light, wonderfully stocked and furnished apartment in a really central, raffish part of Hamburg. He was waiting at the front door when we arrived, helped carry our bags up the stairs, and then showed us around the apartment and how everything worked, and gave us very good tips on where to shop, et cetera. He was not at all intrusive - when we needed to know something we'd e-mail him (he lives one floor down) and he'd e-mail back really promptly. So we never felt he was looking over our shoulder at all, but we did feel that extra bit secure and confident. He's like one of those really terrific concierges you get at the top hotels, except you don't have to share him with hundreds of other guests! The apartment was spotless. Todd had some milk, bread, cheese, butter, jams and wine there to welcome us - tea and coffee, of course - it's like arriving at the home of some really tidy, generous friends who have lent their house to you for a few days. The neigbourhood is so similar to many gentrification neighbourhoods in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland - a fun mix of people, very safe, super cafes and restaurants - Cox is stunning! Like the best Melbourne restaurant. - all within very easy walking distance. We walked into the city, to the galleries and the big stores, every day - about 10 minutes away. We could not have had a more perfect place to stay. Out the back of the apartment is a mediation centre, and occasionally you hear the chanting - it's so soothing, I said they do all the work and you reap the benfits! I could not recommend a place to stay more highly than this - and mostly because Todd makes everything so pleasant and easy, and his apartment is so well cared for.

I stayed here in April for a long weekend and it was perfect- the apartment is very close to the train so it's a great jumping off point to get around Hamburg. And if you don't feel like getting on the train, the immediate neighborhood has some great bars and restaurants. The apartment was immaculate and comfortably furnished, with a welcome basket left for us in the kitchen and fresh flowers around the house. The kitchen had all the pans, dishware and utensils we needed. Todd was a kind and considerate host who even thought to ask about my well-being when he bumped into my boyfriend the day after our arrival (I had arrived in poor condition following a rough flight). He is extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and Hamburg and while he's always on hand if you need something, he's otherwise totally unobtrusive. I highly, highly recommend staying here and will absolutely be coming back the next time I'm in Hamburg.

This apartment is perfectly placed near the centre and in easy distance to two U-bahn stations. The neighbourhoud is multicultural and quite colourfull. Easy to find good restaurants and take out. The host make you feel very welcome. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon - and he had even bought some breakfast for the following day. Very nice, since we did not realize that all shops are closed on Sundays.

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It's a spacious, cozy, quiet end very clean appartment. We were welcomed by Todd and he showed us the appartment, the one on the top floor. Everything is exactly as it is shown in the pictures. No disappointment there. The location is perfect. The train station is a six block walk and presto you are in the center of town. The S-bahn station is only two blocks away. And for dinner it is just an easy three block walk. I would recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a great stay and a home away from home.

This is a GREAT place to stay when you visit Hamburg. It is like a home away from home. Everything is so close, the stores and cafe's and the public transportation. It is a great value and Todd is a perfect host. He kept in touch with us before our arrival and met us at the apartment. The accomodations were great, a perfect Eurpean apartment and it is exactly like the pictures. The fresh flowers were a perfect touch. Next time we visit Hamburg we will definitely stay here.

This apartment was EXACTLY as described. It was cute and comfy and convienient to everything. Close to the trains and restaurants and shops. It is a third floor walk up, over a store front. Todd (the owner) was GREAT! He met us there and walked us through the apartment to show us everything. He left us with a bottle of wine and fresh flowers in every room! Staying in the apartment made us feel as though we were locals. I would rent this again and would highly reccomend it to anyone going to Hamburg.

Our experience at the apartment was fantastic! The apartment was clean, nicely decorated, conveniently located, and had all the comforts of "home". Todd is absoutely wonderful and so helpful. We would recommend this apartment to our friends and family without hesitation.

We stayed in the smaller of the two apartments, not the one pictured and it was very comfortable and well maintained. We liked Todd's attention to detail with the fresh coffee supplied and a bottle of wine which was well received after a long drive. Definitely recommend to others, there are also good restaurants nearby that can be reached by foot and the subway is also close by foot, we didn't have any need to even use our car at all.

What a lovely welcome from Todd when we arrived at the Hamburg Hideaway. We stayed in the top apartment and it was just perfect. A lot more spacious than we thought it would be and so clean and comfortable. Lots of personal touches like fresh flowers in the rooms that made it even more homely. There is really no need to bring anything with you as towels,soap, cleaning materials, etc are available for you to use. Todd lets you know that he is available at anytime for anything which was good to know and Gunter in the shop downstairs is so nice and helpful too. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and two supermarkets either end of the street. Our car was parked outside the apartment (free parking!)but we didn't need to use it at all during our stay as everything was within walking distance. We would highly recommend The Hamburg Hideaway to everyone as it is so much better than a hotel, excellent value for money and of course a wonderful host. Thanks Todd!

When we arrived at the Hamburg Hideaway we were made to feel so welcome by Todd. We had the top floor apartment and it was perfect. It was very comfortable, clean, modern, and a lot more spacious than we thought it was going to be. The personal touches like fresh flowers in the rooms made it feel quite homely. There really is no need to bring anything with you as towels, soap, cleaning materials etc are all provided. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and supermarkets at either end of the street. Our car was parked right outside the apartment (free parking) but we didn't have any use for it during our stay as everything was within walking distance for us. We would recommend to do the bus tour round Hamburg first as it is so informative. We also think "The Miniatur Wunderland" should not be missed but allow plenty of time to see it all as it's the biggest model railway in the world! After a busy sightseeing day it was nice to come back to the Hamburg Hideaway to relax. This was so much better than staying in a hotel and good value for money too.Todd lets you know he is available at anytime for you and is such a caring host. Cheers!

We stayed in the first floor apartment for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment itself was in immaculate condition, beautifully arranged and ideally positioned to walk into the city centre within ten minutes. Todd Curts was waiting for us on arrival to greet us, carry our luggage up the one flight of stairs and introduce us to the apartment, with fresh flowers in every room and a bottle of complimentary wine (excellent). Todd stayed in contact with us throughout our stay and assured us any enquiries would be attended to immediately. We found three supermarkets within walking short distance covering all shopping needs. We can highly recommend anyone to stay here and we even hope to return again soon ourselves. My family and I were very surprised when we stayed at this apartment, the place is much better than the website pictures. The apartment is right in the center of the city and close to the train station. The manager was very helpful and we would definitely stay there anytime we're back in Hamburg. Much better than a hotel room and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

We’ve spent four fabulous days in Hamburg. What made our trip so fantastic was mostly the fact that we’ve been able to stay at this beautiful apartment and meet the charming host of it – Todd. He made us feel at home from the minute we first saw him. He’s a host you can truly rely on – no matter what comes up. The apartment was just phenomenal – all neatly furnished and decorated, seeming just having popped out of a lifestyle magazine. And even though we’ve never been there before, it felt like coming back home. All you had to bring was your personal stuff and food, everything else – like linen, towels, shampoo and even coffee – had been taken care of by Todd in advance. Vacation at Todd’s place is like being in a bubble, where you can switch your head off, leave all the everyday life worries behind and truly enjoy the moment – whether at the harbour of this beautiful city, in a little café in the “Karolinenviertel” or at “home” with a nice glass of red wine. We have stayed in the middle apartment for two weeks, and now in the top apartment for 7 weeks. Both apartments provide everything possibly needed for a longer stay, and are situated perfectly for walking access to downtown Hamburg, St Georg and just 3 UBahn stops to the Hamburg Staatsoper and Hamburg's best shopping area. A huge grocery store is a 30 second walk from the apartment, washing machine, dishwasher, great kitchen, quiet bedrooms, and tv with interesting English stations to choose from - NOT just CNN and BBC World for once! Todd goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and makes it clear that he is available at any time if ANYTHING at all is needed. A perfect host and a perfect home away from home in Hamburg.

Zuerst dachte ich beim Lesen der Kommentare, dass Todd nur die positiven Kommentare hier veröffentlicht, aber jetzt nachdem wir einige Tage in seiner Wohnung in St.Georg wohnen durften, konnnten wir uns selbst davon überzeugen, dass alles richtig ist, was auf diesen seiten steht! Es fehlte an nichts! Todd war für uns da zu jeder Tages-und Nachtzeit! Die gesamte Wohnung ist nicht nur perfekt ausgestattet und dekoriert, sie ist auch super sauber!Es hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen! Wir hatten zusammen mit unseren amerikanischen Freunden Gary und Carolyn enorm viel Spaß, wozu auch Todd beigetragen hat. Wir können nur die BESTNOTE "1" bzw. "A" vergeben.

If you are looking for a flat that is located within driving or bus transit distance of Hamburg, then Todd's flat is the place. From the beginning, Todd made us feel so welcomed. Todd stayed in contact with us prior to our arrival and during our stay. What a fabulous host. His flat (built in the 1800's) is a beautiful home. Todd provides all the ammendities that you would need. Fresh flowers, coffee, linens...personal touches that you normally won't get at a hotel. Once we arrived, Todd made us feel so comfortable. Showed us around the flat, provided us tips regarding parking, provided tips on where to shop or eat. Introduced us to the owner of a fabulous men's clothing store which is located below the flat. If you are looking for a rather quite place to sleep, a place that is centerally located in Hamburg, then give Todd a call and hope that his flats are available.

Beautiful and spacious apartment decorated in fresh, inviting colors and eclectic decor - we loved our stay at Hamburg Hideaway! Also, the location - just blocks from the main train station - made arriving via rail a breeze... and catching the Airport Shuttle even easier. Will definitely stay there again when we return!

Both the flat and Todd were great. It's obvious he really cares that guests feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. We've rented flats all over Europe, and this is one of the best. Great decorating without being stuffy or making you feel you need to be overly careful. Very nice furnishings, good TV, stereo, radio, etc. Large, eat-in kitchen, fully equipped. What else...well, a sense of style. Oh, and most importantly, it's quiet, something you can't put too high a premium on in European cities! All-in-all, a great experience. Beats the heck out of a corporate hotel at more than twice the price!

This charming flat was truly the icing on the cake during our stay in Hamburg. It gave my sister and I something else to look forward to after a long day/night out. As this appartment was already booked Todd offered us the one on the first floor with a similar floor plan. We were really surprised by how tastefull the rooms had been decorated with furniture and colours. Each room had fresh flowers that really made you feel at home in the moment you entered the flat. We experienced great hospitality and support by our host. The flat is really worth the price. Nice neighbourhood with a lot of different cultures to experience - restaurants and shops. Close to the central station and in walking distance to the shopping area and pedestrian zone. We highly recommend this place and are going to stay there at any time again when visiting Hamburg. Great place! Great location! Comfortable and absolultely the cleanest place we have stayed in! Todd makes you feel at home the minute you enter the apartment. I stayed in the apartment in early December 2006, and I honestly don't think we could have found better accommodation. The place is right in the centre of town, within 5 minutes walk of the Hauptbahnhof. The apartment is well-furnished, and was clean and with fresh flowers. The furniture is in great condition, and the kitchen is well-fitted, with a microwave, oven, fridge and freezer provided. The property manager is very friendly, and incredibly helpful. Our great visit to Hamburg was made all the better by having a really excellent place to stay. Thank you!

I rented Todds flat first in july 2007, because I was looking for flats in HH. From end of August I was happy to have it again for a mounth. The flat is very nice - the pictures showed a nice flat, but in fact it's better - my friends very surprised - they didn't expect "that much".... The Street is a nice street with atmosfere. ST.Georg you either like or not - but it is an area that is changing - to the better (it is a in place to move for the "Hamburgers") Well hope - my comment will help you to decide if you like to rent the flat. One thing is sure - it is worth the price. So if you don't like Hotels this is it in Hamburg.

We stayed at Todd's wonderful apartment for 5 days. He is a great host & only too keen to please. The apartment is very clean and is fully furnished. It is only a 10-15 minute walk to downtown, a supermarket is at the end of the street. We'd definitely stay at this apt again in Hamburg. Wi-fi is handy too.
