FIVE O'CLOCK is a colorful beach house - 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, (sleeps 20), gulf view, with a private pool. The white sandy beach of the Gulf of Mexico is only 70 short yards down a dead-end private road - or you can just walk through the sand directly to the Gulf from the back of the house. It was built in 2006 and is located at 5000 Highway 180 (Fort Morgan Road), between the 5 and 6 mile markers on the Fort Morgan Peninsula in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is a sparsely populated area, a great spot for families to gather to be away from crowded beaches and high rise condos. All rooms have a gulf view, and spacious decks are on three sides. The south side, facing the gulf, has a screened-in area. There is now a gate at the top of the front stairs.
A PRIVATE POOL is directly behind the house and is shaded from the sun in the late afternoon. The pool is 15 by 34 feet, shallow on each end and 6 feet deep in the middle. A volleyball net, deck and pool furniture are provided. The pool is fenced, with a magnetic gate latch for safety.
Our beach house is very KID-FRIENDLY, with beach and pool toys, wagon, games, books, games 3 DVDs (with some DVDs), VCR (with some tapes), CD player, 2 Pac-N-Plays, highchair, booster seat, 3 net side bed rails, and doors at the top and bottom of the stairs. There is insulation between the upstairs bedrooms. Unlimited DVD rental is included. For the older kids, we have wireless internet access and a small book library, puzzles and games.
DOWNSTAIRS LAYOUT:
- Large gathering area with living room, dining room (custom built tables seat 18-20 people), fully equipped island kitchen with granite counter tops and wet bar with vessel sink.
- Master bedroom with a King and a double Futon and attached bath (large marble shower)
- Second full bath (shower)
- Laundry area with washer, dryer, and second refrigerator.
UPSTAIRS LAYOUT:
- Bedroom 2 - King with attached bath (shower)
- Bedroom 3 - Queen with attached bath (shower)
- Bedroom 4 - Queen, Twin, Twin with attached bath (tub/shower)
- Bedroom 5 - Queen, Double/Twin trundle bed
- Bedroom 6 - Double/Twin bunk
- Divided bath between bedrooms 5 and 6 (tub/shower)
- Hall with small dresser and chairs
There is parking for a maximum of 6 cars under and in front of the house. Quoted rates nowinclude taxes, linen, and cleaning fees. Deposit of one third of base rent is required. Trip insurance is available. Summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday. This is a non-smoking, pet-free beach house, and we do not rent to student or young adult groups without adequate adult supervision. As local owners, we keep the house well stocked and in great shape, so that you can have a marvelous vacation. If you have any special needs, please let us know and we will make every effort to provide them.

Google is slightly off in our area. The easiest way to find the house is to google "Our Rd" in Gulf Shores, AL. Five o'clock is just to the east of it, on a short private (unnamed) road. You can see the pool in the back of the house.

Several of my family members got together and rented this home. We had so much fun! The house was beautiful and very spacious. The long table fed us all and the the big comfy couches gave us plenty of room to sit. It was well stocked and close enough to the water. The owners were SO nice that I have inquired about renting smaller homes from them also. People like them are, for sure, the type of people I like to deal with when renting from somewhere that I have never stayed! I highly recommend this home!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our group of 6 couples stayed here Sept. 23 thru 26th, 2011. What a wonderful weekend!!!! The house is set up perfectly for those who want to be together but also need their "personal space". We loved the individual bedroom areas but especially loved the common areas of the home. The kitchen is very well stocked with all the necessities needed to cook a meal. The pictures are very representative of the home although we thought it was even better than it appeared. We hope to be back next year if not before!! I don't think this would be good rental for those who cannot climb stairs as there are 2 sets of steps just to get into the home and more stairs to get to most of the bedrooms.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children.

This house is a 20 minute drive from Gulf Shores attractions (&Wal Mart), but the beach is also just for the few families staying in this area. We considered this a major plus. Our 7 grandkids, ages 16 to 2, all found something to do all day every day and we never had to worry about disturbing any one or being disturbed. We were at the house for two days before we had to go to town for anything as there are conveniece store nearby. There is a resturant a very short walk thru the dunes if one is inclined. We did go to the publc beach to parasail and were more sure than ever that we had made the right choice. Public beaches are not our first choice for young children. The rooms are larger than they appear in photos, the house is stocked with every imaginable kitchen utensil/dish/bakeware. The pool was so nice in the afternoon when the grown-ups needed a break and the kids were still ready to play, although the grown ups were still in the water playing volleyball come to think of ir! The owners are fantastic about accomodating special requests. The only thing we would do differently is take a safety gate so we could contain the toddlers on the top deck. Gets a five star rating if you are looking for family friendly in a less congested area. Very clean!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

About the owner: We live about 8 miles from Five o'clock, are semi-retired and do most of the maintenance on Five o'clock ourselves (including cleaning the pool). We have 3 grown children and 6 marvelous grandchildren. They all live in other states, but come together at Five o'clock in August each year. We have lived in the Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan area since 1999 and love it here. We were born and raised in Michigan, spent 18 years in Nashville, and have found our permanent home here.
Why the Owner Chose Homes, Single Family:
We bought the land because of its wonderful location. It has great Gulf access, and is in an area that is not congested. We built the house in 2005 - 2006 with multigenerational families (like ours) in mind. We put insulation in the interior wall to soundproof the bedrooms, and made the common space large enough for the whole group.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love having our own large pool and watching the grandkids enjoy themselves. The beach is very close and sparcely populated. There is a small grocery store within walking distance, and restaurants close by. The Fort Morgan Peninsula is rich in history, with the historic Fort Morgan about 5 miles west and Gulf Shores about 15 miles east. Gulf Shores has a zoo, a Walmart, lots of restaurants, water park, minature golf and other fun things to do. There are some great golf courses close by. A Welcome book at Five o'clock lists many things to do, with contact information.
