Aloha and welcome to Simply Paradise, a peaceful forest retreat along rugged volcanic coastline, on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just 20 minutes south of Hilo International Airport. Located near the coast in the country in Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision.
This non-smoking beautifully furnished guest house stands alone for total privacy. It features 100% cotton linens and cotton bath and beach towels, hypoallergenic bath, laundry and dish products. It is immaculate with fully equipped kitchen, full bath with tub & shower, one bedroom with a double bed that has a firm, quality pillow-top mattress, comfortable double futon couch and cozy twin day bed in living area and large lanai with hammock.
Guests will enjoy the sweet tradewinds; being surrounded by orchids, ferns and native trees; listening to the sound of waves and venture a five minute walk to the ocean cliffs and view magnificent sun and moon rises out of the Pacific.
During your stay take a 30 minute scenic drive up to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at 4000 ft., the summit of the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. You can learn about our unique shield volcanoes and see how our islands are being created at the Jaggar Museum and Visitor Center. View ancient and active lava flows depending on activity and weather conditions.
Tour the rim of the caldera at the summit and hike into a pit crater, then stroll through a 300 year old native rain forest and experience a lava tube. One could spend days exploring this awesome landscape. For the hungry hiker there are cafes, restaurants and a winery all at Volcano Village, a charming community just outside of the park.
Take another day to discover old Hawaii. Visit Kalapana village recently covered by lava flows in the 90's. On the way there you'll pass the historical Star Of The Sea painted church. Along the coast you'll step onto a new black sand beach that was created by the eruption which continues today! Down the coast you may be able to see a plume of steam rising where lava is flowing into the ocean! Before you leave pull in for a treat at the local drive-in. Have a delicious fresh fish burger and some mango ice cream!
Leisurely continue north along the coastline, there are many parks and breathtaking scenery. You can often see the green sea turtles along the shore. At Pohoiki Bay you might catch some of the best surfers on the island. Fishermen launch their boats from the ramp here. Next you'll come to Ahalanui State Park. This is a must! Stay awhile, take off your shoes and relax in the warm waters.
This pond is heated by volcanic thermal vents. It is an ancient place of healing created and used for generations by Hawaiians. Once refreshed head towards Pahoa and take time to walk through Lava Tree State Park with it's fascinating tree molds and tranquil paths. Last stop is historic Pahoa town, a colorful community where you can dine or take out fresh fish, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Mexican or Thai cuisine.
Include charming, eclectic Hilo Town in your itinerary. Second largest community in Hawaii. Explore Hilo's unique history on bay front at the Pacific Tsunami Museum. Down the street you will be among friendly people as you wander through the stands of the Hilo Farmers Market. Sample Hawaiian food, fresh, hot tamales and Filipino desserts! You can purchase fresh fish, tropical flowers, organic produce and exotic seasonal fruits to feast on. You will find yourself in lush botanical gardens, waterfalls and the largest Japanese Garden in the USA. Enjoy snorkeling at Richardson's, Hilo's own black sand beach. Spot dolphins, whales and swim with turtles. Then come home to your own private retreat where you can rest up for your next island adventure!
