My cousin and I vacationed in Caberete to celebrate my 40th Birthday!. There are no words to describe our stay at Villa Cosa Loma however, I'll use the word "free". That's how we felt during our week stay, no pressure or rush to do anything. The house was very clean and equipped with everything you can imagine, even a charcoal grill that we cooked on for two nights. Marianne and Tony are the best! they made sure everything was up to par during our stay and, we shared talks and laughs together I now consider them my friends. Everything about this trip was excellent, the food, the people, the beach, and the motor taxi rides were fun and convenient although we preferred to walk most of the time. New Year's Eve on the beach was one of the best experiences I've had with fireworks and people jumping in the water to celebrate the new year coming in. New Year's day we went horseback riding in the mountains and that was beautiful. We did not want to leave Villa Cosa Loma but it's good to know that one day I'll be returning. Thanks Heather and Lou for opening the doors to "freedom". It's a trip that I'll never forget.
Owner response:Hello Katrice. We are so glad you allowed us to be part of your 40th! We were pleased that your celebrations took place at the villa and in Cabarete. We very much enjoyed your stay with us and will look forward to your return. Heather & Lou

We had a great vacation at Villa Casa Loma. We are 4 women in our 50's who saw the website about this villa and fell in love with the idea of having our own pool and private accomodation versus an all inclusive. We loved it! We went to the grocery store on our first day and bought breakfast/snack stuff, wine/beer. It was so nice to get up when we felt like it, have some coffee, toast, yogurt, eggs, then the hard part....deciding whether it was going to be a "pool day" or "beach day". The restaurants on the beach were excellent, we had great food and loved the choices. We even got daring and got on back of some motorcycle taxi's instead of walking back to the villa. We all agreed we should have done that more often, very safe and fun. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Marianne and Tony were very helpful and we appreciated that they checked on us to enquire if everything was good. We have all agreed that this was by far the best vacation, we did what we wanted, no schedule to follow just whatever our little hearts desired :-) We also agree that Ali's surf camp was a great place for dinner, very close to the villa, we went twice...casual, friendly, and very good prices. We have not stopped talking about our trip since we got back. The best part - skinny dipping each night after coming home from a fabulous dinner! Heather, one of the things I appreciated was that you answered all questions in my e-mails back and forth to you before we actually booked and also the fact that everything was exactly as you stated. Thank you so much and we look forward to being there again next year. Heather, Carol Ann, Lorraine and Colleen
Owner response:Thank you so much for your glowing review. We really enjoyed having you at the villa and look forward to your return. Experiencing the freedom of making your own choices allows for a liberating and restful vacation. You were all perfect guests! Thank you for trusting us.

Villa Casa Loma is a real find. I've stayed there twice and now consider it my Cabarete home. You get so much for such a reasonable price. The owners Heather and Lou are so warm and welcoming. We love the garden and the pool, morning, noon and night. The kitchen and the patio have everything you need to entertain a crowd, which we did the last time we were there. Marianne and Tony, the local representatives, are wonderful. They're there to help you with anything you need, from lost luggage to medical services, and we had both on our last visit. Cabarete is a laid back beach town with lots of good food and drink at reasonable prices. One of the best things about Villa Casa Loma is it's a two minute walk to Ali's surf camp, our favorite restaurant. My only reluctance in writing this review is I don't want to find it booked when I go next time, which I certainly will.
Owner response:Thank you very much!!! We are looking forward to your return!

I spent 2 weeks at the villa last year and was already planning my 2010 stay. The pictures do not do the property justice! The house is immaculate and there is a housekeeper who comes twice a week. There are more than enough towels, sheets and blankets. The pool and grounds are kept sparkeling clean as the groundskeepers/hosts, Tony and Marianne, come every morning. They are friendly and knowledgeable without being bothersome. The kitchen in large and fully equipped with modern equipement. I love to cook and was never missing anything. The location is perfect! It is like having your cake and eating it too. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the grocery store, restaurants and clubs. However, the property is located in a nice quiet neighbourhood that makes you feel at home and safe. The driver who met us was courteous, professional and the vehicle was clean and safe. The house has ceiling fans and is also air conditioned. The is also a phone, a television with cable, a DVD and a CD player and a charcoal BBQ. Everything functions perfectly. I cannot find a single negative thing to say about this property.
Owner response:Thank you so much. We are looking forward to your return! Heather & Lou

In February and March of 2010 my husband and I rented Villa Casa Loma for 21 days. We researched rentals on the internet and out of the numerous rentals our final decision was Villa Casa Loma. The Villa is very well maintained and clean. The yard is very well kept and it was so nice to have our own private pool which was cleaned daily. Having the yard with the natural vegetation and palms let us be apart of authentic Dominican living. The Villa is equipped with a full kitchen and we really enjoyed cooking some of our meals as well as shopping at the local super market. The villa also has laundry facilities. The Villa is located in a very safe community in Cabarete. I walked alone to the town centre as well as the market and felt safe. Everything we needed was within walking distance or just a short taxi ride. We really enjoyed Cabarete and the people were very friendly. The property managers at the Villa are two amazing people that had our best interest at heart and truly made our vacation a pleasant one. We truly enjoyed the aspect of our own privacy that resorts don’t have. Renting the villa was very economical for us and we are planning our next visit.
