Charming/Spacious Beach House, New Silver Beach, 4 BR , Great 2-Family
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
My beach house in North Falmouth is comfortably large with four bedrooms and is located steps away (seven houses down) from private warm water New Silver Beach. The house features an open, airy floor plan with a beautifully designed Arts and Crafts style dining room and living room with bead-board paneling. The large kitchen has been recently upgraded; is well appointed, and has an ''eat-in'' island counter. All your cooking needs are satisfied. The large dining room can easily fit 12 people with plenty of room to spare. There is a separate dining nook that seats 4/6 comfortably and offers an ocean view of Cleveland Ledge Lighthouse. The room doubles as a gaming room. Overall, the house flows well from front to back. Large sliders open from the kitchen and dining nook to a very large and spacious deck. A 14 X 10 foot topped pergola was installed on the deck last year and allows for a comfortably cool shady area for everyone to congregate under. Since the installation of the pergola I have found that the deck is the place to be for all my guests. It offers a great place to party or just hang out. Being next to the kitchen means that meals can be easily prepared and eaten outdoors. A large commercial grill is on the deck, too.
All bedrooms are located upstairs and all have been recently renovated. The two largest feature a king-size bed and a queen four-post bed and both have air conditioning. The house is generously appointed with lots of windows to catch those afternoon summer breezes coming off the ocean. And the house has central heating for those infrequent, chilly mornings. Both south-facing bedrooms have Casablanca ceiling fans.
I try to think of everything you and your family would need to make your stay a convenience and not a bother. If you are from out-of-state and flying in, we have most everything you will need to make your beach day possible: coolers, beach chairs, beach toys and beach towels are included.
The back yard is lush and semi-private (great for kids) and there is a large outdoor shower. The greatest attribute of the beach house is that it functions very well for a shared two-family stay. The area of New Silver is family-oriented. It is not unusual for three or four generations of families to have continually met here at New Silver. People who were here as children 60 years ago are now playing with their grandchildren at the beach. People want to congregate here year after year and build on the memories that this beach environment can offer.
The house is part of the private New Silver Beach Improvement Association (NSBIA). The NSBIA, during their summer season, takes great pride in maintaining the nostalgic feel of an original Cape Cod beach community; maintaining a beautiful beach with life guards, tennis court, a snack bar and children's playground. The Association offers weekly activities, and as our guests, you and your family will be able to take part in all the activities the NSBIA has to offer (ask for details and dates). This can greatly enhance your family's stay at my house.
Past NSBIA activities have included: swimming lessons, kid's cookout w/ bingo, teen dodge ball, nightly movies on the tennis court, grill night, fishing tournament, horseshoe tournament, volleyball, and the Horribles Parade on the 4th of July weekend. And the Tea Room is a focal point for the older kids at night. Association activities calendar for 2013 is not available at this time, but we will gladly e-mail you a copy of the 2012 calendar if you want to get some idea of what is usually available. Activities and associated amenities usually kick off on the last Saturday in June and end on the second or third week in August.
North Falmouth's clean, sandy beaches are the warmest on Cape Cod. Private New Silver beach is bordered by rock jetties and watched over by two lifeguards (in-season and during posted hours). For younger kids, the water level deepens very gradually and for the older kids, there is a diving raft located just off the beach.
Falmouth, which comprises eight distinctive villages, is one of the Cape’s most popular summer destinations. The town occupies the lower corner of the Cape’s shoulder, and because of the many inlets and bays, it is surrounded on nearly three sides by water. Boating and sailing is available from 11 protective harbors. Falmouth Harbor offers protected docking and moorings to boats of all sizes and has easy access to the open ocean. Fishing charter boats and ferries for Martha’s Vineyard also depart from this harbor. Canoeing and kayaking through marshes, rivers, and ponds are popular water sports. New Silver Beach is one of the Cape’s warmest beaches. This beach is especially good for small children.
One of the diamonds of the Cape is the Shining Sea Bike Path. This nicely paved bike way runs along the ocean and through cranberry bogs, marshes and piney forests from North Falmouth to the charming New England village of Woods Hole, which is home to the world renown Marine Biological Laboratory and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Bike rentals are easily available.
Nearby Falmouth is loaded with quaint shops and wonderful restaurants. There are two cinemas in the area. Martha's Vineyard is easy to get to with two ferries to serve you. Woods Hole has a nice aquarium and Sandwich's Heritage Plantation and Glass Museum are thirty minutes away. Whale watching, antiquing, going the the National Seashore and visiting bustling Provincetown are a few of the many things you can do on the Cape.
Falmouth’s historic Village Green is surrounded by stately captains’ homes. Evening concerts are held in the summer at the Harbor Marine Park bandshell.
The Falmouth Road Race in August is world famous. The route for the 7.1-mile race runs along the coast from Woods Hole to Falmouth.
It is my hope that the beach house allows you to quickly shed your stress and relax during your vacation. Whether sun bathing on the south-facing deck, surfing the net, watching TV on either of two entertainment systems or enjoying your favorite novel; the house is large enough to easily accommodate 10 people doing their own thing comfortably. At night, with the windows open and the usual breeze, the sound of the waves makes for a good night's sleep.
We want your vacation to be one of peaceful relaxation and the house offers that. The fact that the house is close to a great beach and a great area of Cape Cod is an added plus.

Dear Dan, Another great year! Love the deck this year; really happy we came when all the activities were happening! Toddlers loved swimming lessons and endless day swimming and searching for shells! Great house for large family gathering (Smiley Face). Please put a latch on downstairs bathroom. See you next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Dan, Our family had a lovely time in your home. We especially loved simply sitting on the back deck under the shade. We took full advantage of the kayaks. We loved swimming to Old Silver Beach and swimming to the dock. We enjoyed the firewaorks on the 4th, but most of all, we enjoyed the rest and relaxation. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? I'm not a person for the bright lights and fancy night life so I found your property perfect for our vacation. It's locaition is excellent, just a step from the quiet beach, and the whole place just spoke of comfortable relaxation. We found everything we needed to cook, just as you said we would.. The house was charming and clean with a unique decorator's touch. We slept like logs after the walk up the beach and the swim. I hope we can come back again next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your positive review!

I loved staying at this relaxing cute beach cottage. It has everything that you need to have a cozy little stay that just embodies "peace". The house has a warm and welcoming feel to it. I enjoyed talking long walks in the quiet neighborhood in late september. This home brings me back to the question of why to go on vacation. The answer to that is to relax, and relax we did the entire stay. Thank you for an unforgettable lovely little trip!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Laura, thanks so much for your sweet words! Dan

Wendy and Dan, We had a great two weeks at 134 Silver Beach Ave. With two little ones (3 1/2 and 1 1/2), we were a bit nervous about them "getting into things" and breaking something. They had a great time; slept a lot and fell in love with New Silver! We all made so many wonderful memories. Awesome swimming, hunting for crabs and jingle shells, and the 3 1/2 even jumped off the float on the last day, just like a teenager. The weather was perfect 13 out of 14 days. Tons of sun, cooling breezes and great sleeping weather at night. Our two weeks were the highlite of a great summer of 2011. The house and your hospitallity played a large role in that..... It seems like we are getting away just in the nick of time as Hurricane Irene is going to be here tomorrow. We will remember these two weeks fondly, and we hope to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Dear Wendy and Dan, We want to thank you for opening up your adorable house! We all had a great time! The weather was great and the kids all had a blast fishing, crabbing, kayaking and splashing down at the water! The house was big enough for our"big family" and we still had plenty of room. It was nice having a table we could all fit at! The kitchen had everything we needed and you though of everything! (even for the little ones) Thanks again,Did you find this review helpful? Dear Wendy and Dan, We wanted for nothing during our stay in your wonderful home. You though of everything, especially where our little ones were concerned. We did a lot of cooking; made easy in your well-stocked kitchen. Thank you for your hospitality. Until next summer.......Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

About: My name is Dan McMillan and I have lived on the Cape since 1979. Originally I am from Texas but I have found a new second home here and do not plan to leave. The Cape offers a great quality of life that is hard to beat.
Why North Falmouth:
The architecture of the house and its proximity to the beach set it apart. And the first feeling that comes to people once they have set foot inside is the calming atmosphere it offers. The time-darkened bead board paneling, the bright open kitchen, the cheery well-ventilated bedrooms and the large deck with the covered pergola offer what most other houses located near the beach do not have. There is enough room in the house to make it a two-family vacation opportunity.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The beach is 7 houses away! The house membership to the New Silver Beach Association offers you inclusion to everything they have to offer and also includes life guards during posted times. The ocean water at New Silver Beach is the warmest on Cape Cod. The entertainment center includes a 42 inch Samsung LCD TV with surround, a HD DVR recorder, dvd movie collection and cd player. There is a Mac with an Itunes music library installed. The covered pergola on the deck offers sun shade on the sunniest of days and allows use of the deck during light rainy periods. The outdoor shower rocks.
