"Petite Amour" is a small, peaceful, private, waterfront home with fantastic views of the San Juan Channel, Orcas Island, the Canadian Rockies, several small islands, Mt Baker and in/out bound boats and ferries.
The three levels of wood decks, which surround/overlook the salt-water pool, provide panoramic views, wildlife viewing (eagles, sea lions, deer, gulls, terns, song birds) and sun bathing. Wake up with a dip in the pool, followed by coffee/tea in the hot tub. Enjoy fresh-picked black berries (just up the hill in season) for breakfast; catch dinner off the dock. Relax in the sauna after an afternoon of hiking, golf, shopping, or sight-seeing (visit the lavender farm, the alpaca farm, the oyster farm (pick your own), American Camp, British Camp). Then wind down the day with wine/cocktails and a quiet dinner on the upper deck (just off the kitchen). Then do it all over again the next day!
If you're looking for peace and quiet, Petite Amour is the place for you.

We just stayed at this wonderfully unique getaway... the owner was accomodating, gracious and prompt to respond to all inquiries. We found our stay so enjoyable and relaxing that we had to call and see if we could stay another night. It is true what someone else posted that driving right to the door would require AWD or 4WD, but we do not have any walking challenges and there are stairs that go right down to the door from a flat parking space by the garage. The accomodations were clean and just wonderfully serene.. a sauna and jacuzzi .. the pool was a bit too cold in September, but a fifteen minute sauna and I could easily see myself jumping in. there is a lower dock (NOT THE ONE ROPED OFF) and you can see into all the ocean habitat. We so enjoyed our stay here, it was difficult to leave. . GREAT EXPERIENCE! Strongly recommend a flashlight if you get in on a late night ferry like we did - it is so dark and so peaceful here - the views will take your breath away from the kitchen, the outside dining area up top, the lower deck, the living room and the bedroom! What a treasure.

I just got back from a week's stay and very much enjoyed my time here. The house is as shown on the site and is clean, well-maintained and stocked, convenient to Friday Harbor yet very quiet. The only noise at night is birds and the sound of water hitting the rocks below. I would highly recommend this house to my friends and family and I hope to return someday. The views are fantastic and probably the best on the island. Here's a few things I would mention: 1) The house and yard are very dog-friendly. My lab loved the big hilly yard and running around on the rocks below the house. The house is clean, but has not been updated since the 70's and the floors and furniture are very dog-friendly. Basically there's no hardwood floors for the dog to scratch or white carpet that will show dirt and every hair. 2) The yard and driveway are very steep; I did take my car down the driveway once to unload, but decided not to do it again because it was difficult to get it back out. Either bring a 4-wheel drive or plan on parking at the top of the driveway and making a steep hike up to your car anytime you want to leave. 3) This house is a bad choice for anyone with mobility issues. As I mentioned, the yard and driveway are very steep and you are going to have to climb many stairs indoors and outdoors during your stay. The outside has three levels of decks and the house itself is two stories. The layout of the house is a bit awkward with the kitchen, dining room, bathroom and top deck on the upper level and the only bedroom, living room, entryway and other two decks on or accessible only from the lower floor. There is no running water or bathroom available indoors on the first floor where you will probably be spending most of your indoor time. You will have to go upstairs anytime you want to use the restroom or get a drink. Not a big deal for me, but this could be a real problem for anyone with any mobility issues. 4) The pool is not heated as far as I could tell, and was colder than I was expecting. Just be aware that while the pool is available and exactly as pictured, it may be too cold for you to actually want to use it. 5) There really isn't water access for people at the house. Even though there is a place below the house to tie up a boat, the steps down to it have been roped off so you can't actually get down there. My dog was able to climb down to the water and swim, but I was not able to go down there with him.

We loved staying here for a week. It is very private and the secluded but not too far from town. Since the owner had the kitchen stocked with all cooking essentials, we shopped in town and prepared most meals here. By eating in, we saved our money for whale watching and trips to other islands. We enjoyed starting each day with a dip in the hot tub and ending the evening sipping wine on one of the decks at sunset. The owner answered all my questions ahead of time so we were well prepared for the trip. You do need to rent a car to get to town and around the island. I would definitely recommend this rental for any couple looking for a peaceful spot for a romantic getaway. The end of our stay was highlighted by a golden eagle soaring just over the deck. We plan to stay here the next time we visit the San Juan Islands.

We have rented this property on two occasions for a week and for 2 weeks. Everything promised is accurate. Owner quite honest and accurate. Privacy and independence with fantastic view and clean simple accommodations. Perfectly located. Just a bit out of town, but close enough. The view is spectacular from upper and lower decks. Ideal for the vacationer who wants location, not glitz. Driveway is dirt and steep. AWD vehicle is best.

The view and setting of Petit Amour is amazing!!! We spent 4 days of our honeymoon here and just lazed around the house, cooked most of our meals, swam in the pool, & soaked in the hot tub. While this is not a 5 star hotel, if you are looking for privacy, beauty, and quiet, this is the place of you!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful get away! We truly enjoyed the incredible views of the channel and Orcas Island, the saltwater pool, jaccuzzi and sauna. The waterfall at night is magical. We will definitely return.
