Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The room was a bit more spacious than I had envisioned (good), the bed was very comfortable at night and the new couch was comfortable during the day, WiFi enabled us to stream Netflix. I love ocean water, and was thrilled that the place is so close to the water that I could hear the waves as we looked down from the balcony. We visited the popular part of FLL down by Las Olas, and were so pleased that we were staying out of that hustle/bustle. We found nice restaurants about a mile north (33rd and Dine is a great French restaurant), and the bus worked fine for getting back (we walked to there because of the spotty bus schedule). The in-house restaurant was just fine for breakfast/lunch, but we went other places for dinner. We will definitely come back to stay at this place.

We stayed here for 4 days and nights on our Florida vacation and were extremely happy with the hotel, the room, it's location right on the beach and last but not least, the exceptional way we were pampered by the hotel staff. The fact that we were located right on the ocean and could literally just put on our bathing suits and walk out the door to the beach was quick and made our stay very relaxing. The staff provided us with lounge chairs, towels, an umbrella if we liked, would take a food or drink order from us and we never even had to leave the beach. Very courteous staff! Once we decided we better get off the beach before we got too much sun....we just headed up the ramp and floated around the lazy river for another hour of relaxation. We would definetely recommend this to others.

My husband, two children (ages 2 and 5) and I enjoyed a wonderful beach vacation this January. We were at the Pelican for a family trip with the owners of this unit. My children loved the lazy river (it was so warm! the perfect place to relax and swim on a windy day) and, of course, the beach. The pool and beach attendants were so friendly and accomodating. As a mom with two small kids, we were always searching for the shade in which to construct the perfect sand castle. They knew the perfect spot for any time of day! My five year old participated in the Funky Fish Day Camp for one day (the last one of our trip), and wished that she could have gone for several. The instructors were very friendly and focused on making sure everyone had a great time. They learned how to snorkel (the kids who were ready-- it was very relaxed, and if a child was not 'feeling it', they were given some alternative activity), tie-dyed t-shirts, did an arts & crafts activity and had some beach time. It was SO nice to be able to have this located right at the Pelican! There were many families who brought their kids from other resorts to participate in the program. The other aspect of the Pelican that we really enjoyed was the veranda. what a lovely place to play a game, have some ice cream or read a little Winnie the Pooh. Our kids go to bed fairly early, so on a few occasions my husband and I ordered room service for a 'real dinner'. I do have to say that of all the room service we've ordered (including cruising), the Pelican actually gives you the same food that you get when you order in their restaurant. It was never disappointing! *As a side-note: Both of our children are on a gluten-free diet, and while the kitchen wasn't exactly gluten-friendly, the staff and cooks did a great job working with us. They used the GF bread and rice pasta that we brought to ensure that our kiddos had all the grilled cheese and noodles they could eat (although they charged full-price for them. We expected that, but when you see a receipt for a meal that you basically already bought, it's always a bit disheartening). We found that Ft. Lauderdale in general isn't really labeled 'gluten-friendly', but there is always a fresh grilled fish and veggies on the menu. We utilized the mini-fridge to stock up on GF items from Whole Foods (as well as breakfast items- Fresh-sqeezed FL orange juice and oatmeal packets on our room's patio were a perfect way to start our day).

I was at the Pelican this past week for a family vacation with the owners of this unit, and it was one of the most pleasant stays I've had, ever. I was super impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff when we arrived. They were extremely fast and courteous. The atmosphere of the lobby area is luxurious and inviting. There is a corner area that has many books you can borrow for reading, as well as some games you can play in the lobby. The room was very clean and had a great view!! Also, I was really impressed with how comfortable the beds/pillows were. I didn't actually stay in the owner's unit this time, but visited it nearly every day. The owners have been updating the unit this week to make it even more cozy. In the living room suite of the room, the owners replaced a stiff (and rather ugly) loveseat sofabed with a gorgeous (and VERY comfy!) leather couch that has reclining seats on either end. They are also planning on recarpeting the unit very soon, and have been busy updating some of the accents in the room (lampshades, artwork). I never actually made it into the pool or Lazy River (the weather ended up cooling off quite a bit the days I had planned to swim), but it looked so welcoming. Just sitting beside the pool or on the beach was super relaxing, and the hotel staff were always there to bring a towel, set up a chair, or bring a drink. I didn't happen to eat at either of the two restaurants located in the hotel, but I did visit the gift shop/ice cream parlor for a couple treats. The pricing of the items in the shop was a little over the top (over $5 for one shot of espresso), but the service was pleasant and the ice cream was delicious. If you like Thai food, my hubby and I would recommend Thai to Go located just down the street. There's also a great, inexpensive sushi place at Broward and Federal Highway called Sushi One. Both places are best for take out, and then you can take your food and eat it in your cozy room or on the beach! :-) I would totally recommend the Pelican (and especially the this unit!) to anyone looking for a relaxing, tropical vacation. My stay there exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. :-)

Recently my wife and I were invited to stay at the Pelican Grand for a family vacation by the owners of one of the units. I was so impressed with the Pelican from the moment we arrived to the day that we left. In my opinion I think the Pelican in the most beautiful resort in comparison to the other hotels in that area. I loved how it is right on the ocean, so you don't have to drive to get to the beach. Before we arrived I was concerned that the beach might be in bad condition due to the recent hurricane. However, the beach looked great! Our family had no problem laying out some beach chairs and soaking up the sun. I was also very happy with the staff who were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend the Pelican Grand to anyone who would like a comfortable, luxurious stay near the beach! My wife and I had a wonderful time.

I spent a week in beautiful Fort Lauderdale with my family at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. One of my family members owns unit #512 and suggested the resort as the site of our get together. It was fantastic! The resort is situated directly above a lovely stretch of beach that receives great sunlight in the morning and early evening. My girlfriend and I enjoyed peaceful walks along the groomed beaches almost every day. When we had enough of a sand and turf, we would head up to the pool and lazy river to catch some shade (and to wash some of the sand off!) The weather was fantastic during the middle of January- we had one dreary morning that cleared up by the afternoon. Even that had a silver lining- the rain seemed to wash up extra shells. The next morning we found some great conch shells and sea-washed beach glass! While we didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant, we did have dinner at the bar to catch part of a NFL playoff game. The atmosphere was relaxed, but by no means boring, and the bartender (an English gentleman named Paul) provided great service. Our meal was great. We also got cappuccinos and ice cream at the ice cream emporium, which was a fun treat. Locally, there are several restaurants in very close proximity to the hotel that we really enjoyed. The Sunbar grille is located next door to the north, and had a great appetizer and drink specials during happy hour from 5-7. Our service there was fantastic, and the waiters were especially friendly and helpful. About a mile north there is a Greek restaurant named Greek Islands Taverna that has phenomenal food- I could live off of their gyros and baklava. Finally, across the street from the Greek place there is a small bar named the 'Dive Bar' with a great collection of both friendly locals, cheap drink specials, and diving/maritime knick-knacks. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough! My vacation deserved 6 (or more!) stars! Cheers, and I hope you enjoy Fort Lauderdale!

Steve and I (owners of unit #512 at the Pelican Grand) purchased our unit 18 months ago. Last January we did our first family vacation at the resort. We were lucky to have 2 of our 5 kids (and our 2 grandkids) join us and had a wonderful time! We just finished our second family vacation, with 4 of our 5 kids, 2 grandkids (and another on the way....). The week couldn't have been more perfect. Each of the families had their own rooms, but we spend a lot of time together on the beach, pool and lazy river. The service at the Pelican continues to be amazing. We had meals in both restaurants and ice cream/milkshakes in the coffee shop. We also had pizza delivered one night and enjoyed it outside on the veranda. Again, what a great week! I've asked the kids to post reviews to give their feedback on their vacations. Hopefully, you will see a few of them on here soon. Finally, wanted to give an update that we have done some improvements to our unit and plan to do even more. Although everything today is lovely and in good shape, our goal is to make sure future renters have the ultimate vacation experience.

My husband, our two teenagers and myself had a wonderful stay. We were there for a few days of r and r before leaving for our first Caribbean cruise. The suite was perfect for our needs. The beds were comfortable and the pillows and linen were also exceeded our expectations. The sitting room that included the second tv worked out very well for us and we appreciated the fridge and microwave. The balcony faces the ocean and to hear the ocean surf made the craziness of our world fade away. There isn't really too much that is close but we used cabs and buses and saved money due to the high cost of renting a car at Christmas time. There is a great Italian bakery at Oakland Blvd and the shopping centre isn't too far away. I have to say the beach is wonderful, it is groomed every morning and the service by the pool and the beach was terrific. My boys were even able to say they say a few movie stars! If we were in Fort Lauderdale, we would stay there again. Thanks Sue.

We Loved Staying at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Beautiful Unit. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Fort Lauderdale and staying in this lovely unit in a gorgeous resort. Sue made the entire transaction very easy and also provided additional helpful information. Great communication. The unit itself as just as described with a fabulous oceanfront view. The staff at the resort was very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. We had a great time and I highly recommend renting this unit, you'll be happy you did. I actually stayed in a different unit at the beginning of the week, also a 2 queen bed oceanfront. The difference with renting this unit was the great communication and helpful information provided by Sue, which I appreciated. Thank You.

This was my second opportunity to stay here. Although Ft Lauderdale beaches took a beating from the recent storm, you can still walk along and enjoy the beach front at low tide. And the room is overlooking the ocean so the sights and sounds of the ocean are still beautiful as ever. Very relaxing to be sit out there and enjoy. Love this place.

This condo at Pelican Grand was exceptional. The most attractive part for us was the balcony, right on the water!!! Listening to the waves, watching the boats, the sunrise, etc. We loved it. The condo is very comfortable and spacious. The staff at the resort were all very welcoming and helpful. We can't wait to come back and will stay in this condo, no doubt. Sue was great to work with, very accommodating. We also loved the location(besides being on the water) for walking. There are lots of places within walking distance, shopping, restaurants, people watching and much more. Can't wait to return, thanks for sharing your fabulous place.

We absolutely loved suite 512 at the Pelican. We arrived without a car and managed just fine. The ocean was heavenly, the weather delightful and the surroundings explorable and lovely. We walked South to The Galleria Mall about 1/2 hr, another day further south past Sunrise Blvd to the strip where the bars and restaurants are and another day north through nice residential areas to an Italian bakery for lunch. The Pelican itself is clean, we'll maintained, and exactly as depicted in the photos. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the bar for dinner and in the restaurant had a fabulous dinner overlooking the ocean watching an electrical storm. When we have an opportunity to return to Fort Lauderdale we will definitely want to stay at #512 in the Pelican Grand Resort. Thanks Sue for all your suggestions and making the transactions and communications so pleasant and worry free.

I spent three days at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort and had a wonderful time. The resort is located right on the beach and the complimentary beach chairs and towels only made catching a tan that much more enjoyable. The unit was very clean and extremely comfortable. The balcony, which overlooks the ocean, is an excellent feature to the unit. Spending the mornings and evenings watching the waves was a great way to begin and end the night. The staff was more than accommodating and friendly. Booking the room was extremely easy and contacting the owners of the unit was hassle free and they were more than happy to answer all questions or address any concerns. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks for making my trip very enjoyable.

My husband and two kids ( 18 and 12) spent 9 fantastic days at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. It was everything that we were hoping and more! The resort itself is so magnificent- beautiful and comfortable lobby, gorgeous veranda with couches and rocking chairs to soak in the breathtaking view, and very pretty spacious suites. The staff were all courteous and friendly. Anything we needed they were ready to help. The pool area was really nice. We always found chairs available and if it was a little busier that day, the staff was quickly there to make sure they would find a place for us. We of course, loved the lazt river. Its as much fun for us adults as it is for the kids! Most of all I must say, that dealing with Sue in booking this resort for our holiday was a pleasure. Not only did she answer all my questions ( and I had many), she responded to all my e-mails immediately and offered many tips to help make our stay a wonderful one. I felt so comfortable booking this resort through Sue and completely trusted in her. We were very impressed with every aspectof our holiday experience, and we truly look forward to returning one day soon.

Syl

My husband and I have visited the Pelican Grand several times and Sue's unit was by far the best room and view! It is located on the 5th floor right in the center of the building with a balcony directly on the ocean. We had a wonderful time and there was plenty of room when our daughter came and stayed a few nights. With the suite set up, you have two televisions and can have privacy in the living room area if people want to sleep in the other room. The staff at the Pelican Grand were also very friendly and we were able to enjoy all the amenities at the hotel with the exception of daily maid service. I am ready to book again for next year. Sue is wonderful to work with - very quick responses to all of our questions. I cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed our visit!

This was a wonderful stay. The room overlooking the ocean couldn't have been better. Being able to sit out on the patio and listen to the waves break along the shore. Perfect. The room was very quiet, and the beds were very very comfortable. The atmosphere and professionalism from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant was excellent. The food and drinks were very good and very reasonably priced. I ate there every day. No need for me to go anywhere else. I was settled. Having breakfast on their patio with the ocean right there in front of me, perfect. Having access to the ocean withouth having to cross the street made things very convenient. This was a great place to stay and I enjoyed myself immensely. I'd highly recommend it and yes I would return.

Love the location of the resort.....love the staff at this resort...DO NOT LOVE the amount of seaweed and trash that washes up each day on the shore of this resort! City of Ft Lauderdale did not clean shoreline of resort for 4 days (Sat-Sun-Mon-Tues). Seaweed mixed with bottles/trash/sanitary napkins/small pieces of dead fish sat on the shore front of resort. I personally called the City Of Ft Lauderdale and complained to Mayors Office on Monday and Tuesday...they came on Weds morning and cleaned up the mess. Not a good situation. Room was nice..but bathroom fan needs replacing (loud). Overall it was a nice stay but would not stay on this beach again unless the seaweed problem is addressed.

Owner response: Thank you for your review. We appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, while you were visiting it was also turtle nesting season in Fort Lauderdale. As a result, all resorts/hotels are federally prohibited from touching the beach (with a rake or anything else). It is all up to the city to perform turtle inspections and then, and only then, can the city come and clean the beach. The General Manager from the Pelican was up on the 11th floor today and agrees with your feedback. As far as he could see, north and south, the beach does not look great (not just at the Pelican Grand - all of the Fort Lauderdale beaches). In addition, this is the time of the year that seaweed is the worst and Fort Lauderdale has had winds blowing out of the east which make the situation even worse. Like you, the General Manager also has had recent conversations with the mayor's office, as well as Florida Fish and Wildlife. That being said, I'm glad you still enjoyed your vacation and could still give us a four star rating.

This was a beautiful place to stay with incredible all around service. The listing descriptin was right on and very clean upon arrival without any issues. I did have a need to contact the owner prior to my arrival, and she was always kind and never seemed bothered to help me. I would highly recomend this location to others without hesitation. Thank you for helping my family have an awesome vacation.

My family stayed at this property for 4 nights and could not have been more pleased. The view from the room is outstanding. The room was clean and had all of the amenities we needed. The property itself was very nice and my 4 year old could not get enough of the beach or the lazy river. We would definitely stay here again. It was a pleasure to deal with Sue.

We had an awesome time in Ft. Lauderdale. This condo is lovely, it has a fifth floor balcony facing the ocean, and everything about the resort is clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Sitting in rocking chairs on the veranda with a tropical fruity drink during happy hour was heavenly! The resort is right on the beach therefore is a very convenient walk for families with children. The water in the ocean was calm and we spent hours in it! The staff at the resort are very helpful and efficient. Sue was very easy to book with and was kind enough to communicate a small change in the resort's procedures prior to our departure. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable beach vacation. This is the most wonderful place you can stay if you are traveling to Ft. Lauderdale.

Driving past so many other 4 and 5-star hotels situated across the street from the beach, we felt good that we were staying in this beautiful resort that was right on the beach. Particularly since we had our little grandkids with us, who by the way never wanted to leave the beach sand and the shallow waters. What a nice surprise to receive a warm friendly service from everyone- prevalent from the valet to the front desk to the beach attendants. It was a refreshing change from the poor attitude of the staff in the hotel where we stayed the night before. Since we arrived early, the front desk suggested that we register so that we can avail of the facility like the pool and the beach areas until they call us when the room is ready. The suite was pretty and clean with comfortable beds. We enjoyed the balcony with superb ocean views and sounds of the waves. We felt like we were still in our cruise ship balcony! Thank you Sue for giving our family a wonderful ending to our post cruise vacation! We'll definitely recommend the Pelican Grand and certainly your 5th floor unit. You're a terrific owner, happy to have done business with you!

Thank You.

So we were on 3rd floor last year and on this unit on 5th floor this year. It is right at the center of the hotel facing the ocean. we knew what to expect because we have been here before for a week. Everything was great just like our regular hotel room last year. The only thing that was not the same was the comforter set on the queen bed. It was a lot thinner but that worked fine for Florida weather too. I will probably come back again next year. The owners are great at responding to your requests very promptly. Call Sue if you have questions, she will be more than happy to answer all of them.

This resort is amazing. Beautiful ambiance. Incredible service. Fantastic amenities. The room and owner rental experience was superb. Swimming pool and lazy river overlook the perfect beach. Attendants at every location to assist in your every need from helping with lounge chairs, pool/beach towels, pool toys, extra sunscreen, drink service, etc. You name it, they would make it happen. Thank you to the owners for sharing your amazing place with us.

My daughter and I just stayed at this property and had a fantastic time! The unit was very nice - even better than we expected, very clean and comfortable. The view off the balcony is amazing. We loved laying on the beach on the comfortable lounge chairs with beach umbrella, sipping a tropical drink delivered to us by a friendly waiter. The pool and lazy river are great as well - so relaxing! I can't say enough good about the hotel staff. Everyone was friendly, professional and eager to serve you in any way they can. The owner of this unit was great to work with. She quickly responded to our inquiries and was very helpful! I would recommend this property to anyone and can't wait to return! I would not want to stay anywhere else.

We just spent 2 weeks staying in this unit to visit family in Ft. Lauderdale as we live abroad in England. The place was perfect. Having visited a lot of times, i really enjoyed this location which is tucked away from the loud and lively end of the city. It is also great in that it is right on the beach and you don't have the road in between so you look straight out onto the ocean. There were dolphins and manatees outside on our first morning on the balcony. The room is perfect if you are travelling with children as the door that closes between the bedroom and tv room gives you the opportuntity to relax, read and watch tv while the kids are sleeping in the other room. Our children loved the lazy river and we all spent time chilling out there. The valets and staff were some of the most friendly and laid back I have ever met. We loved coming back after dinner each night and playing cards at the card table and sitting on the rocking chairs on the beautiful porch along the ocean. Would highly recommend if you don't mind having to get in the car to eat. The food at the hotel was OK and there is room service so you can enjoy the view from the balcony. We had a nice lunch there and the surf and turf special in the restaurant was good value but some of the other food was not great compared with some of the great restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale. We had some nice meals on Las Olas which isn't far away by car and has a great ambiance. You do really need to eat out for the most part as the room is not geared up for cooking other than basics in the microwave. Overall it was a great stay in a lovely place and we hope to return next year!

We expected the Pelican Grand Resort to be a really good place for us to stay at, but we did not expect to enjoy it so much that we decided that it will be the only place for us to stay at when we are in Fort Lauderdale! It all started with communicating with the owner of this unit, Sue, who is so personable and accomodating. And continues to all the personnel at the resort who are very friendly; from the valets, to the front desk to the pool and restaurant employees. The unit #512 is comfy and roomy with 2 queen beds and the sitting area with a nice chair and couch. The extra room makes it so much more enjoyable to be able to relax in a mini apartment compared to"just a hotel room". The terrace has an awesome view of the ocean and you can look north towards Palm Beach or south towards Miami. The unit was clean and well stocked with towels and even though we did not choose to have extra maid service during our 4 night stay there was plenty of soap, shampoo, etc. While there are no walkable eateries on A1A from the Pelican, it is a quick car ride to Commercial Blvd. or to Sunrise Blvd. to get some food or take in some nighlife. You are literally no more than a 3 -4 minute ride to great restaurants. I without hesitation would recommend a stay at this unit and resort to my closest friends and family. Thank you Sue for helping make our vacation so enjoyable.
