Ultimate Privacy! Comfy and Quiet Fernandina Beach Cottage
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
Amelia Island, specifically Fernandina Beach, is a beautiful and fun beach destination, without the summer heat usually associated with Florida. The tropical climate and beautiful beach is wonderful. We plan to retire here one day.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
A close walk to the beach, biking through Ft Clinch, shopping old town Fernandina Beach, and enjoying a summer drink on the patio makes our stays here restful and fun. The city recreation park only a few blocks away features skate board park, putt putt golf, basketball courts, play ground, and picnic areas. If you like thrift or consignment store shopping there are lots of wonderful shops on the island. The island has it's own movie theatre and wonderful resturants, not to forget golf courses.

This house was perfect for our family of nine. We liked the layout and the coziness of it. The children loved their play house under the stairs. Lots of activities nearby but it was a little too cold to enjoy some of them. Hope to someday return in warmer weather and enjoy all this house and town have to afford. I found the owner very easy to communicate with. I would definetely recommend this property.

I stayed here with my husbands family for a Christmas getaway. The house is cozy, with a roomy feeling open plan. Very clean and well appointed; kitchen fully stocked for making meals, a small "sand" room with a variety of beach toys and lounge chairs, nice outside porch, working fireplace (it was chilly when we were there!), Wi-Fi, washer/dryer... everything you need to feel at home. It's a very short walk to the beach and Fort Clinch State Park is within walking distance as well. My daughter and I love Amelia Island and this was a great house to spend time in while there! Next time I'll bring a bike (although you can rent them on the island), my daughter just learned how to ride yesterday and exploring the island would be so much fun from this spot! In addition to the State Park there are several children's play parks, one just down the street and bordering the beach. I wish I could remember the name of the Mexican restaurant we found - it was right next to a big grocery store and had excellent food.

We stayed here for 5 nights that were terrific. The house was clean, quiet and comfortable. We were very close to the beach and fort cinch, and a short car ride to town. There was a very helpful book with area attractions and resturant info in the house. It was very easy working with the owners, who were always informative and pleasant. I would stay here if in the area again.

We enjoyed staying at your home. It had everything we needed. Dinner at Slider's was excellent. Spent many hours looking for sharks teeth... never found any!

We're having a great time, the house is a perfect size for a family of 4 or more. We spent 2 long mornings on the beach, the weather has been nice for a FL summer. We chartered a fishing boat one morning, saw dolphin, and caught 2 nice barracude, a king mackeral, and 2 cobia (1 was 47lbs). My wife and daughter are at the Aveda Day Spa as I write, its much more affordable than the local resorts. We had a lot of fun at the Orange Park Kennel Club watching the Greyhounds race, we lost about $20.00 but had fun doing it. All in all we enjoyed the beach and hope to return soon for another week at Beach Walker.

We want to thank you for the use of your home. We enjoyed our week on Amelia immensely! We would love to come back in the future and stay with you again. Everything was comfortable and so enjoyable, close to the beach, private and spacious - it was perfect for the 4 of us. We really loved Amelia and can't wait to come back and explore some more. The beach was uncrowded and so beautiful - I don't know if I can wait another year to come back.

We enjoyed our stay in Fernandina and we're impressed with the area as an excellent famiy vacation spot. Lots of beach time, ate at some of the very good a restaurants and like the downtown shopping area. We hiked in Fort Clinch and found that was especially enjoyable. Also, we like the 2-hour boat tour up to Cumberland Island in GA. We saw several pods of dolphins, turtles and lots of sea birds. On Cumberland Island it was neat to see the wild horses grazing on the marsh grass.

The time we spent at this lovely house, was on a 4 day military pass for my husband, before he shipped off for Iraq. This house is less than 2 hours away from Ft. Stewart, Georgia. As a family we could not have chosen a better place for our last few days together other than home. The house is better than described in any of the reviews, in our opinion. We were very pleased with the size of the home it was very comfortable. The washer and dryer was great, we ended each night in the hot tub, with our 12 year old son, and 5 year old daughter. The Keycode to get it, was great. Entering the house was a piece of cake. The beach was really close enough to walk even with our 5 year old carrying her own toys without any complaints about the distance. The weather was beautiful, 70-80's in the first week of March. The beach is clean, and beautiful. A big thanks to Renee, she made everything very simple, the house is set up for ease of access and living the vacation life. We thought it would be great to be able to return to here, it was a great value, and a great place so we were sad to see the place was for sale.

This rental was the perfect winter getaway. We stayed there for New Year's week and had a great time in Amelia Island and Jacksonville. We were close to so many great outdoor activities even though it was not beach weather. My 21 month-old loved the nearby State Parks and the Jax Zoo (only 30 minutes away). Thank you for providing a great guestbook with wonderful suggestions of restaurants and activities! We also enjoyed the water cooler and the keyless entry. These little touches are what make this rental so great!
