Upscale Ocean View Condo (Winter Special $99 Per Night)
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Keauhou
When we first saw the map of the Big Island, we wanted a centrally located town that was near the coffee plantations, the lush tropical foliage, but not IN the forest. We also wanted to take advantage of the cooling tradewinds that blow above 100 ft. level (less mosquitoes, too!) Keauhou Resort is located on a golf course, a moments walk to the grocery store and restaurants and best of all, it sits on five acres, so we are not “on top” of our neighbors.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium
The unique benefits include being steps away from two pools surrounded by tropical landscaping. Another great feature is being able to walk to the Sheraton resort for Manta ray watching, cocktails, and a gorgeous view of Keauhou Bay. We also love being one mile from Snorkle Beach, one of the best snorkel beaches in the Hawaiian Islands! We can also walk to the end of the golf course and catch breaching whales, crashing waves and the glorious Kona sunset.

Owner's Map of Keauhou
Owners Profile: Eric, and Julie, and OJ and Baiba Ziemelis—Its all about the Spirit of Aloha!
Property owners in the SF Bay Area, Julie and Eric Ziemelis, moved to the Big Island of Hawaii and purchased their first condo in Keauhou Resort in 2005. During the year they spent in Keauhou with their two small children, they extensively remodeled the condo. Eric, a professional furniture designer and sculptor, was able to utilize his design and construction skills to completely deconstruct and rebuild the bathroom, kitchen, lanai and bedroom. Scouring the local shops and stores for interesting design elements, furniture, and amenities, Julie and Eric became VERY familiar with the stores on the Big Island!
The concept Eric and Julie had for the condo was simple: create a luxury condo that incorporates the “Spirit of Aloha” with the necessities of a well-stocked, home-away-from-home vacation getaway.Upon completion of the renovation, the Ziemelis family, who had an opportunity to participate in a variety of community spiritual opportunities, invited a local spiritual leader to the home to perform a traditional Hawaiian blessing. Ti leaves and bowls of salt were placed around the condo while prayers and chants were recited to bring peace and health to those that stayed in the home. We believe this cleansing and blessing ceremony has helped create a wonderful vacation experience for dozens of people who stay in our home.
