We are located on the banks of the Yellowstone River, 10 miles north of Gardiner, Montana--the oldest entrance to Yellowstone Park.
Our lodge is 4300 square feet, with seven bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large dining room, full kitchen, large family room with stone fireplace downstairs and a large living room with stone fireplace upstairs. There are two decks, one overlooking the Yellowstone River and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We have a very large lawn with shade trees also. It is a good place to relax after a busy day of activities.
It is a beautiful and convenient location for visiting Yellowstone Park and the surrounding area. The Park is only 10 minutes away. In addition to seeing Yellowstone, there are many other activities to do and see in the area, such as: horseback riding, hiking, fishing, river rafting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and hunting. All of these activities are available in the nearby upper Yellowstone Valley. This area is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year.
Winters in the Gardiner area are usually pretty mild. The road through the northern part of Yellowstone to Cooke City is open year-round. This most scenic part of the Park offers unlimited wildlife viewing, particularly of elk, bison and the famous Yellowstone wolves. There is snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the mountains above Gardiner, Cooke City and in the Park. Downhill skiing is also available nearby at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky.
We built the lodge ourselves with hand-hewn logs, cut and pulled out with our team of Clydesdale horses from the mountains within site of here. The stones for the fireplaces were picked from nearby fields.
The lodge is also available during hunting season. The trail heads in the vicinity offer good elk hunting on the National Forests of the Gardiner area.
If the dates you are looking for are not available, feel free to contact us about our second log lodge. It was built in 2006 and accommodates 15. In the same great area, it is slightly smaller with five bedrooms. It is VRBO listing #151009. It is also sits on the banks of the Yellowstone River.

We recently finished our second stay at this beautiful home. The location is minutes away from the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. It is situated right on the Yellowstone River, and it's great to fall asleep at night listening to the sounds of the river. We had 15 people in our family group - and had plenty of space for all. We really like the fact that there is a lot of room for a large family with enough room to have various activities going on at the same time and not feeling like you're running into each other. The property has always been clean and well-maintained. The photos on the website are accurate, but actually don't do the property justice. It is a beautiful setting and well thought out home. It exceeded our expectations the first time. John and Dru are great to work with and very responsive to anything that we have needed. We have thoroughly enjoyed our times at this home, and we refer to it now as our "Yellowstone home away from home". We highly recommend this property - we will definitely be back next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The setting is lovely, the log house is unique but several serious factors marred the stay. First, the house was dirty, especially the kitchen & baths. I had to immediately vacuun and clean the bath & kitchen floors before my young grandkids arrived. The kitchen is in no way equipped for the # of people it is advertised to accommodate, The icemaker does not work and what little counterspace is available is taken up by a secondary microwave to replace the built-in one that doesn't work. The oven was in serious need of cleaning so it smoked up the kitchen when used. What utensils that are available are in bad shape, I purchased a skillet rather than attempt to clean the one provided. It was unseasonably hot and with no A/C we needed to open the windows. Several did not open and/or had no screens &.those that had screens, those screens did not fit, some were repaired with duct tape leaving the windows full of dead bugs. The grill was so dirty it caught on fire when we attempted to use it. As I said the home has tremendous possibilities, but I would not rent it again or recommend it in the condition we found it.Owner response: We have rented our 2 lodges to hundreds of people over the last few years and 99% of the people have had wonderful, memorable exeriences and have loved their stay at our place, as our other reviews on our listing and in our guest books have stated. They refer us to friends and we have many repeat renters. When we do have something break, such as a microwave, we get it replaced promptly. It may take a week to get a replacement installed, but we make sure there is a replacement to use in the meantime. We have the maximum number of pictures and a listing of amenities on our listings, so we try to give you a good idea of what the lodge looks like and what to expect, as well a being happy to answer all you questions during the booking process. We, ourselves, have had many wonderful family gatherings here, where I , myself have cooked in our well stocked kitchen for 30 people, with no problems. We do our best to make all our guests stay comfortable and memorable and if a problem does arise we do everything we can to correct it promtly. The vacation rental business is a wonderful business. We love meeting people from all over and we have made many friends over the years and as I have stated 99 % of our guests have been very happy with our accomodations.

If you are going to yellowstone and don't stay at this home you are making a big mistake. We had a party of 12 and had room to spare. The house is beautiful and well taken care of. The owner is one of the nicest people you will meet. We saw grizzly bears, black bears, hundreds of elk, wild mountain goats, antelope all within 30 minutes of the house. The town of Gardiner has alot of nice shops and a few good resteraunts. The park itself is amazing..It is hard to believe anything like this remains in the USA.Did you find this review helpful? The lodge is located a few miles outside the north entrance of Yellowstone. Very convenient to Gardiner and Yellowstone yet have privacy and great view of mountains. It was a pleasant stay there but there are rooms for improvement - the lodge could use a little dusting. Some mattresses are squeaky. The second level rest room does not have a shower. We were out of toilet paper and hand wash dish detergent. There is no internet access. The landline phone inside the lodge can only call local. AT&T mobile has no network in the area. So be prepared! I would recommend it because the price reflects the overall inadequacy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We loved the house and the location was perfect for spending time in Yellowstone. We were so glad we chose to stay on the north side of the park where it was less congested and the scenery spectacular. The house was huge and perfect for an extended family. The pictures don't do it justice. Between the children and grandchildren, there were ten of us and there was more than enough room - in fact we did not use all the bedrooms. The houe was well equipped and the rooms were large and comfortable. The kids enjoyed playing outside while we adults enjoyed the front porch. It was a memorable week. Thank you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

This house was the perfect place for our family reunion. We had an amazing time and the pictures don't do it justice! It is much bigger than it appears and it is in a great location to drive to the park. Our group highly recommends it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

About the owner: John and I lived in the Gardiner area for 30 years, raising our family here and working in the outfitting business. We have 6 kids and 10 grandchildren. In 1996 we sold our outfitting business in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness area near Gardiner and purchased a guide territory in Northern British Columbia. We spent our summers and falls in B.C. for 11 years. In 2006 we sold the guide area and purchased a ranch where we now live raising cattle and wheat. We enjoy spending time with our family, hunting, taking horse pack trips. I also am a avid scrap booker and quilter. The lodge was completed in 2001. It is constructed of logs that were harvested locally by John and skidded out with our team of draft horses. They were then hand peeled by our family. We did all of the building ourselves, from pouring the concrete to putting on the roof. John and DruAnn Robidou
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Obviously our location to Yellowstone and the size of the lodge are our biggest benefits. There is also world class fishing just out the back door on the legendary Yellowstone river, along with white water rafting. The scenery is awesome, whether you are seeing it from your car, hiking some of the many trails in the area or from the back of a horse while spending the afternoon with one of the many local horseback outfitters. You have all the peace and privacy of being in the country, while also being just minutes from the parks north entrance. The layout of the lodge gives everyone their own space and privacy. However for those large groups desiring more room we have an additional lodge located just up stream on the other side of our 6 acres. We have a deck overlooking the river and large yard with room for the kids to run. We have hosted numerous family reunions in addition to a few weddings. Staying with us you will see first hand why they call Montana the 'Last Best Place'.
