  When we decided to go to New York last year we wanted to experience all the sites, sounds, and smells of the city, but stay somewhere quiet and relaxing. So we opted to stay out of the centre. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location than this!! Views of the Manhatten Skyline day and night, excellent access to the subway(5-10mins walk) and you are in the centre of New York in 40mins. Hotels are great for the facilities, but self catering accomodation like this really lets you get up close and personal with the people of New York. Local stores are handy for snacks and drinks, and further down to Rockaway, there are restaurants and bars. Or you can eat in town before returning in the evening, which we did most nights.There is quite a choice. The house was immaculate, the hospitality and help first class, and the opportunity to start your New York adventure that should not be overlooked. Thank you for a wonderful time, i hope we have the opportunity to return.

  We loved staying here. We had great weather when we were here and it was so ideal to have the beach so close. We loved being able to subway into Manhattan one day and beach the next. To get to Manhattan was about 45 minutes on the subway, which was a bit long perhaps, but for us out-of-towners this was also very much part of our NYC experience. Michael was a great host and very considerate of issues we were having with cross-border banking. We loved the view of the Manhattan skyline and we loved being right on the water with the ocean life right at our doorstep. This was a great vacation rental without doubt.

  Waking up every morning to the view of the Manhattan skyline across the channel was a real treat. The home was well furnished and the kitchen, breakfast, living room combination on the first floor was great. Also, there were grocery stores and restaurants within a close drive....all in all a fantastic place to spend quality time with the family at a very reasonable price. Thanks, Michael, for also being so attentive to our requests!

  We booked both of Michael's houses in Shadcreek road to accommodate our friends and family for our wedding in New York. It suited us to a tee. The location out of the city was great to return to and relax after a long day. The view amazed us every morning we woke. The local store and takeaway pizza is two minute walk away meaning we could get everything we need for breakfast. We didn't want to leave. We'll be back! Michael was a great help. Thanks.

  We stayed at Michaels other property on the other side of the island which is a bit bigger and has fantastic views over the lagoon towards Manhattan ( visible on a clear day with great sunsets) Broad Channel is a fascinating place, with an excellent nature reserve in walking distance; we found it very difficult to think it was so close to Manhattan. Transport up town is very cheap and quite frequent. The station is about 15 minutes from the house. We used public transport to get into town on most days but hired a car in the second week to explore further afield in nearby long island. There are a few local shops at the end of the street selling most things needed for everyday together with a restaurant and a bar.The house is well equipped and very comfortable although a PC and internet connection would be very appreciated. Michael made us feel very much at home and we'd like to come back sometime

  We had an amazing time. Could not have picked a better place. It was cozy, and felt like home, yet was close to the hustle and bustle of NYC. If I went to NY again, I would only go there. The owner is a gentleman and was very helpful in every possible way he could. I would reccomend this place to anyone. We had a successful wedding because of the house. :) You will definetely see us again in the near future.

  We came to New York for my dad's 70 year old birthday, and finding this place on the subway line, and so close to the beach and the nature reserves was wonderful. Dining out while looking at Manhattan skyline and sleeping with the smell of the sea and the noise of the birds was really fantastic... A great complement to the city tour.

  After a few days visitin Manhattan with our parents, it was great to be able to relax in BroadChannel, and see the sunset on Manhattan, enjoy the beach and the bird sanctuary... a great way to finsih our holidays

  Wir können das Ferienhaus sehr empfehlen. Es liegt direkt am Wasser mit einem tollen Blick bis nach Manhatten. Abends kann man auf der Terrasse sitzen und die erleuchtete Skyline bewundern. Shad Creek Road ist eine ruhige Seitenstraße ohne Verkehr. Trotzdem ist man in 5 Minuten zu Fuß an der Hauptstraße, wo es einen Lebensmittelladen und eine Pizzeria gibt. Zur U-Bahn-Station sind es ca. 10-15 Minuten zu Fuß und die U-Bahn ist in 45 Minuten in Manhatten. Eine Wochenkarte kostet 27 Dollar. Das Haus ist schön eingerichtet, hell, modern und gemütlich. Es war auch alles gepflegt und sauber. Wir hatten die linke Hälfte (also die Südseite) gemietet, wo man mehr Sonne im Haus hat. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen und konnten so auch bequem im großen Supermarkt (Waldenbaum) einkaufen, der ca. 10 Autominuten entfernt nördlich liegt. Baden kann man am Haus nicht, aber das kam für uns wegen der Reisezeit Oktober sowieso nicht in Frage. Die Strände sind auf Broad Channel Island ein paar Meilen südlich. Der Vermieter Michael ist nett, hat immer sofort auf unsere mail geantwortet und es war alles so, wie beschrieben. Tagsüber haben wir Manhatten erkundet und uns dann abends die Ruhe im Ferienhaus am Meer genossen - eine schöne Kombination.
