After making the booking we were notified that the village had suffered a one-in-50 year flood so were rather unsure what to expect. The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to rectify the damage (ground floor only), replace equipment, etc. and to decorate the house for our Christmas stay. They were there from Rome to welcome us. A high chair and cot were provided for our toddler and bookings had been made for us for Christmas lunch at a restaurant about 20 minutes drive away. The house is very well equipped and was quite comfortable for a family of five. We made good use of the open fire every night. There is an excellent new supermarket in Ponterio a short drive away and the house was well located for the visits we made to Todi, Perugia, Assisi, Montefalco, Orvieto and Spoleto.Did you find this review helpful? We returned last Saturday from our 2 weeks holiday in Todi. The villa was fantastic, it really has everything you need, it is large and well furnished. It is just as described. The garden is also well equiped (fridge, freezer, etc.) and is quite lovely to spent some time in it. Greta and Alberto gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home. We received any information we could ever need. The information about the restaurants was very helpfull. We have tried some of them and we prefer Il Re Beve: very good food, nice staff, beautifully located. We also met Bruno, the caretaker. Every day, before we woke up, he had already taken care of the garden so that everything was OK. The location is perfect. You can reach easily and quickly all the cities of Umbria, such as Spoleto, Spello, Bevagna, Orvieto, etc., even Assisi and Gubbio are not that far away. You must also visit Le Cascate delle Marmore, they are wonderful. The store across the road is very helpful and the supermarket is nearby. In short, I would recommend it to everyone who likes peace and quiet and who likes to visit everything that there is to see without having to spend hours in the car.Owner response: Dear Ann, Albert and Gunther Thank you so much for your lovely and very accurate review. Everything has been thought out so our guests' stay can be as pleasant as possible. The comfort of the house, the beauty and care of the garden, the recommended restaurants and sites and above all the fact that thw giyaw is so centrally located that, as you say, one can easily reach all the interesting cities in Umbria within 30 to 45 minutes. You were my first Belgian guests and it has been a wonderful experience to deal with such great people as you - thank you for taking good care of the house and garden. You are welcome back any time!

We recently returned from a lovely week in Todi staying in Greta's lovely home. Despite arriving at a seriously unsociable time Greta was there to welcome us and make sure that we had everything we needed. The House was everything we hopeed for - a great location, lots of space and totally 'Umbrian'! From here we were able to plan trips out that took us to Orvieto, Assisi, Rome, Perugia and of course Todi. Great photographic opportunities and stunning weather. And we always had easy access to Greta if we needed help of guidance. For people who want to experience living in Umbria and going local - as well as get around and explore the stunning scenery - this is a great choice.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We recently spent the week of May 7-14, 2011 in this beautiful stone country house near Todi. We loved the house, the gardens and the location, which was perfect for exploring the towns of Umbria such as Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, Assissi, etc. The house is very large and is extremely well furnished, in fact, it is furnished beautifully, with antique furniture and art work. As there were only two of us, we were very comfortable, but this house could easily accomodate large families, maybe even 10-12 people. There were several bedrooms we never even went into! The house is on three levels- it is very large. Also, the hospitality of the owners, Greta and Alberto, made our visit all the better. They have compiled folders containing recommendations of things to do and see in the area. Even in one week we could barely scratch the surface, but we did have a marvelous experience eating Sunday lunch at Titignano, which is a castle perched high on a hilltop overlooking a beautiful lake. The lunch started at 1:30pm and went until 5:00pm. we were served endless platters of wonderful Italian home cooked dishes- we believe it was about a 20 course meal in total!! It was fantastic- not only the meal, but the setting as well.We never would have known about this if not for the recommendation of Greta. So all in all, we had a fantastic week, and I would highly recommend this lovely home to anyone who would love the experience of living in a country village and exploring Umbria.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

A group of five friends just stayed at Casa Greta in October 2010 and we had a fabulous time! Greta and Alberto were waiting there to greet us after we arrived from a long trip. They, along with Bruno, the caretaker, made us feel like we were old friends. The villa was just as described, if not better. The garden is quite lovely and has everything one could need under a covered preparation and eating area. You can pick the grapes right off the vine if you go during the harvest. Everything the other reviews say is true, I cannot think of anything that has been neglected. There is absolutely everything you need within a walk or a short drive. We had a car and were able to explore many lovely hill towns in the area and a winery or two. There are plenty of maps and information available at the villa for visiting nearby areas. We were able to try a few of the restaurants in Todi that they recommended and we were very happy with the food and service. Alberto and Greta made sure we knew where the market, bank and any other things we needed could be found. They also helped us too get transportation to the train station for a friend who was going a different direction than we were when we left. If anyone needs further information from someone who has rented the villa I told Greta that they could contact me. She has my information if that would make it easier to make a decision. My advice is DON'T HESITATE! You will have a wonderful time at Casa Greta. We did and would love to return someday for another visit with our new friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

First of all, Greta and Alberto - thank you for all of your help and patience. Trying to find a villa with a safe house and garden for a destructive 24 month old, a space for my mother, my brother & sister-in-law and a big enough bedroom for myself and the hubby and our newborn in the travel cot is quite tricky - trying to find somewhere like that at a reasonable price near Todi is another thing. And then I stumbled upon Greta's Casa. The studio on the ground floor was perfect for my mum, and the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor were ideal for the rest of us. The Napoleon bed was adored by Patch (my 2year old). The garden was a complete success - a fridge/freezer/power points for my baby monitors, and a large enough table to get all of us round and our many friends in the area. The alimentari across the street was the perfect place to get all our antipasti and main ingredients for our big group of diners as well as all the household necessities you may have forgotten or run out of. My family have had a holiday home in Todi for the last 10 years until my father died 1 year ago. Coming back to the area for the first time since and without the familiarity of our old appartment - we were all feeling very anxious and quite emotional. Greta made the whole experience so easy and hassle free and introduced us to our temporary neighbours and showed us everything we would need to know. The only thing that we're used to having that the house didn't was a bath for the kids - but to be honest it didn't even matter. Patch loved having his first experience of having showers, and Tommy was tiny enough for the sink. Perfect! Don't hesitate on renting this property - it is exactly as it is described and we will hopefully be renting it again next year. P.S. The Zio Totto restaurant is great! Give it a try! Try and go a little earlier than the table so you can visit the Teatro in Monticastello di Vibio (it's the smallest theatre in the world).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a week of our honeymoon at this lovely home near Todi. The house and especially the garden were lovely, We had all the cooking utensils we could need, everything was lovely and clean and all the neighbours and near by store were so helpful. Most of all though it was the genuine care and client service of Greta and Alberto that made our holiday. They spent a long time showing us around the property, taking us on a tour of the town and helping with valuable information like where to find supermarkets, good coffee, banks, best parking, local festivals, what towns to visits and great restaurants. We could not have asked for better hosts it was a wonderful week. They were also very accomodating when we stayed from Tuesday to Tuesday when most people would only take Saturday to Saturday. Car is required for the best experience with this property though.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

‘You approach the village across open fields slowly sprouting with the new sunflower plantings. This will be a sea of gold in a few weeks from now. It’s mid May and rain falls gently on the road ahead as we turn into Pian di San Martino and stop, looking for the house we know is there. A quick phone call and suddenly our host appears in the street ahead, umbrella held high, and approaches with a wide smile and a warm greeting. We have arrived.’ If this seems like overkill in description, it’s not! The feel of arriving at this house is wonderful. We were met warmly and guided inside by Greta and Alberto, into a place you could only hope to find at the end of a long journey. Even on a damp day, full of light and warmth, wonderfully decorated in tune with the style of the house, and the location, and all the modern comfort and amenities you might want. A small doorway from the spacious bedroom on the ground floor (which includes a TV and DVD player) leads to a tiny courtyard between this and the next house. A lovely touch on a sunny day! A modern bathroom and a spacious laundry complete the ground floor, then it’s upstairs to the dining room flanked by the lounge and very modern timber kitchen (with dishwasher!). Books and DVDs abound. Plenty to fill the time as you relax. The upper floor contains three more bedrooms, one containing a 300 year old Napoleonic bed, one with balcony, and another very modern bathroom. Across from the house is the ‘garden’. A green oasis, with barbeque, undercover seating and dining area, a vine covered pergola. A place to talk, eat and drink, read and contemplate. It’s even lit at night! And the views…. The spectacular views, from the upper floors, of the nearby city of Todi, on the hillside above the house. The lovely views across the valley from above the village (from a vantage point near the cemetery). We had a wonderful time. All six of us. It all came together – the house, the décor, the location, the weather (rain & sun), the trips to Assisi, Perugia, Florence, Pisa, Todi, the wine & the food. A truly marvelous, memorable experience. From us all, thank you Greta and Alberto, we would recommend your home to anyone looking for a genuine Umbrian experience and as a first rate base for exploring this beautiful region.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

I stayed here with my four children for two weeks in July. First we were made very welcome by the owner who also showed us around the area, which was very helpful. The house itself is spacious, charmingly decorated and well equipped. It is located in the centre of the village of Pian di San Martino so there are local families around close by. The village is close to the local supermarket and another village with a video store, coffee bars etc. It is also very close by Todi, and very well located for visiting the towns of Orvieto, Assisi, Perugia. Rome is also well within driving distance. We all had a very relaxing and comfortable holiday.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

If you are looking for a wonderfully relaxed place then this is ideal. Surrounded by magnificent scenery, it is perfectly located to enjoy an excellent selection of walks in the well-know town of Todi as well as many charming historic villages and towns nearby. We spent a marvelous week in this beautiful spot near Todi where we found beautiful examples of traditional architecture and fascinating culture. Every day offered something new. We truly enjoyed the hospitality during our holiday in this lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The house was spotless, tastefully furnished, and extremely comfortable…what sweet dreams! Every morning we awoke to the sounds of the birds singing and smelled the freshness of the greenery surrounding the house. The charming, well-kept garden was a welcoming spot to spend some relaxing moments or have a pleasant lunch. We loved the beautiful countryside, the nice people, and enjoyed fantastic biking. Thank you Greta and Alberto for opening your hearts and home to us on our holiday. The hospitality was truly first class. We have such special memories of our week and we shall definitely plan a return stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
