Situated in the heart of southern Provence, between Aix and the Mediterranean coast, La Pitchounette is a tastefully renovated one storey cottage with a large private pool, terraces and views of the surrounding countryside.
Gréasque village, unspoilt and picturesque, is just a minutes drive away. Here you can buy your baguette and croissants at the local 'boulangerie', meat at the 'boucherie', fresh fruit and vegetables at the twice weekly morning market (Tuesday and Friday), along with other locally produced provisions such as cheese, olive oil, honey and freshly caught fish from the Mediterranean. Experience traditional French life by enjoying a coffee or an aperitif at one of the local cafés or relax watching the locals play a game of boules. However, if you have spent too much time soaking up the French life and seeing the sights, the convenience of a large supermarket can be found on the outskirts of the village.
Should you be feeling more energetic, there are great hiking, biking and running trails to be found in the communal forest surrounding the village. Trail maps can be found within the comprehensive guide provided in the cottage.
La Pitchounette is perfectly placed for exploring Provence. You have the Mediterranean coast with its beaches, quaint fishing ports, the Carmargue and the Cote Bleu, the natural coves of the Calanques and the towns of Cassis, St Cyr, Bandol and onto the chic resorts of the Cote d'Azur. Inland, you can discover vineyards and the lavender fields around the hill-top villages of the Luberon - Gordes, Menerbes, Rousillon etc. Aix-En-Provence is one of the most popular cities in France. It was the home of the artist Paul Cézanne and is famed for its many historical buildings, winding cobbled streets and numerous cafés and restuarants. Some of the best examples of Roman architecture are found throughout the region including Arles, Nimes and Orange. Just a short drive away there is something to suit everyone.
After enjoying a day exploring the area, what better way to relax than on your own terrace sipping a long, cold drink or cooling off in the clear waters of your own private pool.
