  From the first email to the day we left this was a great experience! These people are the best owners we have ever had and we often rent on vrbo. They do EVERYTHING by email so there is never any confusion about what I thought they said and they don't make you go to a rental company and get your key and check in. We just drove straight to the house and let ourselves in with the key code the owners assigned us and started our vacation. Doesn't get any easier than that! We bought a pass but honestly rarely did anything but relax and enjoy the peacefulness of Edisto. We walked on the beach, we went shelling, we played golf and when we were behind our vacation home we ran in and had a "refreshment"; very nice touch. Thank you; we will be back again as soon as possible!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  A friend and I decided to meet for vacation in the Charleston area (ok, Edisto’s a little farther than we expected). Communication with the owner prior to our visit went quite well. We walked to the beach, visited Edisto Beach State Park, dined at Buck’s Pizza and The Dockside Restaurant on the island as well as Alluette’s Café in Charleston, toured Drayton Hall, and even visited the Edisto Library (the ladies there are quite pleasant). Since we arrived on a Saturday evening in October, it was very dark. The outside post light wasn’t lit and it would have been near impossible to maneuver the stairs and find the keypad had my friend not packed flashlights. We soon discovered that the outside porch light on the house wasn’t working either. We figured it wasn’t an emergency, so we waited until Monday morning to call the property manager. At that time I also mentioned burned out bulbs in the bathrooms, the broken bed post on one of the beds, the non-working stove eye, and the fact that a TV shown in the website pictures of one bedroom wasn’t installed (photos show both of the downstairs bedrooms as having one). For some that issue is moot, but for people who wish to just ‘veg out’ in separate quarters, that was considered a plus when booking the house. Maintenance handled the lights situation, but I concluded that the light fixture in the master bath must have a short because after the maintenance visit, the burned out light worked briefly. Let’s just say it didn’t work more than it did. There were other things that definitely need attention and updating: broken sprayer on kitchen sink, resealing windows in master bedroom, fixing bed post, fixing vanity in master bath, stove repair, etc. Also the house sits right on the golf course and has streets running behind and beside it; however, there are no blinds or window treatment on the large windows in the living room and dining area to allow privacy, so as you enjoy watching the gators, the golfers, the walkers, the runners, the bikers, etc., they enjoy watching you too as do the passersby at night! Decent house, nice location and price, but we won’t be returning.

  Owner response: It is always our intention for our guests to relax and enjoy their vacation and this guest's comment about our home being a "nice area for that truly laid-back experience" is exactly correct! Perhaps this guest is confusing our home with another because what is shown in our pictures is a TV in one of the bedrooms and also one in the family room. As we say in our check in information we will address all concerns immediately once we are made aware of them. The facts are that the ones we were told about (light bulbs) were corrected immediately and we pride ourselves on being prompt with customer service.

  Just got back from a great Memorial day weekend at this beach house. We had a great time! It was very close to the pool and an easy ride to the beach - great decks, windows, and living space. Loved it!
