Situated in the heart of southern Provence, between Aix and the Mediterranean coast, La Pitchounette is a tastefully renovated one storey cottage with a large private pool, terraces and views of the surrounding countryside.
Gréasque village, unspoilt and picturesque, is just a minutes drive away. Here you can buy your baguette and croissants at the local 'boulangerie', meat at the 'boucherie', fresh fruit and vegetables at the twice weekly morning market (Tuesday and Friday), along with other locally produced provisions such as cheese, olive oil, honey and freshly caught fish from the Mediterranean. Experience traditional French life by enjoying a coffee or an aperitif at one of the local cafés or relax watching the locals play a game of boules. However, if you have spent too much time soaking up the French life and seeing the sights, the convenience of a large supermarket can be found on the outskirts of the village.
Should you be feeling more energetic, there are great hiking, biking and running trails to be found in the communal forest surrounding the village. Trail maps can be found within the comprehensive guide provided in the cottage.
La Pitchounette is perfectly placed for exploring Provence. You have the Mediterranean coast with its beaches, quaint fishing ports, the Carmargue and the Cote Bleu, the natural coves of the Calanques and the towns of Cassis, St Cyr, Bandol and onto the chic resorts of the Cote d'Azur. Inland, you can discover vineyards and the lavender fields around the hill-top villages of the Luberon - Gordes, Menerbes, Rousillon etc. Aix-En-Provence is one of the most popular cities in France. It was the home of the artist Paul Cézanne and is famed for its many historical buildings, winding cobbled streets and numerous cafés and restuarants. Some of the best examples of Roman architecture are found throughout the region including Arles, Nimes and Orange. Just a short drive away there is something to suit everyone.
After enjoying a day exploring the area, what better way to relax than on your own terrace sipping a long, cold drink or cooling off in the clear waters of your own private pool.
This charming cottage comprises a fully equipped open plan Provencal style kitchen with a large lounge/dining area opening onto the pool terrace. The two bedrooms have doors opening onto the garden. One has a double bed, the second has three single beds. The cottage comfortably sleeps five people but will accommodate six with the use of the sofa bed in the lounge. Should you be visiting us during the cooler seasons, the cottage is fully centrally heated.
Accessibility - Marseille (Marignane)Intl. Airport is served by major airlines such as British Airways from the UK and Air France from Paris (hub for many US airlines) and other French regional airports. It is also served by some of the UK budget airline (eg. Ryanair and Easy Jet) who fly from London and other British regional airports. These budget airlines also serve the regional airports of Nimes and Toulon (approx. 60 mins. away). Nice Intl. Airport is approximately 90 minutes away.
The TGV train to both Aix and Marseille takes just three hours from Paris and links with the UK Eurostar.
We have been living in the area for the past 9 years, so can provide much information on all aspects of the area. Available in the cottage is a folder packed with brochures, maps and personal recommendations - restaurants, beaches, vineyards etc. We would like to share our knowledge of this fantastic area of France with you and hope you will come and discover some of the pleasures we have had the good fortune to experience.

We are not ready to go home yet! Still loads of places to explore. The best bit was coming 'home' to the pool.

We have just spent an absolutely wonderful week here at La Pitchounette. It was perfect for us - we were very comfortable and loved our time here. We did much exploring - down to the beach (Cassis and La Ciotat) and up to the Luberon. We hope to be back soon.
