We had a family reunion for Christmas 2011 and rented the property including the apartment. There were 11 of us including 3 kids ages 2, 5, and 9, and grandparents. The house was perfect! Fantastic location: walking distance to two beaches, easy drive to shops and restaurants, but still in quiet residential neighborhood. Landlord was easy to get hold of (we thought the fridge had gone out, but we had just packed it too full!) and very easy to deal with. The house itself was in great shape, very clean, and well stocked with linens and towels. We would absolutely recommend this property to interested renters! Zac, thanks for making our stay in Hawaii so easy and stress free!

This vacation home is a block from the water, close to town and activities, spacious, clean and great for families. You will also enjoy the game room and pool! Our family and friends would recommend this vacation rental.

We absolutely loved this house!! We were with a large group of people and we all had our own space. I especially loved that it had a pool and was only minutes from the beach. At the time my baby was only 15 months old so it was great that I could put him down for a nap and still enjoy time by the pool without having to be in the room with him like I would at a hotel or condo resort. It was well equiped with fun things to take to the beach and everything we needed to cook right at home!! The neighborhood was very quiet and My family and I will definately be going back to this house!! You can't go wrong!!

My family has been staying at the Akai Hale for several years. We come for two weeks every spring and choose to stay at the Akai Hale for location, large accommodations and price. The Smiths are great to work with and are always responsive to our needs. The house has everything for a wonderful family vacation. It's comfortable, clean and very spacious. The pool is right off the kitchen (ping pong in the rec room) so the kids stay busy when were not at the beach or exploring. The downstairs unit is perfect when we brought my parents last year, they were pleased to be with us but had a little quite area to escape to when needed. For days with no big plans the location is ultra convenient, a quick walk to magic sands beach (a few blocks) and short trek to Kahaluu (the best snorkeling beach in our opinion). The Akai Hale is simply an outstanding value for families that want to enjoy the Big Island but don't want to spend a fortune doing so.

Looks really good; looks like you did improvements, like the paint colors. Good, accurate description of the property, enticing, I would definitely be interested if booking for my family. The prices seem really good considering the size and rooms available.
