2 Award Winning Eco Conversions,Sleep 6 & 10,Peak District Views,Nr Alton Towers - Troutsdale Farm: Old Shire Stables
- Minimum stay:3-7 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
At Troutsdale Farm there are 2 AWARD WINNING Eco barn conversions on the family farm in a quiet location, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, by Tittesworth Reservoir. Fully renovated by the owners with care and attention to detail, Troutsdale Farm offers quality accommodation of real character and charm and seamlessly combines all the old original features to still give a 'barn feel' with modern design and home comforts that make them ideal for family get-togethers. There are well equipped kitchens, hand crafted from oak with double belfast sinks, with large dining tables (seating 6 and 10). Both have spacious sitting areas with Clear view log burning stoves, flat screen TV and DVD player. There are en suites in both properties and exposed original beams, stone and brickwork and solid oak flooring on the 1st and 2nd floors. There is off road car parking and an enclosed garden area, ideal for sitting out and barbecues. Doorstep footpaths lead to circular nature trail
In November 2011 we won the 'MOST ECO-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY LET' category in the 'Fields of Opportunity' national competition and then went on to become the OVERALL WINNER out of all 5 categories
The greener features of the barn are carefully incorporated so that you hardly know they are there and require no expertise or knowledge. Central heating comes from the ground source heat pump and solar panels. Rainwater harvesting system works for all grey water. . Timbers replaced in the conversions were cut from local woods, and we have planted 20 acres of new woodland. The traditional lime plastered walls are painted in Earthbourne natural Clay paint, the windows are all made from wood and painted with organic linseed oil paints, Sheepswool insulation is used throughout the building, and natural clay aggregate forms the floor insulation in the limestone floor.
There are 4 herb borders from which guests can enjoy and pick their own herbs.
Both properties have been inspected by VISITENGLANDS ACCOMMODATION GRADING SCHEME and have been awarded 4 STARS as well as a coveted GOLD AWARD
The 2 properties can be booked seperately (sleeping either up to 6 or 10 + cots) or can be booked together sleeping up to a total of 16 + cots.
Due to the type of property and location both properties are not suitable for what is known as 'house party venue' or for 'louder' hen or stag parties - we can recommed other nearby places if you are after this type of accommodation
Payment for the booking will be arranged when we confirm your booking - with deposit requirement & full terms and conditions

Met up for Christmas. Lovely Christmas Cottage. Thank you for all the lovely touches that made it; real tree, real wreath, mince pies, decorations. Beautiful place, impressive conversion. A lovely week with family members from all over England, plus day visits from those in Machester and Birmingham. We'd love to return on day. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? What a delightful property - we all fell in love with it - would like to take it home with us! Thank your for providing entertainment for the girls - the music centre, was a great hit. Also extras like the flapjacks to die for. We've had a wonderful time and hope to return next year for another family reunion.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

A great barn conversion with lovely finishing touches. Beautiful views and superb location. Good base from which to visit Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne and see Haddon Hall, Kederston Hall (N.T.), and Sudbury Hall and The Children's Musuem (N.T.), as well as The Potteries Shopping Centre at Hanley (Stoke). Trentham Gardens was most enjoyable. Eating out can be recommended at The Lazy Trout, The Three Horse Shoes, and The Engine Room (market place, Leek) & Primo Piano - pizzeria (just off the market Place, Leek). A holiday to recommend to your friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
