Aloha and welcome to Simply Paradise, a peaceful forest retreat along rugged volcanic coastline, on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just 20 minutes south of Hilo International Airport. Located near the coast in the country in Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision. Excellent for the whole family or perfect for a romantic getaway.

This non-smoking beautifully furnished guest house stands alone for total privacy. It features 100% cotton linens and cotton bath and beach towels, bath, laundry and dish products. It is immaculate with fully equipped kitchen, full bath with tub & shower, one bedroom with a double bed that has a firm, quality pillow-top mattress, comfortable double futon couch and cozy twin day bed in living area and large lanai with hammock.

Guests will enjoy the sweet trade winds; being surrounded by orchids, ferns and native trees; listening to the sound of waves and venture a five minute walk to the ocean cliffs and view magnificent sun and moon rises out of the Pacific.

During your stay take a 30 minute scenic drive up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at 4000 ft., the summit of the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. You can learn about our unique shield volcanoes and see how our islands are being created at the Jaggar Museum and Visitor Center. View ancient and active lava flows depending on activity and weather conditions.

Tour the rim of the caldera at the summit and hike into a pit crater, then stroll through a 300 year old native rain forest and experience a lava tube. One could spend days exploring this awesome landscape. For the hungry hiker there are cafes, restaurants and a winery all at Volcano Village, a charming community just outside of the park.

Take another day to discover old Hawaii. Visit Kalapana village recently covered by lava flows in the 90's. On the way there you'll pass the historical Star Of The Sea painted church. Along the coast you'll step onto a new black sand beach that was created by the eruption which continues today! Down the coast you may be able to see a plume of steam rising where lava is flowing into the ocean! Before you leave pull in for a treat at the local drive-in. Have a delicious fresh fish burger and some mango ice cream!

Leisurely continue north along the coastline, there are many parks and breathtaking scenery. You can often see the green sea turtles along the shore. At Pohoiki Bay you might catch some of the best surfers on the island. Fishermen launch their boats from the ramp here. Next you'll come to Ahalanui State Park. This is a must! Stay awhile, take off your shoes and relax in the warm waters.

This pond is heated by volcanic thermal vents. It is an ancient place of healing created and used for generations by Hawaiians. Once refreshed head towards Pahoa and take time to walk through Lava Tree State Park with it's fascinating tree molds and tranquil paths. Last stop is historic Pahoa town, a colorful community where you can dine or take out fresh fish, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Mexican or Thai cuisine.

Include charming, eclectic Hilo Town in your itinerary. Second largest community in Hawaii. Explore Hilo's unique history on bay front at the Pacific Tsunami Museum. Down the street you will be among friendly people as you wander through the stands of the Hilo Farmers Market. Sample Hawaiian food, fresh, hot tamales and Filipino desserts! You can purchase fresh fish, tropical flowers, organic produce and exotic seasonal fruits to feast on. You will find yourself in lush botanical gardens, waterfalls and the largest Japanese Garden in the USA. Enjoy snorkeling at Richardson's, Hilo's own black sand beach. Spot dolphins, whales and swim with turtles. Then come home to your own private retreat where you can rest up for your next island adventure!

I invite you to come and enjoy paradise!

Great place to get away from it all!

My wife and I recently stayed for 8 days / 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The pictures are completely accurate and it is in a more rural setting that surrounded by trees and vegetation and the sound of wildlife. The sound of the little frogs at night is just incredible...you have to hear it to believe it. I slept in the "great room" next to a host of open windows so it was almost like sleeping outside. I loved it. The owner was very hospitable and gave us tips for seeing the sites, which was helpful. We'd definitely go back again!

Private and Peaceful

We had a great time at the house. The owner is very nice and laid back. I came here with my kids, and spent some time here not being tourists. We just sat and read and ate (lots of papayas) and watched TV. It is open, and clean and surrounded by bird chatter. I personally loved the rain in the evening. It's secluded but easy to access, and very convenient to shopping and Hilo. If you want simplicity and relaxation for the right price, this place comes recommended.

i rented this home during my recent trip to hilo. the place was excellent & i had an excellent time. the place is quiet - good to rest the soul & body. you can hear the birds & insects in their natural habitat. she was helpful in providing advice & information on where to visit & enjoy. definitely that location will be on my list when i go back to hilo (which is a yes-yes). can't wait to go back :) g

Great Value!

Guest: LR (Portland, OR)
Date of Stay: 09/24/10 Review Submitted: 09/29/10

We recently stayed at this rental guesthouse property for 3 days. It is located in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood within an easy 5-10 minute walk to the nearest ocean view. The guesthouse is surrounded by lots of mature trees and it was very soothing to wake up to the chirping of the birds every morning and to be able to eat freshly harvested ripe guavas from the garden for breakfast. The listing description and photos do accurately reflect the property appearance and amenities. The place although not fancy-looking as expected for that rental rate, was immaculately clean, well maintained and stocked with all sorts of things one could imagine needing even for an extended stay. The owner is very friendly and accomodating and she let borrow an extra pedestal fan upon request and do a very late checkout at no added cost to us when she learnt our flight out of Hilo wasn't until late in the evening since the guesthouse was available for the following day. It was an added bonus to be able to use the private washer and dryer downstairs to do the laundry. The only downside was the 6+ miles distance from the Hilo airport, major grocery stores, shopping malls and attractions although being able to stay in a tranquil, tropical wooded setting with access to all the listed amenities more than made up for that. Altogether, great value for the money and would definitely stay there again if and when we re-visit the Big Island.

Owner response:Actually the nearest grocery store, restaurant & gas station is less than 4 miles away. The Big Island is rural, that's why I inform everyone to shop in Hilo before they check-in. Late check-outs are available if there are no guests scheduled for that day or the following day.
