Why the Owner Chose Bat Cave
This area provides a combination of quietness and closeness to Asheville, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Hendersonville. The view from our property is one of the best in the area. The climate is nice most of the year with the four seasons to enjoy. We are also close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is a great place to see the mountains from. There are nice restaurants nearby and many things to do. This property is a one day drive from where we live full time (Florida)
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The getting away from the sounds of traffic and City life is a big plus. I enjoy the birds and other animals that we sometimes see. (Deer, wild turkeys, Bear) and of course Bats at night in the Summer. I like the climate. Many times in the Summer we don't even need the air conditioner on. There is a fresh smell of woods and flowers.

My husband and I wanted to take my mom away for some R&R and see family near by. Viewed alot of VRBO places in Ashville area. Pictures of Shimer Hs were limited-AND...did not do justice! Wonderful home, comfortable, clean, views [especially from back porch and hot tub]. Blessed to have the most beautiful rainbow after an afternoon shower. All room very spacious. Thanks to Max and Barb for allowing us to enjoy their home away from home. Booked at last minute [day before!] and hope to go there again. Right there at Chimney Rock and Lake Lure-good location.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+.

We have stayed at the Shimer House a few times for a long weekend and are staying for a week this summer. This is an incredible home right on the top of the mountain. It is very clean, well maintained and so serene. The hot tub is the icing on the cake. Don't pass up an opportunity to stay here. You'll want to come back again and again.

The Shimer House was absolutely the most beautiful vacation house we have ever stayed in. We stayed on the back porch most of the time because of the view overlooking the mountains! I even used that porch as the setting to propose to my now fiancee! I look forward to staying at the house again real soon!!!!!

Spring is close at hand and it is time to schedule vacations. The Spring flowers will soon cover the area in color and beauty. The Mountains are coming alive with new growth. What a time to be in the Mountains
