My friends and I (along with a very handsome Boxer doggie) stayed for a long weekend of wine-tasting and absolutely loved the cottage! It was a nice quiet location and we felt like it was truly a "getaway." The deck is fantastic, and has a great view of the surroundings. The owner was very responsive and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to a friend! Thanks for a great weekend!

Very quiet, secluded, and yet just minutes from wineries, paso Robles, and Cambria. Wood flooring throughout made it feel homey. Lots of stars and a sunny deck. Full kitchen and BBQ. My wife and dog and I enjoyed it greatly, easily ok for 4 people.

We loved our week's stay at the clean and delightful cottage! Location, location, location! It's close to everything but away from it all in a wonderful country setting. We toured the central California coast from Arroyo Grande to Big Sur, wonderful beaches, old California missions, Hearst Castle and the wineries, we lost count!!! We'd certainly recommend this property, you'll get a fast, courteous reply, exactly as advertised.

The Cottage was more than we imagined. It is nestled in a small canyon a few minutes off the highway. We were surprised how conveniently located it was. Went to Hearst Castle the day before we were to stay at the Cottage and stayed at a place in Cambria thinking that the Cottage was too far away (foolish thinking). Unlike twenty years ago Hwy. 46 is now a straight shot from the coast. It was only minutes before we came upon the turn off. If we had been aware of that we would have increased our stay. The Cottage is centrally located enough to make visits to Morro Bay to the south or Hearst Castle to the north along the coast and is located in the winery region of Paso Robles. You can be as connected as you want (my cell had 4 bars) and as secluded as you could possibly be. The large deck overlooking the valley and the wood burning stove were a nice addition to the experience. It was quiet, clean, bright and airy. Highly recommended!

We recently stayed in the home here in Paso and was extremely happy with all the home trimmings, comfort and cleanliness when we arrived. Its' location is central to downtown Paso for dinning and very convenient to all the local wineries. We do plan on coming back in the summer time to enjoy the home again!

A girlfriend and I enjoyed a delightful 3-day getaway in Paso this week. I can't imagine being more comfortable and cozy than we were in this adorable, spacious and well-equipped cottage. We really got the sense that the owners added their special touches to make sure that the experience was one to remember. Choose hiking, biking or just hanging out. Only about 15 minutes away from downtown Paso Robles, we were able to enjoy the solitude of the cottage and still go exploring and discovering some very cool restaurants and friendly people, too. I highly recommend this rental with spectacular views and all the comforts of home!

We recently rented this property over the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday. We cooked a full holiday dinner in the well stocked kitchen. The overall property was clean, well appointed, comfortable and in the perfect location. It is well suited for 2-4 guests. The deck is very large with great views to watch the wild turkeys and deer roam across the property. It is secluded yet only minutes from Paso Robles, great local wineries and the beach in Cambria. It will be on top of the list for rental properties the next time we are in Paso Robles.

Shadow Canyon cottage was the ideal place for my family and I to spend a long anticipated getaway. We only wish we could have spent a few more days so we could have enjoyed all of the little things the place had to offer, like the barbeque or the Christmas lights on the back porch. We didn't get to enjoy the beautiful outdoor furniture for as long as we'd have liked because of the chilly nights, but we did enjoy the stars for what bits of time we were out. The place is ideally placed for excursions to wineries, hikes in the park, and walks along the Cambria seafront, and would be completely stocked for cooking in and enjoying time at home!

My partner, son dog, and I had a fabulous retreat at Canyon Shadows. The location was great for exploring a variety of places and coming home to have a glass of wine on the deck was equally pleasurable. Our son loved looking at the myriad of stars through the telescope provided. We also saw a variety of wildlife. We loved our week long stay and intend on going back!

We had a great time staying at the cottage. This was a second stay for us and this year it was even better. The landscaping and added flowers around the cottage were an improvement on something we thought was already perfect. Staying at the cottage is ever so relaxing and yet close enough to anything you would want to do from wine tasting, to taking a stroll through Cambria, to hanging out at Pismo, or sunning at the beach. The cottage has all the added touches to give you the conveniences of home and it is always hard to leave. Thanks Kate and I’m sure we will see you (well your cottage), next year.

Similar to other reviewers, my husband and I (from SF) met our friends from LA at this charming cottage. The location is really ideal - you truly feel removed from the bustle of a city, but are conveniently close to wineries and the coast. We saw wild turkeys, hawks, horses, and deer during our stay. I went for runs along Shadow Canyon Road during the mornings. I only wish we had brought our road bikes! We hired a driver for our day of wine tasting at the nearby wineries - everything worked out perfectly. Regarding the house, it is well stocked and well furnished, for the most part. The deck offers great lounging space, and we really utilized the grill while we were there. There are ample kitchen supplies (olive oil, spices, napkins, pots, pans, etc), as well as plenty of linen items. The only complaint I have is the trundle bed. I didn't find it to be comfortable for my husband and me. I am uncertain why there isn't a full size bed in there, as there seems to be enough room. Overall, it is a very inviting space with great outdoor space with loads of flowers and spices to really make it feel cozy. I would definitely stay here again.

We were very pleased with the accommodations & super location. It was wonderful for long walks. The Golden loved it. Paso Robles has some of the best wineries in California. We went home with many bottles to keep the memories alive. Look forward to a return visit.

We loved our stay at the Cottage at Shadow Canyon. The cottage is quaint, pretty, quiet, private, and comfortable. If other people were staying in the Manor House, we couldn't tell. We enjoyed sitting out on the peaceful deck watching the sunset and listening to crickets, frogs, and owls. The horses and turkeys were there to see in the morning. We will definitely be back to the cottage for future visits. The care takers Bert and Kris were helpful when we arrived, as was Kate, who checked in to make sure we got settled in okay. Thanks! The full kitchen had everything we needed, and we had plenty of towels and blankets. Definitely a wonderful play to stay.

We had a wonderful weekend in the cottage. The dog loved running around in the yard, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet on the deck. This was our first trip to the Paso area and the Shadow Canyon Cottage was a perfect place to stay for the two of us. We loved being out in the countryside, particularly with the fantastic deck to sit on. Great deck furniture - comfy chairs, dining table and chairs, bench seats, grill and lots and lots of flowers. If it gets too hot, there is even an awning to block out the sun. A very, very inviting place to wile away the hours. The listing photos give you a feel for how nice the deck is, but it is even nicer in person. The kitchen was very well-equipped. We only cooked breakfast but everything was there if you wanted to do more cooking. We opted instead to eat dinner at some of Paso's excellent restaurants. Even though you feel like you are way out in the country, you can be in downtown Paso in 15 minutes. Kate, the owner's agent, was great to work with. Ours was a late booking and I had several questions that I kept emailing (hairdryer? - yes, washer and dryer? yes, with detergent and bleach supplied) since we were travelling with just carry-ons. She checked on us via email to make sure we had arrived and settled in. We never saw her, but I felt I could easily contact her if necessary. We know from Kate that someone was living in the other house just up the hill, but the only living creatures we saw were the horses in the field next door and the deer that wandered through the yard. It is a very private place. We were sorry that we were there for only 3 nights so that we might have taken more advantage of hiking and biking. Instead, we used what time we had visiting the wineries and exploring (by car) many country roads around Paso, Templeton and Atascadero. Very nice wines everywhere you go and wonderful scenery. We would highly recommend Shadow Canyon. We hope to return ourselves for a longer stay.

The cottage is very much as advertised on the VRBO page. We were not disappointed! The kitchen is well stocked and we didn't have trouble working the TV controls or connecting with Wi-Fi for internet access. The location is close to many fine wineries. The cottage is far enough from the house we felt we were on a separate property. The dog enjoyed her walks up the canyon road, as we did (very light traffic). The owner provided great tips on restaurants, wineries, a deli, and shopping for deals on wine! We hope to stay again and use the deck in good weather (it rained 4 of the 5 days).

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our dog in early April. The cottage is comfortable and the view from the deck was wonderful (the pictures don't do it justice - you can see a small lake and roaming horses from the deck!). Every night, my husband and I made plans to venture into town for dinner, but we usually ended up sipping wine and enjoying appetizers on the comfortable deck lounge chairs while watching the sunset instead! There is plenty of closet space and ample space in the kitchen for cooking. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. Our dog loved the property and enjoyed the open space. This cottage is the perfect for a relaxing getaway. It is located about 15 minutes from downtown Paso and 15 minutes from the Cambria area. Also, there are MANY great wineries within a few minutes drive. However, the cottage itself is tucked away in a quiet canyon. I highly recommend staying at the Shadow Canyon Cottage and we will most definitely return when we need to get away from the city!

We are from L.A. and met up with our friends from the Bay Area at this lovely cottage - the perfect place to meet in the middle. We found the cottage to be very comfortable and cozy. The beds were comfortable - even the trundle bed! The living area is warm and inviting, with a deliciously deep sofa that enfolds you in its plushness. The kitchen is well stocked with all that you need to prepare a nice meal. The highlight for us was the balcony. It is a fantastic place to sit, with nothing but the sound of the breeze and birds, and views of the surrounding natural environment. We had breakfast and dinner outside each day, and felt like we were the only people for miles around. We were surprised to find out the the upper "Manor" was occupied. The cottage can be rented without concern for whether the other, larger home is in use. As it turns out, we did get a chance to visit the Manor house, and were extremely impressed. We are already planning to book it when we come back with a larger group.

Our family, from NorCal and SoCal met here for a weekend of family times and a baseball tourney. The house could not have been a better pick for us! The two chefs in the family were quite comfortable with the kitchen set up and there was plenty of room for the grandkids to have their own space and allow the grownups their own tv. We enjoyed walks, watching wildlife and the stars and the swing! This was a perfect set-up for us and we're hoping daughter #3 will join us next year and we'll rent both houses! We enjoyed the local wineries, picked pumpkins at Jack Creek and celebrated our team winning the tourney!! We will definitely return with friends for a couples' retreat. Thank you for making your home available!

we stayed in this 2 house complex on a beautiful hillside in the central coast wine country. There were 10 of us and the unique layout of the property offered us plenty of indoor and outdoor space to gather while still allowing private space. The pool and hot tub are great. Everything is clean and well managed. We are looking forward to a possible return to the property next year. A definite find.

This is a GREAT place! As soon as you turn off Highway 101, you're surrounded by lovely vineyards. The main house is beautifully decorated and full of comfy couches and you'll never want to leave the deck. My friends and I had two little kids (1 year olds) and they were very safe here and had lots of fun. The pool area is fenced off so that was no problem and the hot tub was a treat. We also rented the small house but if you were renting it separately from the main house you would very much feel like you had your privacy. The grounds are serene and stargazing is incredible. ENJOY!! We did!
