Oh how we love this place!! We found this great escape 5 yrs ago. It is centrally located and huge get away for our big family. We love the fishing there. We go every July. Last yr 2010 was our best yr ever. We found the stripers right out of the cove area. We have 16 people who come here every year. The owners of the house are excellant and they always are there when we get there, leave detailed info on what we would ever possibly need. The 2 houses are awesome, you never no so many of us are all there. Plenty of room for everyone. The pool is lovely. All the kiddos love it, its their favorite thing to do. We have to pull them out at night!!The docks are great and convienant, we put our boats in 1 time and don't have to worry about them again. Crabbing there is good to, we put the traps out and by the end of the week we have plenty. Its very quiet and our family loves that, kinda makes you feel like you are on your own island. I highly recommend Heron Cove, like I said we have been going there for the past 5 yrs. have fun

First off, I have been in the hotel industry for 14 years and have heard everything with rental properties that you can imagine. I tend to stay at 4-5 star hotels but wanteds something very relaxed this trip but nice. Bringing kids I did not want anything too lavish, as I didn't care to pay for broken things! This place to me is perfect. And just what you would expect for a waterfront home in MD. My family and I stayed in June 2011 and had the best family vacation. We are from DE and were looking to go somewhere close (driving with kids) and after several weeks of looking, we decided on Heron Cove. It was perfect in every way. There is a bait shop close by but a short ride to town you can find anything else you need. The property had lots of area to play for the kids, very nice pool and very roomy house. The mater bedroom is very big. Hot tub was nice. The best part of all was the boat dock. We brought 2 boats and crabbed everday. One morning when I got up the guys had been out and had 2 bushel! When everyone asked me what I did on vacation I basically said "nothing". Most of my time was spent staring at the water, watching the kids play and having a margarita with my crabs. Can't wait to go back, may do 2 weeks straight.

A wonderful experience

My wife and I spent two weeks @ Heron Cove along with two of our adult children and their families. The worst part of the time spent was when it came time to go home to PA.....I don't know that any of us have ever had a nicer time in such a beautiful setting!! Even our dog loved it. Thank you. Cambridge, MD is a lovely town with some nice restaurants and a nautical museum.

A great Family Vacation

Our large family spent a week at Heron Cove and had a great time. Our ages ranged from 2 to 77. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The kids had a great time on the dock crabbing and even enjoyed floating in the cove. The pool was great and the hot tub was truly enjoyed by everyone. Part of the family spent a day in Ocean City and found it to be an easy 45 minute drive. There are flies and mosquitos at times, but that seems reasonable being that you are located next to water. The living room did get a little warm at times but certainly not a deal breaker. The property manager responded quickly to any issue that arose and at one point just stopped by to see if everything was ok. The owner provided all kind of sports equipment if interested but we found ourselves just enjoying family time, evening fires and eating crabs. We took a family vote and we intend to return to Heron Cove next year. Thank You

FALSE ADVERTISING!!!

Location description is a lie- actually NOT in St. Michaels but 45 mins away in Cambridge. Property was filthy, including too much mold, to the point that we became ill. Kitchen infested with ants and guest house infested with an array of bugs. Probably because the bathroom window is separated and not installed properly, using duct tape to hold it together. Property manager did come back after complaints to clean the bathrooms and other filth, and recaulk the moldy shower just covering the mold and not removing it. I still had to drive 30 min to closest store to buy more cleaning supplies and bug spray to make the place acceptable. BTW- NO CENTRAL AIR and not enough window units. So much humidity because of this. Living room temperature was miserable with no unit in the room. Even with 3 fans running could not get comfortable. The new pool has not been properly cared for. Manager tried to tell us it was cloudy because it had been so sunny. Another lie. As a former pool owner, I know it had not been properly cleaned. The entire edge has a brown ring!! Just dirty everywhere. The views were absolutely lovely, if thats all you are looking for. There is nothing to do within a 30 mi radius. No beaches to swim in within an hour drive!! For the price, I would definitely go elsewhere!

Owner response:The renters were told of the location. There are no vacation rentals allowed in St. MIchaels, and Talbot county has a 12 person limit and they had 20 people. When i signed up for the listing all they had as an option was St. Michaels area. I provide every guest with the address, in fact it is on the contract and there is a map on the website. I also tell them to map quest it so they know the location. This is a country home and when people from the city often unaware- leave food out that is what happens -you get ants. My property manager and my father spent every day down at the house catering to every whim of these guests so i am very surprised to hear that they did not enjoy their stay. The pool was fine, myself and my father are both licensed pool operators, there were 20+ people using the pool everyday it will get cloudy and will get a brown ring if you don't shower before getting in. As far as the AC is concerned all they had to do was ask about the AC and we would have put another one in -there was an unusual heat wave this year as i am sure most people know. We always let our guests know that all they have to do was ask and we will fix it. The closest large store is 15 min away check map quest, and there is a country store less than 1 mile from the house. They were never promised there were beaches it says on our web-site that the closest beach is in ocean city, md. over an hr. away. All this information is available on our web-site, or by using the internet. This person Gina did not rent from me, i don't know her. Patty is the one that rented from me, and it sounds like there was a communication breakdown between others in the party. Since we have had nothing but great reviews this year i don't know what else to say except WE NEVER LIED. -Ryan

Eleven High School friends reunion

The listing seemed to suit our needs, but upon arrival the view and the property amenities way surpassed our expectations. I would return with my high school friends again or with my family members in a heartbeat. The guest house is complete as is, and the owner might rent just it....has two rooms upstairs each with double bed and a pair of great bathrooms - one on each floor. The view of the river is so peaceful, and we saw the heron every morning. I loved it. Great value for the price we paid. We drove up to the town of Oxford and found a terrific restaurant called Latitude 38 on route 333 just prior to the main part of town. Also, down by the water on Market Street there was the Robert Morris Inn where we enjoyed cocktails on the porch. This whole area of Eastern Shore Maryland caused me to fall in love and want to return. (skip the town of Cambridge, however)
