New charming gite, labelled 'Ecogite' (healthy materials, renewable energies), ranked 4 stars in the furnished category 'meublé de tourisme' and 4 stars by 'Gites de France'. It is located 7 km away from the centre of Chambery, historic capital of the Dukes of Savoy, city of art and history.
The gite is in the Parc Naturel Regional de Chartreuse in Savoy (73).
Very peaceful hamlet in the middle of nature, on a 20 hectare family property. Great unspoilt setting with meadows, forests and mountains.
Ideally located between lakes and mountains, for a sporting stay, nature or retreat with family or for businessmen.
Family resort of Le Granier 11 km away and of Le Desert d'Entremont 19 km away.
30 min away from the Nordic Plateau of Le Revard (Parc Naturel Regional des Bauges), Lac du Bourget and Lac d'Aiguebelette.
Also close to the Challes-les-Eaux and Aix-les-Bains spas.
Very comfortable gite with a living area of 170 sq.m that can accommodate 10 people.
It enjoys extraordinary views over the sea and the mountains.
With a worm mountain style, it fits perfectly into this privileged natural site.
Fully equipped:
2 fitted kitchens with dishwasher, freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, Hi-Fi system, flat screen television, DVD player, Internet connection, etc.
5 bedrooms (2 90x200 cm beds that can be joined in 4 bedrooms, 1 bedroom with a 160x200 bed) with very comfortable mattresses in latex.
3 bathrooms (walk-in showers).
The gite can be divided into 2 parts:
Gite for 6 people (100 sq.m with 3 bedrooms)
Gite for 4 people (70 sq.m with 2 bedrooms)
This is a bio gite with positive energy.
The goal of the project is to prove that you can build a house while respecting the principles of sustainable development, with a high requirement in the search for the better solutions by using local materials, local workforce. The social links being preserved, they enable to redynamise a local economy.
Therefore, the project is based on the following points:
1/ Use of healthy products such as hemp wool, wood wool, cork, clay coating...
2/ A particular effort is made to use the materials which are the closest to the building construction, as well as the local workforce:
- The 60 spruces necessary for the construction of the gite with the design post and beam coming from a family forest located less than 1 km away,
- the framing is in Maurienne larch,
- the hemp bricks come from La Mure,
- the 110 sq.m of photovoltaic sensors were bought at Photowatt in Bourgoin-Jallieu; they produce 14000 kWh per year.
3/ The bioclimatic aspect needed particular attention:
The main front as well as the roofing are south oriented and at 15º to the West. This orientation was chosen by taking the existing obstructions into account (mountain to the South East).
The roofing overhang was calculated to bring maximum comfort in summer without hiding the solar intake in winter.
4/ The insulation was carefully done, the walls are isolated with 20 cm of wood wool between the posts, covered by 15 cm of hemp bricks outside, coated with lime or covered by a local larch framing.
The roofing, made of terracotta tiles, is isolated with 32 cm of wood wool and hemp wool. 20 cm of cork were used to isolate the floor.
The windows and bay windows are double or triple glazed with an Argon glazing with low emissivity.
5/ Creation of a building with a simple design that would be reproducible and allow self-construction.
6/Design of a zero-point energy house or even a positive energy house.
7/ The water management was particularly well done thanks to the water-saver placed on the taps, the dual-flush system and water-saver shower heads. Moreover, the chalet is equipped with a rainwater harvesting system integrated in a circuit supplying the toilets.
Therefore, the global water economy rises to 50%.
8/ The house is equipped with a heating and an hydraulic heating floor supplied by a heat pump that works to CO² with a COP of 3.3 completed by 12 sq.m of solar sensors (not installed yet, in June 2012) also providing the bathroom's hot water.
The washing machine and tumble dryer are equipped with a double entry of hot water/cold water.
The house is equipped with energy-saving bulbs to consume less energy.
9/ Create a wastewater treatment through a reed bed, which will collect the waste water of 3 houses.
10/ Implementation of the waste management, with waste sorting.
11/ The bio gite, in addition to the fact that it is rented to environment-friendly people, will also be used as an educational tool.
Indeed, it will be the main example for the general contractor when he intervenes for public institutions (holiday makers, schools, architects, organisations, individuals, companies, etc.) about bio construction, bioclimatic design...

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Beautiful and brand new gite. We spent a great week here in this beautiful art of the world. Sunshine guaranteed due to its south exposure. This ecogite is well designed and well equipped. Only 5 min from Chambery. I would recommend it if you like good standard and comfort.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
