As a UVM graduate I was familiar with the lovely Lake Champlain Islands, so I wanted a property next to the water, yet easily accessible to Burlington. We, along with two other families, found this private location with its spectacular view. There was plenty of sleeping room for us all and a large table with benches to accommodate many eaters, hungry after a full day of swimming, boating, and biking. The kitchen had been modernized, while the house's other rooms retained their old time rustic charm. There was even cable tv and a dvd player. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch, grilling our evening meal, and feeling the breeze from the lake. It would be hard to find a better spot for a group of friends or family members to get together!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers.

If you want a summer getaway with some privacy and some elbow room, this is the place for you. The property is one-half of a peninsula on Lake Champlain, and 1200 of frontage. Look to your left, and there's a couple camps a quarter mile away. Look across the bay, and there's one distant camp, but no one was ever there. Look to the right, and it's just beautiful trees out to the point, and the five miles of water to New York. Some lakes are plagued by loud motorboats. There isn't much boat traffic on Champlain, and the lake is so big, most of the boats that do go by are far, far away. It's hard for me to do this place justice, but it's a beautiful place with no nearby neighbors, almost no noisy boats, so you get seclusion and peace. The camp was not fancy--it's a camp, after all--but it was clean, well-equipped, and roomy. Biking on the roads is easy--there's very little traffic, and the countryside is nearly flat. There is also a bike path out into the lake on the old railroad causeway, which was really fascinating because it was built over a hundred years ago using reject slabs of Vermont marble. A truly great vacation spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I drive from Washington DC to this edge of paradise every chance I get, and have been for more than forty years when my father did the driving. There are beautiful places closer to home and all over the world, and I've been to many. But none feels like home, or heaven, like this slice of deep green. The sun shines on the lake and through the warped glass of these century old windows. The wind sings through the tall skinny pines that stand to hold the clothesline and the volleyball net, and fall to build the porch and the nightly bonfire on the rocks. The owners deserve thanks for drawing a line around god's sunroom and preventing anyone from remodeling it. The antique wood cottage is a spa and a retreat. The rooms and furniture harbor the memories of a thousands kids shouting and a thousand adults sipping beverage. This remote paradise is the ultimate vacation from our lives stressed by all our pampering. Not a neighbor can hear the nightly charades or arguments over cards, but shops for every whim are just nearby. I will never stop returning.Did you find this review helpful? We had a great time here and have for many years. You can see and hear the water from almost every room in the house. I enjoy bringing friends and family to this place because they say it's magical. Beautiful sunsets. It's the kind of simple, healthy, summer vacation we love- reading, playing in and around the water all day, card games, puzzles, BBQ and fresh corn, bike rides. Even the rain did not deter us. One day, a storm came across the lake and because there was no lighting, we went for a rain swim! Tim R.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

An oasis of serenity and beauty sitting RIGHT on the shore of Lake Champlain, this property is a place to go for healing and solitude. The house is older and rustic, but that is part of the charm: you don't go here to move forward, you come here to go back, back to a simpler time when children scamper along the rocky shore, discovering fossils, freshwater clams, and adventures. Time seems to occupy a different pace here. The water is fresh and clear (and, yes, potable in the house), the views are spectacular, the swimming is great. We highly recommend this beautiful property!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The moment you pull into the driveway, you know this place is special. It holds all of the charm you would want from a Vermont getaway. Yes, it is rustic. That is part of the charm! We played volleyball and badmitton in the back, put together puzzles on the large accomodating dining room table (so big that we left it out during dinner and still had plenty of room. The beds are on the stiff side, but the rooms are large and airy with charming furniture you want to know the history behind! The biking is fantastic (the one bad review sounds like they are just unhappy folks). You could bike every day and be somewhere different, all equally lovely. The water is silky and refreshing and the kids had so much fun on the raft. This place is definitely a slice of heaven.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

, what more do you want for camping that sleeps over a dozen people, with all the accomodations. You can't stop mother nature from doing whats happening with the lake, algae, slippery rocks, birds pooping, it's all about nature. If you like big city life, stay in the city, if you like to go camping "directly" on water, then this is the place.Everyone in our group enjoyed this place tremendously!! Hope to make it an annual place for our vacation. S. Moore N.YDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The camp on Lake Champlain has spectacular frontage comprised of fossilized bedrock. The cedars surrounding these formations are a reflection of life in a wild and untamed area. The house itself sits above the rocks, surrounded by a wide porch. There is room for comfortable and relaxed seating, as well as the grill, fishing tackle and what have you. Green paint and cream trim give the house an earthy appeal. The camp house contains mementos of past outings, family treasures and past artwork from family and friends. The kitchen has every conceivable plate, platter or utensil for cooking, and the long narrow tablein the dining room seats all members of a crowd. The bedrooms are quaint and in keeping with the rustic nature of the property. Having access to a boat, dock and floating dock made for hours of family fun. The rocks are a perfect place to lay out on a sunny day, with a view of the blue mountains.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this cottage for a friends reunion in early may. We were 4 couples (8 adults) and everyone found more than enough space. The big table was well appreciated for playing games and catching up. The owners were extremely attentive and every detail was taken care of. The cottage is rustic and very comfortable. Since it was early spring, we didnt use the lake, but loved the sunsets. Thanks for sharing this place with us!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
