Wildlife is abundant in this part of the country, so, be sure to bring your camera. This cabin can handle both small and large groups. From a quiet visit with friends and family, to a large group for a reunion or wedding. There are two decks: one on the main level and one off the master suite. The beautiful gas fireplace in the great room is a nice highlight while experiencing the Black Hills nights. Love the Hills!
Love the Hills!
We had a similar experience of a previous poster. . .we arrived right on time to find the cleaning crew still at the house. After traveling for 7 hours, we just wanted to relax. Finally, after driving around for a half hour, one of the children needed to use the bathroom, so we stopped at the house. Apparently, the previous occupants vacated late, so they were behind. They let us stay as they finished. The carpet in one of the upstairs bedrooms needs to be replaced, as there is a HUGE stain on the carpet. There were no screens on the windows, so they could not be left open. The towels need to be replaced, as they are worn thin and small. The patio furniture is mismatched and much of it is broken. Outside space is taken up by old furniture that needs to be disposed of. There are non-working Christmas lights hanging off the back deck that impede the view. The party before us broke the screen door. Positive things about this house: The basement is a nice gathering spot for large groups. The garage was cleaned out and was a nice space to park the car at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the biggest draw for the kids was the foosball table in the basement. It is noisy, and the adjoining bedroom has glass french doors without curtains. This made for some early mornings for the bedroom's occupants.

We had the most wonderful time while visiting South Dakota! This house had everything and more that a person could ask for. The absolute only drawback was the fact that it had no WiFi. Otherwise, we were all thrilled with the bedrooms, the living spaces, kitchen and its amenities, etc... we enjoyed the hot tub, both in the morning and evening. Everything was absolutely perfect! It was very clean and the scenery is beautiful from the decks! We saw deer everyday while there. We couldn't have been more satisfied with a home away from home.

Excellent Black Hills Experience!
Excellent Black Hills Experience!
The previous review doesn't do this cabin justice at all! This is a beautiful 5 bedroom with lots of character - we enjoyed the fact that it wasn't just a new 'cookie cutter' cabin. It had a great master suite upstairs with gorgeous views and a very fun kid room with bunk beds for the kids to call their own. From our experience, the cabin was clean and very well equipped. The hot tub was clean and hot and we loved watching the wildlife from the tub. It's also close enough to the ski slopes that we could walk or ski back after a day of skiing. The cabin had great decor with a mixture of antiques and newer art with a great lodge feel. Our family would definately come back!

We were really looking forward to spending our 3 day vacation in the Hills in this cabin. The pictures and description looked and sounded amazing! We were supposed to be able to check in at 3:00 pm, but shortly before this time, the manager called and told us the cleaning lady needed more time, but we could check-in at 4:00 pm. When we arrived a little after 4:00, the cleaning lady was still there but told us we could come in. She said she was still cleaning because apparently the last renters were Spring breakers. When we entered, the whole place smelled like stale beer and we could tell the previous tenants had definitely done some damage. A bathroom door was broken, there was a hole in a wall and a picture was broken. The cleaning lady was there for 45 minutes after we arrived. After she left we could tell she had not had near enough time to clean the place properly. The sofa in the main living room upstairs was disgusting and sticky. The hot tub was cloudy, and the floors were still sticky. We called the property manager, and she was kind and helpful, but she was in a bind as there were no other properties available by this time that would suit us. She did show us one, but it was too small. The owners of the property told her to tell us that they were sorry and we could stay elsewhere if we wanted to. We would have loved to, but there were no other places available! The owners did not offer anything other than an apology and a take it or leave it attitude! Two of the amenities we were hoping to enjoy on our vacation, the hot tub and the dish network, we were never able to use as the hot tub was really cloudy and the dish network in the lower level never worked. Also, you can't tell by the pictures posted online, but part of this cabin is very old and the rooms on the main level are very small. The lower level was finished pretty nicely, but there is no privacy in the bedroom down there as there are glass french doors to the bedroom and there is no lock and no curtains on this french door. Overall, we were quite disappointed with our experience at this cabin, Lost Camp Lodge, and will be staying elsewhere on our next trip to the Black Hills. This is very unfortunate because the Black Hills are one of our favorite vacation spots and our last 3 day vacation there was unpleasant because of our stay at this cabin. Luckily, there are other cabins to stay at that are more inexpensive, newer and cleaner.
