Come discover Winter Park and the beautiful Fraser Valley, a four season Colorado wonderland, and experience it in the comfort of our "home away from home." Our mountain house, which we call Lodge Pole Retreat, is located on 3.5 private, wooded acres bordered on two sides by undeveloped forest land and very close to the National Forest boundary. It is located at the end of a dead end lane that includes only three other properties.
The property is totally private; You cannot even see any other houses from our windows, deck or hot tub! The house has recently been remodeled and has all of the modern conveniences of home. You will especially enjoy the spacious Great Room with sitting area, dining area, large kitchen, and cozy reading nook -- all lit by an oversized center skylight. See for yourself in the pictures on this page.
The Fraser Valley is still Colorado's best kept secret: so much to offer all year round, without the crowds and traffic of the Vail Valley or Summit County, and less than two hours from Denver International Airport. In the Winter, enjoy world class downhill skiing or snowboarding at Winter Park/Mary Jane Resort (only five miles away) or cruiser skiing at the beginner and family-oriented Solvista Resort (less than 15 miles away).
Cross country skiing on extensive groomed trail networks is only ten minutes away at the 4000-acre Devil's Thumb Ranch and also at Snow Mountain Ranch. For the more adventurous, you can access back country trails for snowshoing and skiing right from our back door!
The National Forest boundary is less than a mile from our house. Trailblazers snowmobile outfitter is just up the road a bit, and for the kids, the Fraser Tubing Hill (with lifts) is only a five-minute drive, and the Winter Park Skating Rink is only ten minutes away. It will be nearly impossible to do it all!
When it is not ski season, the Fraser Valley is still the place to be, with hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, world class fishing in clear mountain streams, white-water rafting and kayaking, plus water skiing, fishing and boating on Granby and Shadow Mountain Reservoirs and Grand Lake.
Rocky Mountain National Park is only 40 minutes away and Grand County is home to four separate roadless wilderness areas for those who really like to get away from it all. All this, plus shopping and fine restaurants in Winter Park and Grand Lake, top-end spa facilities at Devil's Thumb Ranch, Saturday night rodeos, and four golf courses, including the 27-hole Pole Creek Golf Club, which was named "Best Mountain Course" by Top of the Rocky and the "#1 Place to Play in Colorado" by Golf Digest.
Come discover and enjoy all the Fraser Valley has to offer, just like we did!
We welcome dogs in our home, but we cannot allow cats due to severe allergies and asthma in our family. ABSOLUTELY NO CATS AND NO SMOKING allowed anywhere on the property. |
