This place was EXACTLY what we wanted! This house is a wonderful place to get together with friends and family to just kick back, relax and enjoy. The kitchen area is the PERFECT gathering spot for game night, family dinner and anything in between. The location of the home is PERFECT for skiing, as it is only a 2-3 min drive from the slopes. I loved my stay and I would definitely recommend this home to others. The check-in and check-out process was a breeze. We did not run into a single issue. The listing information is spot-on!

Make sure you email the daughter only, Mother told me one price Daughter said another. They count all children in a bed even if under 5 yrs. old. We had 3 bed empty the kids sleep in parents room. The ping pong very old paddles worn, Fuss Ball broken, Game peices missing, Stairs steep for children. The house was plain, dressers old draws missing, not cleaned very well, need some painting. The out side furniture on deck old worn out, No patio, only small grill, no grass, only weeds. If you like it rustic it's great. There was no TV's in bed rooms, only Master bed rm and the 2 Living Rm and there not that big. The Living room and Kitchen great size for large family get togethers.
Owner response:Every once in awhile we do have renters like this and it is a shame. She mentions the price. She received $100/night discount and signed the contract for it. If she was expecting something different, I am not sure why the contract was signed. Of course we count children as people! The rule on the mountain is no more than 18 in our home and we abide by the rules. This renter was very upset and tried several times to bring her dog. We explained about allergies of other guests and that is the reason. Still not happy. Her guests wanted to leave a day early. She asked a day or so before the rental if she could cancel a day. I told her it was unlikely that it would rent, but I would try. Then some of her group canceled. I do feel sorry that she was not happy, but the root of the problem seems to stem from her frustration with her group, not the house. Nothing was reported at the beginning of her stay. Our contract states if the renter doesn't report it, they are held responsible. We did not find most of the things she states when we went two days after her departure. There are definitely some rooms that need to be repainted. We have actually planned to spend time there in December doing maintenance and painting and adding more of the beautiful murals. The stairs are normal stairs in any house. There are pictures of the rooms and house so you can see everything that is there and the amenities are listed. Again, I feel sad that she did not enjoy her stay , but we think our home is lovely and a great place to gather.

We recently had a family get-together (9 of us) at Massanutten Resort and stayed in the Creekside Retreat. There is so much to do at Massanutten and the surrounding area - I hightly recommend it. The photos accurately reflect the home's appearance; it is in a very nice neighborhood and easily accessible. Unfortunately, upon our arrival we found the house in a very unclean condition ~ it appeared it had not been cleaned between renters; this does happen, particularily in a busy vacation season, and when it does you can only hope that you receive prompt attention from the owners. YES, YES, YES we did!!! The owners are fabulous and unbelievably responsive! The owner was extremely distressed at what we found and with her help I'm sure, the property manager was able to find us temporary lodging just up the road for the night. Early afternoon of the next day Creekside Retreat was ready for our stay. The property is wonderful for a large group. We will not hesitate to rent this home in the future should we need a large, well appointed, nicely stocked rental home in Massanutten Resort.
Owner response:Carol, I apologize again for the rocky start of your stay but am so happy it turned out so well. We welcome you anytime you would like to come! :) Thank you for bearing with us and understanding, you are a joy!

We spent a week in June with my parents and siblings' families at this house. The house layout was great for us because upstairs has a very large great room that includes kitchen, living room and two dining-table areas. This was awesome for our evening get together activities because we could all fit with ease. With furniture moved against the walls we had plenty of room even to square dance. It was great to have 7 bedrooms, each with enough floor space for a pack n' play or small children to sleep on the carpeted floor. Having so many bedrooms made it nice for people to get alone time when they needed it. The house's deck is also nice for relaxing outside on chairs. The house is in a very large, gated community with neighbors next door on either side. It's a very wooded area and we had 2 deer in the back yard one morning which was quite a spectacle for the kids especially. The back yard is a fairly narrow strip and backs up to woods. Even so there was enough room for us to do some back yard activities. The wooded decking and wide steps off the back made nice seating for us as we watched bobbing for apples and other activities. There isn't a front yard really since the driveway is bordered by large ravines on either side. The ravines were dry (June) except for one day when it had rained in the night. The bigger kids (5 & up) enjoyed climbing down into the ravines to play though you need to keep an eye on smaller children who might fall into them. The street is quiet and has very little traffic so the kids enjoyed riding their scooters in the street. The driveway is large so we did use it some for outside activities though usually we had it fairly full of cars. The owner of the house that we emailed with (Jami) was very nice and helpful. The owners gave us a good discount for reserving 5 months early for our June vacation. The house doesn't have internet access which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for in your vacation. A great plus of the Massanutten area over other parts of Virginia where we've had our family reunions is that there are so many fun things to do. The house is very close to the Water Park and to Shenendoah National Park. With about an hour drive we went to Luray Caverns and also Safari Animal Park - both were highlights of the week. The large gated community where this house is also has a pool, miniature golf and go-karts that we enjoyed.
Owner response:Sallie, so glad you guys had a great time! Loved reading about the fun you had! Come back anytime. :)

My family and I had such a lovely time! The first night we arrived, we were so taken by the house. It was in immaculate condition. The pictures online are nice, however, it does not give you the true beauty of this home. We had a dinner party for my wonderful husband, and it was more than enough space for my family and In-laws. We had a marvelous time! The children had a ball! We can't wait to plan for our next stay. The owners were wonderful!

Our four urban families thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful, clean and well-equipped mountain house for six July days, spacious, with rooms-enough for individual family privacy and of course memorable times together in the Great Room. There was much to do in the nearby area with the handy fishing pond, golf and trails according to one's desires. Our "kids" and their kids did lots of surfing and sliding at the nearby Water Park, while the Ranger's fire-building & campfire-talk in Shenandoah National Park was amazingly interesting – interlaced with facts and light humor for enjoyment and important learning. From kids to history buffs, it was a prize! The friendly doe visitation just 15 feet away thrilled the younger ones peeking from inside.Bill, Betty & four families, PA,NC,VA

The Marraccinis, Dickens, James Jr., James Sr., and Olson (OH, PA, & VA)families enjoyed their first family reunion at Creekside, and it was a huge success! The clean mountain air and quiet neighborhood created the perfect, natural setting for a relaxing and fun-filled adventure. The great room was our favorite...everyone ate meals, played games, and read without stepping on others' toes. The Water Park, Miniature Golf, and Go-Carts were hits, even with the grandparents. The owners are extremely pleasant and provided instructions/directions to help us plan our stay. Our 3-nights at Creekside just wasn't long enough!! We plan to return to Creekside real soon...who knows, the grandparents might take up skiing!!

We (6 families) stayed in this house for 2 days (the weekend of 10/13). It was such a nice house with great price. The owner (Jami) is so nice to answer every question we had. House was clean, well-equipped and well-decorated. It's close to everything -- dining, shopping and definitely, the Shenandoah National Park. We had a great time there and for sure will look forward to a revisit next year.
