The perfect place to gather our family.

Guest: The Cares
Date of Stay: 04/07/12 Review Submitted: 05/09/12

This house and cottage were the perfect place to gather our family from Michigan, Nebraska and Montana. We never lacked for fun things to do, from a lot of simple strolls down the beach to the NaPali catamaran ride. The whales we saw on that tour entertained us-coming easily 20 ft from the boat. The seasoned captains had their cameras out. We also saw whales from the lighthouse, the Limipuli Gardens and the Hanakapi'ai falls hike. The weather was great. Our family enjoyed the chickens, we'll miss their cheerful calls. Mahalo, for providing this haven this has been a week we'll remember.

We all loved our Kauai home for 9 days! Family meals were fun and easy to prepare with the well equipped kitchen. Love the waves, sunrises, sunsets, beach, coffee house down the road and Hawaiian food. We are sad to leave but excited to come back. Thanks so much for the great memories.

Nice family retreat home

Guest: Clark family4 (Bainbridge Island, WA)
Date of Stay: 02/03/12 Review Submitted: 02/13/12

Our family rallied from WA, WI and OR to meet at the relaxing Hale Aloha home for nine night's. The home is a great location for walk's down the beach, hiking, morning coffee a few steps away, wonderful outdoor showers, family meals prepared together and enjoyed in the dining room. The seas were pretty disturbed during our stay so we headed south for some great boogey boarding a bit North of Kappa and also Haneli Bay. This has been a wonderful experience for our families and we all felt sad about leaving. Bev and Doug are very professional about communication which makes the stay so much more relaxing, this will be fought to top!!! Look forward to visiting their Escalante property sometime.

Date of Stay: 09/25/11 Review Submitted: 10/26/11

Doug & Bev, Our second visit to Hale Aloha was as special as our first; and this time we were able to share it with very close friends. Sorry we didn't see you this trip, but perhaps in the future. With warmest regards and Mahalo! P.S. - Our son & new wife wanted us to note how very much they enjoyed spending their honeymoon in the Garden Cottage last July. They were really jealous of us!!

House comfortable & welcoming

Guest: Marie & Ken
Date of Stay: 08/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/26/11

This comfortable house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 3 young children. Thanks for having the high chair and baby gate! We loved the large living/kitchen area with the beautiful lush green and ocean views. We were thrilled to find the kitchen well-equipped. Beds were great. We actually enjoyed waking up to the rooster calls - never bothered us at all. Wish the beach out front were safe for kids-its not. However, we drove to different gorgeous N & E shore beaches everyday. Bought delicious fresh fish & poke often at Hanalei Dolphin Fish Market and treated ourselves regularly with Lapperts ice cream in Princeville. Our biggest splurge was Nalu Kai Grill at St. Regis, Princeville. Sunset magazine recommended their ginger-cucumber-margarita, & it was fabulous. Our 10 days here went all too fast. Thank you for making this house so comfortable & welcoming for a family retreat. From: Granite Bay, CA

What a perfect place in which to celebrate our parent's 50th wedding anniversary! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. The accommodations were perfect for our family, and the site was close to many great beaches. We enjoyed several meals in your well-appointed kitchen, and the "Wishing Well" shave ice was definitely a highlight of the week. Thanks again for helping to enable a truly special and memorable trip! Aloha from Minnesota & Colorado

Doug, Bev, Patricia, Thank you so much for your hospitality and the blessing of using your beautiful beach house. There were 8 of us girls who enjoyed sunsets, windsurfing, snorkeling, boat tour, lots of beach time, sushi, shopping, scuba diving (1 of us), swimming relaxing, fun conversation, taking in the beauty of the island, walks & jogging, cooking in your beautiful kitchen, farmers market, freaking out about the biggest centipede we've ever seen, etc, etc. We are grateful for these experiences and are feeling refreshed before getting back to the routine. Thanks again & God bless you! From: Ohio & Indiana

House is amazing, clean & cozy, just perfect

Guest: Kelsey & Kelsey - Lafayette, CA
Date of Stay: 06/12/11 Review Submitted: 10/26/11

Aloha Patricia, Beverly, I wanted to say thank you so much for making our stay last week in Kauai so wonderful! My family loved the house and it was just as Sami and I remembered it. I think even the roosters were quieter this time! We had a wonderful time and the house is amazing. So clean and cozy and just perfect. Patricia - thanks for stopping by and answering all our questions, as well as entertaining Ali. She's still working on her "shockaaaa!!!" We really enjoyed the outdoor shower downstairs and it was so great to have such a big table to gather around at mealtimes. The lanai got a lot of use - from those of us unafraid of the mosquitoes! And we made use of the puzzles you had, as well as some of the beach reading. Several in our family are fast readers, so I think we got through 3-4 books while we were there. Thanks again, and looking forward to next time. Mahalo

Hi Beverly, Thanks for the heads up on the security deposit refund. I will keep an eye out. The Hale Aloha house was lovely and we enjoyed our stay on the north side very much. We experienced a huge thunderstorm late Friday night which took out the power until mid-morning Saturday, but it was way cool! I haven't been in such a good thunderstorm for some time due to the weak monsoons we have had for the past couple of years. My husband and I hiked the first 2 miles of the Kalalau Trail early on Saturday and had sun all the way to the beach. Then the clouds rolled in and we hiked the return trip in alternating downpours and sprinkles. It was great and we felt like intrepid explorers (although we had to be quite careful in some parts). Everyone enjoyed just listening to the surf in the evening - so relaxing. Thanks again for sharing your home with us.

I loved staying here in Kauai. My family and I got to go on this awesome helicopter ride!!! Also, we went to Waimea Canyon and it was really pretty :) Then we hiked 8 miles to the 3,000 ft waterfall of the Napali Coast. It was beautiful but tiring and our group got separated a few times. Other than the roosters in the morning we had a GREAT time here in Kauai. Lily Hallett and the rest of the family

Hale Aloha and the guest cottage was the perfect place for a family reunion and a "BIG" birthday celebration. The house could not have been better for our clan- so comfortable, spacious and we really felt like we were in Hawaii. Great location, lovely beaches, glorious Kauai. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful house and cottage with us. This was a dream vacation come true. Patricia is great fun, so helpful and gave us great advice about where to go and what to do- and not do. The house, cottage and property are well maintained and equipped. We loved being here! Now if you can make the loathsome roosters go away life would be perfect. Many thanks, Lori Friedman and Family

FANTABULOUS! Omg, we really are deeply in love with the glorious and luscious plants, animals and the wide waterfront. The tangy tastes of the tropical fruit, while relaxing on the springy sand, compliment the hush and rise of the waves lapping against the shore so harmoniously. Only good feelings can come froth as we sit in this cozy house, jamming on our guitars, and singing to the birds and the Humpback wales. The journey in our hearts always seems to follow the path to luminous Kauai. Amen, all of us lovers, Olivia Friedman and the family. California, Seattle. P.S. I wrote this (13 years old).

We enjoyed every single day of our stay here in Kauai! The rain storm on Wednesday night was particularly exciting, but we relaxed through the rain and played when the sun came out. The house is very well appointed and conductive to relaxation. (And the internet was fast when we had to be "connected"!) The outside grill was fantastic, too. We hope to return- MAHALO! A wonderful place for a family reunion. Lots of laughs & fun times-especially games with the littlies! Nan Nan & Poppa G particularly appreciated their haven in the Garden Cottage!! & showering in the rain in the jungle!! A pity the beach out front wasn't swimable however we loved Ke'e beach, Tunnels, the estuaries at Kalihiwai & Lumahai beaches. The surf at the latter was amazing!! Highlights: Fantastic massage at Hanalei Day Spa-by the sea. Queen's Bath-well worth the trek as long as there's not a big surf Wonderful art by local artists. We bough a beautiful piece by Kali Randolph Golf at Princeville-rather challenging-loss a few balls Helicopter flight over the NaPali coast etc. The Rowell Family Aukland, New Zealand Brooklyn, NY

This was a wonderful relaxing week with our whole family. We were celebrating our youngest son's graduation from college. Thank you for sharing your peaceful home with all. The location could not be better. We enjoyed our dinners out @ Mediterranean Restaurant close by, Dolphin fish. Our children & spouse & girlfriends cooked as well. Watching the sun rise, 5:40 am, across the road was very nice. Just sitting @ night & listening to the waves is very soothing. Thank you for your hospitality The Smith Family Fort Collins, CO

The many large windows that surround the upstairs kitchen living/dining room look right out onto the ocean is the most beautiful blues I have ever seen. To cook in the large kitchen and watch the ocean-really what could be better. I also enjoyed the hammock on the front porch-the perfect place to read! At night I would slip across the road to the ocean and feel so calm with the waves and the infinite stars above. Although the road seems like it would noisy, you rarely can hear anything tucked away in the house but the constant sound of the waves. It was also so wonderful to have that coffee shop just down the beach. Truly heaven to walk along the beach to get delicious drinks! And the beach by the coffee shop is perfect for shell hunting/coral gathering. Everything about this house is so welcoming & peaceful. The outdoor shower is also a slice of heaven. Zip lining is a must. We went on the "wikiwiki 2 hour one but wished we had gone on the larger "tree top" tour. The Farmers Markets are the only place you should buy your fruits/veggies! For a posh evening go the Regis resort in Princeville, watch the sunset & dirk a pineapple mojito. Mahalo, Isabelle Brosnahan Colorado

Well, we are sadly packing up to leave-there was not one day that wasn't perfect-rain included! Hale Aloha was such a wonderful, hospitable home-Patricia was charming and helpful in every way This house envelopes you-daytime, evening-it doesn't matter!! Watching the weather sweep in is magical. We enjoyed making dinner every night, (except one), watching the ocean change, the sunset-the quiet of the evening settle in. We so appreciate the opportunity to "live" on the north shore of Kauai. The rain, the chickens-all of it was charming. Tamara Leonard is a masseuse extraordinaire-having a massage outside in the breeze, listening to the surf just can't be beat. TRY IT!! I really can't think of anything that we needed that wasn't provided for us- With greatest appreciation The Carrs San Diego, CA

The house and cottage worked very well together for our two-family group, and the lanai is perfect. As I mentioned when we first spoke, this was the 21st year the two families have vacationed together, and the last one before our daughters graduate college next spring. We know that future trips won't be the same, and this was a great way to wrap up this phase. That said, we have already begun pondering when we might be able to return. Many, many thanks. Wanted you to know how much we LOVED your home and our stay in Kauai! Thinking about renting it again next year for a short visit the beginning of June. I need to figure out when Jess is out of school. She will be leaving June 15th for a summer long voyage with the Semester at Sea program. Are you familiar with it? Anyway we will talk again soon. This is our 3rd trip to Kauai, 2nd time to stay in Haena. I would recommend your home and this area to anyone!! Sitting out on the front lanai in the evenings (with a little bug spray) was my favorite part of the day. Very peaceful and relaxing (2nd favorite sitting at the kitchen counter, early morning and looking out over the ocean!) Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. It was perfect. We also thank Patricia. She was tremendously helpful, especially since we arrived in late evening. Enjoy your time here, I know your daughters will love it!! P.S. We loved the rooster!! Things to enjoy: -Capt Andy's sailing adventures(we took the 1:30 on snorkel, dinner, sailing cruise) -Silver Falls Ranch Horseback Riding (we took the 3 hour ride, swim, picnic tour. Suki, our guide, was great!!) -Outfitters Kauai - Kipu falls Zipline Safari (fun for everyone!!) -Kayaking the Hanalei River

Glorious. Wow, beautiful, marvelous that is just he beginning. It was my 1st time for Kauai and Hawaii. The beaches were great. Different from my beach in New jersey. We had a family vacation. There was 11 of us. 3 from New Jersey, 5 from Prescott, AZ and 3 from Colorado. The house was so accommodating. The weather was great. Kitchen was so big, so we could all eat together. High chair came in handy. It was so different waking up to the sound of rooster. The water was fantastic! It was a vacation that none of us will never forget. Now we are off to to on Blue Hawaiian helicopter to finish off a perfect vacation. Aloha and thanks again!
