Situated on the spectacular Island of Taveuni, this spacious, 1200 square foot home, Marau Vale [Happy House] offers the ultimate essence of Fiji island living. Taveuni Island is known as "The Garden Island of Fiji" because of its magnificently lush jungle vegetation.
There are numerous exotic and culturally interesting excursions available (nature hikes, spectacular waterfalls, native villages, etc). The snorkeling is excellent and the scuba diving world-renowned. Here on this magical island of Taveuni you will find ethereal Fiji... un-spoiled, un-commercial, un-complicated, un-crowded and un-forgettable.
The home features over 2 acres of gorgeous and beautifully maintained tropical gardens with spacious lawns, exotic plants and flowers. Our beach is over 400 feet long and of golden white sand. Inside the house is extremely comfortable and features all modern amenities.
Although bugs are rarely a problem in Fiji, the whole home is fully screened. The decor features considerable art collected throughout the world (East Africa, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Australia, Egypt, Central and South America, etc.).
There are three bedrooms and one and one-half baths. The master bedroom has an high quality imported king-sized bed with pure Egyptian cotton bedding. Adjoining the master bedroom there is also a large 100 square foot rock wall enclosed outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. Showering under the moon and stars while overlooking the ocean is a favorite of all our guests. The second bedroom offers one double bed and one twin-sized bed. The third bedroom offers two twin-sized beds, yet this room is rather small and best suitable for children. All furniture throughout the house is new and thus in superb condition.
Daily living in Fiji finds us mostly out-of-doors, and this is where Marau Vale truly shines. The decks and patio encompass 1250 sq. ft. of majestic ocean views and are outfitted with wonderfully comfortable furnishings, a huge BBQ area, and several different dining areas.
In addition to the large decks and patios adjoining the house, we have another 250 square foot deck located in the garden area overlooking the beach. A wonderful place to escape and totally relax. We also have a 12 ft. skiff outfitted with an outboard engine, and our staff will gladly take you several near-by small islands for snorkeling or just to relax on the beach of a totally deserted island.
All your needs will be fulfilled by Maureen and Sireli, our two wonderful full-time caretakers who live on the property in a separate house. Maureen will gladly assist in cooking meals or to take care of full meal preparations if you specifically request. She also oversees all general housekeeping chores (daily cleaning of the house, washing dishes, washing/drying of clothes, etc., etc.) They both are trained in massage and offer our Marau Vale guests a full one-hour massage for only USD$12/hr. Most guests indulge themselves at least several times a week. Sireli is also an accomplished guitarist, and both he and Maureen have beautiful singing voices. They love to serenade our guests with melodic Fijian songs during the evening hours. You are certain to fall in love with these two most gracious hosts.
Close by there are several quaint restaurants. Two small general stores are within easy walking distance. Also available near-by are rental horses, ocean kayaks, and world-renowned scuba diving, etc.
