Why stay in a hotel room, small condo or a house looking out at other houses when you can have this bay and sunset view and a nice single house for the same price or less?

Your family and friends are sure to enjoy a very pleasant stay at this comfortable seashore home near Cape May right on the Delaware Bay in Historic Townbank, New Jersey. Townbank is the birthplace of South Jersey, having been settled in 1635 as a whalers' village. This bay front ranch-style home is just one mile north of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal. It is very comfortable and welcoming to our vacationing guests. The location and bay views are just incredible.

This beach house features four nicely decorated and furnished bedrooms(1K,1Q,1F,2T), two bathrooms-one with full-sized tub/shower and one with shower and a nice sun room on the back end of the house. The kitchen, dining and living room area features an open floor plan and high ceilings. A full laundry center is also included. The house has new central air-conditioning for your comfort on those hot/humid summer days. There are also ceiling fans in every room.

Ferry boats are easily visible from the house as are porpoises, fishing boats, occasional cruise ships from the Port of Philadelphia, and some of the most amazing sunsets you will ever see anywhere!!

The bay side beaches right in front of the house, while not protected by beach patrols, are very nice and are rarely crowded. They are fully accessible year-round and are just a 150 "foot" walk from the front door. Getting yourself and the kids to the beach has never been easier. If you prefer protected beaches, Cape May is a quick and easy five minute drive away. We even provide 4 beach tags for our guests' use.

There are two jetties very conveniently located near the house for the fishermen in the crowd. Or you can enjoy surf fishing or kayaking from the beach just across the street. Party boats and boat rentals are available just five minutes away at the Cape May Marina.

There are plenty of nice restaurants all around the area in all price ranges, but seashore barbeques are always very special too. So the gas grill is ready to go whenever you prefer to stay at home and have dinner while watching the incredible sunsets for which you will have a front row seat every evening. You'll definitely want to take some pictures to bring back home with you.

Harpoon Henry's is a popular local watering hole just a half-mile south of the house. It is a fun place to have a cocktail and appetizers while enjoying live music, and watching sunsets, other vacationers and locals do their thing. We're sure that a vacation in this great part of the South Jersey shore won't be your last once you've spent some time at this Townbank paradise.

Why the Owner Chose Cape May

Townbank, NJ is a tiny suburb of Cape May. It was founded in 1635 as a whalers' village and is considered to be the birthplace of South Jersey. We love the area because it is not crowded and is an easy drive to the center of Cape May city which is a real city that is open 12 months a year, unlike other resort towns in Cape May County which practically close down after Labor Day.
Townbank is actually a well kept secret which we hope will stay that way.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The location of the house is just wonderful and offers great bay and sunsets views throughout the year. There is a fenced in yard with a gated driveway and a nicely landscaped lot. It is a family area and there are no real "party houses" or high rise hotels nearby as there are in some vacation towns. Our latest renovation combined two small front bedrooms into a single large master bedroom that fronts the Delaware Bay. It has surpassed our wildest dreams and is now one of the highlights of the house. A recent vacationing guest told me, "the pictures don't do this place justice". What a nice thing to hear.

A
603 Shore Drive, Townbank, NJ 08204

The house looks right at the Delaware Bay and is located on Shore Drive between Delair Road and Cedarbrook Road.

Owner's Map of Cape May

My wife and I have owned a beach house in South Jersey since 1999 after renting there for many years. Cape May County has always been a comfortable and enjoyable place for family vacations. After owning a condo in Avalon, we sold it and were able to buy a single home in January, 2005, right on the bay in Townbank, NJ a tiny suburb or Cape May that seemed very special the first time we traveled there.

relaxing and well-equipped home for a lovely family vacation

Guest: Linda (North NJ)
Date of Stay: 07/24/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

My family thoroughly enjoyed their week at this well-kept, well-equipped home. In fact, we have rented in many places in the Cape May area and this house was certainly the best equipped. The location for morning breezes and evening sunsets was great. The back sun room is a nice spot for meals. For more activities, one can easily drive into Cape May city. Can you imagine walking on the beach, picking up shells, watching the sailboats go by and you are by yourself? Very peaceful. And of course, take out from Fish and Fancy and drinks at Harpoon Henry's one night are a must. The owners are very helpful and nice.

Owner response:We take great delight in making a good first impression with all of our renters, but in some ways, a strong first impression with a first time renter is even more special. Whether they do or don't know the area well, we try to provide good information and assistance about things we feel they will benefit from during their stay. Hearing that it was appreciated and added to their overall enjoyment just makes our day.

Great place for large family vacation and toddlers

Guest: Anne (Philadelphia, PA)
Date of Stay: 07/10/11 Review Submitted: 08/23/11

We stayed here the second week of July 2011 and really enjoyed the house, beach, and easy access to the Cape May area. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. It was great having darkening blinds in all the bedrooms for afternoon naps, the kitchen really had everything we needed to easily cook all our meals, and the sun room in the back of the house was the perfect place for breakfast and evening chats. We never had to worry about keeping our voices down since the sliding glass door kept the noise level down for those sleeping inside the house. We have two very young children, so was nice to have the gated drive and let the kids play outside without worrying about cars. We often were the only ones on the beach during the week too, and we did get to see the dolphins! The sunsets were fun to watch, and be sure to bring your bikes. It is an easy ride to see the ferry come and go. The house also came with a wagon for the kids to ride in, so early walks were a favorite morning ritual. Bob was very quick in replying to all our e-mails, and we didn't run into any problems during our stay. The only thing is to know that the sand on the bay beaches are a bit pebbly, but since they do provide beach tags to Cape May, you have both options available to you. We did ask Bob about this before our stay, and he was very accurate in his description of the beach outside the house. Was a fantastic family vacation!

The perfect Bayfront Home!

Guest: Suntan (Canal Fulton, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 09/01/10

This Beach house is very relaxing! The location is quiet with the most wonderful Sunsets! We love just sitting on the front porch and enjoying the breeze and wonderful sounds from the ocean! We also enjoy riding our bikes up and down the street to breath in the fresh air. People are also very friendly. The listing Photo's do reflect the appearance of the house, but just even better when you get there to see it for yourself! The property is clean and kept well-maintained. The owner is very helpful in answering any questions or concerns a person may have. Our family would definetly recommend this property to any friend or relative! The nearby attractions that we recommend are to go parasailing, Dolphin Watching, and just go a short drive to the Cape May Beach to relax, or go shopping! Our favorite restaurant that we love eating the fresh seafood from is at The Lobster House----Delicious! Stone Harbor Beach is also very nice to visit----the sand is unrocky!! very smooth! Stone Harbor also has some very nice shops to visit! This Beach house is like our second home! We love it and will be returning in 2011!! The Cape May light house is also very interesing to visit with climbing up the 199 steps!! What a great view from the top!

Owner response:Part of the pleasure we get as vacation property owners is hearing just how much our renters have enjoyed themselves on vacation at our house. We take a lot of pride in making this house special for our guests and it feels so good to know that our hard work and attention to details are recognized and appreciated. This family will be coming back for their third vacation in 2011, all the way from Ohio. We are so glad to have them as repeat renters. Nice, nice people.

Oh, we can’t wait for our 2010 stay. The kids and dog really loved the solitude and the whole general location, and then, the home, is just wonderful and extremely comfortable. To just be able to cross the road, and take off down the Delaware Bay beach, dolphins abounding.... once you’ve experienced that, it’s hard to go back to inland. When they asked me when we were going back to Townbank, I was delighted. We’re very fortunate that you had time available for us. From the last trip (and local neighbor input) we found that some of the finest NJ shore fishing is available just minutes away at Cape May Point, off Sunset Blvd. to the lighthouse at the State Park, and to see the wild side, Wildwood is under 30 minutes up the coast (you gotta see it). After a trip there, you really appreciate the beauty of the Cape May and Delaware beaches.

This was my first year staying at this beautiful house. First off, Bob is very friendly and helpful. The house is very clean, very comfortable and spacious. The home is fully stocked. If you have pets like myself, this is the perfect house for you. The entire house is fenced so your pets have plenty of running room. The view is breathtaking. The beach is right across a small street. When I was there, each day on the beach, there were no more than ten people on a half mile stretch. It was like your own private beach. My dogs loved it. Each day we made sure we were sitting on the deck watching the sun go down. What a view. After driving ten hours going to the outerbanks for the past five years, it looks like we found a new vacation spot, hopefully for summer's to come. Thanks again Bob, It was Great.

Tremendous location - beautiful view in quiet residential area. Home is well maintained, continually updated, clean, comfortable and has a nice, easy layout. We have rented this property for several years and have booked our 2010 stay. Owners are very pleasant and are always interested in feedback and if we have enjoyed our stay. Our dogs love coming with us and like walking the beach and side streets. It is "home away from home."

We've stayed at this location for 3 years now and enjoy it MORE each time we come! The home is very clean, well-stocked, has all the comforts of home, and is perfectly located on the bay. We love being able to walk right over to the beach - makes it feel like our private beach. The sunsets are spectacular, and we enjoy the "dolphin show" as the kids call it. The owners have been great to work with - basically they spoil us - making sure we have everything we could possibly need or want. We consider it a blessing to be here!
