Beachfront Villa on the N Coast with Own Sandy Beach
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Bosocbel, 12 mins. E of Ocho Rios on Jamaica's gorgeous N coast, our family villa rents from 1 person for 1 night to as many as 8 guests for a longterm stay with a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, and 2 seaside patios on 2 floors, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The secure gated property has steps down to our private beach; windsurfers and cruise ships sail along the horizon. Wifi, DVDs, boombox, books, games, and soon cable TV. The day starts with fresh-squeezed OJ and a swim in the warm, clear waters from our private beach. Snorkelers will be amazed at the colorful corals and fish on the 2nd largest reef system in the world - reachable from our beach. A licensed massage therapist can come and take the kinks out of your sore muscles after a demanding day of touring; rent our cell phone to make calling home easy and cheap; have Paulette take care of your cooking, laundry, babysitting with another inexpensive option to make it even more like home, but better. Come and relax.
All inclusive Boscobel Beaches next door: Sharing the shoreline with Beaches Boscobel, the family-themed all-inclusive, guests at our villa can easily participate in the resort's outings at an additional cost. The new Ian Fleming Int'l airport is half a mile up the road with direct flights to the US and other islands and inter-island connections to airports in Montego Bay and Kingston (each a 2-hour drive by car).
Ocho Rios, Mystic Mountain & Dunn's River Falls: Our nearest city, Ocho Rios, is 10 miles West of the villa, and offers everything a tourist town should: large resorts, cinemas, horseback riding, swim with dolphins, tubing, zipline and ATV excursions, Mystic Mountain and the stunning and climbable Dunn's River Falls. Between Boscobel and Ocho Rios are attractions like the Prospect Plantation with its tours, history, & beautiful grounds. Golfers can tee off at the courses just up from the coast road. History buffs can enjoy a visit to Rio Nuevo with its gun emplacements on the coast. 5 mins in the other direction, check out James Bond Beach, named for creator Ian Fleming who spent time at his Jamaican retreat, Firefly in Oracabessa. The markets there and in and Ocho Rios are worth a visit whether shopping for the evening's meal or just wanting to take interesting photos.
Jamaica: So much to see and do in this, one of the largest and arguably most beautiful of the Caribbean Islands. The tropical year-round climate is softened with sea breezes, early morning showers, and happy smiling Jamaican faces. Make Doctors Villa your North coast home base but drive around and check out other parts of the island as well. Negril on the West coast has the reknowned sunsets of Rick's Cafe; the lush tranquility of Port Antonio on the East coast is often overlooked by tourists but a favorite for Jamaicans in the know; and the exciting and beautiful new areas around Black River and Treasure Beach on the South coast are not as easy to access but worth every pothole. There's something for everyone which keeps so many foreign yardies - Jamaicans living abroad - and others returning to this paradise island year after year.

We arrived Thursday 03/14 and stayed for 7 days. Paulette and John greeted us upon arrival. Paulette prepared great local dishes for us and we enjoy it very much. The property was just as described… Magnificent! Paulette and John where extremely accommodating. Deano transported us from the airport to the property and pointed out all important information regarding the area during the trip. I am short on words, but all I can say is that my entire family enjoyed it, we did not want to leave and most definitely will stay there again in the future. It was a pleasure doing business with Mia and many thanks to Paulette and John!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Clean well maintained property that has all the amenities that one would need while on vacation. Owner was a pleasure to do business with and i will hope to continue to do business with whenever i need somewhere to stay in Jamaica. also Ms. Paulette and caretaker John was the best! they provided us with any assistance we needed or information. this place is a true treasure and i will definitely be back sooner rather than later.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Filling all the beds in the family's unit (my bed!) as well as the Villa worked out ok, thanks to Paulette and respectful guests. Thank YOU for taking care of our place. You'll have to come back someday and see what John' done with the two gallons of paint!

I arrived late in the afternoon to find some brown stew fish, steamed veggies and rice, plus a jug of lemonade in the frig. It was delish! Paulette is really the "star" of the stay as well as the pristine view and spacious, gorgeous bedrooms. She also made me, escovitch fish and a huge pot of porridge for three breakfasts. My taste buds were in heaven, and it was so convenient to have it all made up so I could eat, whenever. I had one of the gigantic bedrooms, with a big walk in closet and a perfect bathroom with a tub. It was located right off the tv room. The huge picture window allows you the sea view from your bed. I read a lot, so it was very relaxing for me. I really was there to decompress from too much stress during the last 6 months of 2012. This is the place for that. There are two wonderful verandahs. One off the kitchen and one off the common room between the upper two bedrooms (not the family suite) I LIVED in the upped verandah, and even dozed off a few evenings because there are two very comfortable chaise lounge chairs. The sound of the waves and the "police bugs", will lull you off into the most incredible sleep ever. I slept about 10 hours every night. The private beach was lovely, and I sat and read, swam, floated, and just inhaled all the healthy sea air. This was what ended my bout with the sinus infection plaguing the North East, USA, before I left. I had no problems at all with those selling things on the beach, next door. Jamaica is the best place to heal from anything. Whether physical or emotional, you will find peace of mind and relaxation in this fine home Mia has decided to share with all of "we". Her taste in furniture and the entire vibe of the house is just wonderful. The kitchen has everything you could need, even a blender. The WI-FI came in right away, and I played sweet reggae music instead of tv. I feasted on soursop, mango's, pineapple, and papaya. I threw some of it in the blender with coconut milk and almond milk. Talk about a healthy lunch in a glass. The yard has some tiers of grassy areas by the clothesline, so they sure made great use of the entire property. Ask John to carry down a chair to the beach in the AM, and then you can leave it there all day, even if you come up for a quick bite to eat or a nap. He will bring it back up for you at the days end. This is truly a slice of heaven. You will not be disappointed. I promise you that. Thank you Mia, for a very relaxing time in your home~Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Kristine, it was a pleasure to have you in our simple seaside home. I'm so happy it worked out and you were able to get the healthy food and sleep you needed to keep the healing happening. Paulette looks forward to meeting your husband and son on future visits - maybe I'll get to, too.

Our stay was the trip of a lifetime for my family. We have been on several cruises, all inclusive resorts and nothing can compare to Doctor's Villa. From my very first email with Mia one year ago I just knew it was going to be a wonderful trip. I knew exactly what to expect from the owner's detailed description. I had several questions and Mia always answered immediately. My husband, 6 grown children and two grand kids ( 3 and 4) had the time of our life. The house is even more beautiful in real life. It was one of the cleanest and well maintained places we have ever visited. To walk down the steps and swim in our own private beach from sun up to sun down was just amazing. The layout of the home provided the perfect amount of privacy for each family while still letting us enjoy being together. My grandchildren loved watching the DVDs that Paulette went out of her way to get them and eating the coconuts that John cut fresh in the morning. They swam and explored the grounds the true adventurers. Paulette,John and George took extreme car of all of us. We did not rent a car and relied on George who had a ten passenger van to carry us to the store, restaurants, and a couple excursions. Paulette and George were very helpful in recommending places to see and things to do. I believe they would have moved a mountain if we asked. We all left feeling like we have an extended family in Jamaica. I tried to think of something negative and struggled to come up with anything. Well, we did only wake up to rainbows half of the time , but then again one was on NewYear's day so that made up for everything! :) The only suggestion I have would be for some tiki torches on the beach. John made us a fire and the extra lighting would be beautiful. We are starting to save our money for our next vacation and we all plan on coming back to Doctor's Villa. I would love for everyone to be able to experience this perfect little slice of heaven on earth. Thank you Mia for sharing your beautiful home and wonderful friends with my family. As I said before, we all left a part of our heart at Doctor's Villa!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Donna, things haven't been quite as sunny since you left. Your family will forever be remembered as simply the best guests to end a year at Doctors Villa. Thank you for showing Paulette how special we know she is.

I had an amazing time at the villa it was absolutely perfect, while we spent most of our time exploring the island the time we had at the villa was superb. The beach was perfect and the house was great to come back to after a long day and sense its on the main highway it was a straight shot for most anywhere we went. great stay i completely could see my self coming back hopefully soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Ryan, you were brave to rent a car and experience the kind of Jamaica not many get to see. I'm glad our little place on the water worked out. Hard to find tucked away behind the Beaches property, but you managed beautifully. Come back for your honeymoon! or anytime : )

My family of 6 stayed at the Villa for 1 week. the pictures don't do it justice. Mia was very easy to communicate and make arrangements with. Everything we arranged went without a hitch. The site staff are nice and even called to check in on us. The property is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. The beach is sandy, clear & warm. It can be hard to get to if you have any disabilities or are clumsy. The beach is meant to be private but we were never alone. There's nothing like falling asleep and waking up to the ocean's sounds and views. The beds are hard and the pillows need to be replaced. There was a lot of bugs and even some cockroaches, which found homes in our clothes and beds - even on us. We rolled with it. It's an island and hurricane Issac was passing by - the bugs were seeking shelter. John and his family live on site, so you will see them everyday. His daughters are adorable and can give you a real insight to what it's like growing up in Jamaica. The downside is that here you are on vacation, staying in a beautiful home and they are cooking their dinner on an open fire outside. It weighed on our hearts, but also added value to our trip. The vendors are PUSHY! They will literally push you into their store. Keep the small bills on the outside and don't let them see how much you have. The vendors on the beach next the property were annoying and accused us of being disrespectful if we didn't buy their things. If thought the TJ boarder was bad, Jamaica is a whole different level. Rick's Cafe, Glowing Lagoon, Dunn's Falls, Green Grotto Caves, and Rose Halls are a must. The location is approx 2 hours away from Montego Bay, so if the touristy areas are your thing, this isn't the place for you. However, if you adventurous, brave and want to experience Jamaica then stay here. You're forced to wander and mingle which added value to our trip. We rented a car and drove all over the island. Got lost a few times, but made amazing memories.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Vanessa, you had a wild time, and you survived Hurricane Isaac....Sandy was much worse! We're all working hard to get the place cleared up and be ready for the holiday season. Sorry your trip wasn't perfect, but seems you made the most of it. Thanks for pointing out the areas where we can improve and accepting those that we can't.

Paulette took us to the grocery again, mid way through the week and it was awesome! She cooked a few times and it was all so great! Mia - the Villa is awesome and your view of the SEA is breathtaking! Our experience was one of the real Jamaica! My son had the TIME OF HIS LIFE! He was able to get very up close and personal with the natives there and sometimes we were a little too close! LOL! It is unreal the begging and expecting of tips that goes on - oh my - the only downside to be honest! Otherwise it was so incredible that I am contemplating some plans for DESTINATION weddings. I am a photographer and an event planner - needless to say, your acommodations would suit many groups just fine! I told Paulette about the possibility and she was thrilled! The set up for such a thing is perfect! Especially because of the local presence you have and Paulette and George. If everything is pre-planned it can be just FABULOUS! Just like our trip! We had a real tropical experience there. We spent most of the time at the Villa - went to town a few times then to Bob Marley's place and Dunn's River Falls. Other than that, we were happy to be right there beachside and seaside just as we wanted! Thank you Mia for the opportunity to share your Villa and the gorgeous Carribean! We appreciated all that you did for us and everything was awesome! You take care and I hope to be in touch with some future plans! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Desiree'Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: What a fun bunch. I really wish I'd been there to meet you, share in the fun and help you deal with 3rd world poverty. Paulette and John were pleased they were able to surprise your daughter with grilled chicken and a cake for her 21st birthday. We're getting ready for destination weddings - we've got birthdays down! Thanks for making it Doctors Villa for your Jamaica vacation.

Doctors Villa has an amazing View of the Caribbean sea, you couldn't ask for more. The pictures on site does not do the property justice. Booking this home was hassle free and the owner Miss M was very organized and made sure everything was in place for our arrival. I have stayed in homes all over Jamaica and Miss M was the first owner to give me a list of emergency numbers for hospitals, pediatricians , quick prescriptions and urgent care usually i research this on my own and when traveling with a infant having this list on hand does give you peace of mind. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and Paulette the house manager was there to greet us she was very pleasant and courteous, She also did grocery shopping for us and prepared our meals. Paulette made the best Ackee and saltfish I have ever tasted it was just a delight. John was easy going and always had a smile, he made lunch for my family of 7 adults and 2 teenage boys. He made chicken on the grill which was excellent we enjoyed it , seasoned and grilled to perfection( better than chicken we had at Boston bay Portland the previous day). All rooms had a beautiful beach View and we slept with the waves crashing in the background. Each morning we had a swim in the warm ocean water. My Family had a blast. The only thing I would change was the option to have the Air conditioning if we wanted as it was humid and my Infant was fussy from the heat. Overall it was a five star stay.Owner response: Paulette and John are so pleased you enjoyed their Jamaican cooking and look forward to you returning for more! A/C next time, or a dedicated second fan specially for anyone feeling uncomfortable. We want happy baby, and mama! Thanks for taking the time to let us know.

I go to Jamaica 2-3 times a year and spend most of my time in Boscobel. Early this year me my parents and their friends spent 5 nights at Doctors Villa and we enjoyed every second of our stay! This summer i came back to spend almost 4 weeks and decided to stay at Doctors Villa and as the title says, it really was the best summer! I was lucky to celebrate my birthday there! I invited a few friends and John, dear John took care of the food! And if the sun doesn't shine, have a chat with Paulette the sun herself! I would recommend this place to everyone no matter what the purpose of your trip is! And yeah, great location! No matter if you have your own car or not!Owner response: Thank you Angelica! Your wonderful words will mean the world to Paulette and John, as they do to me. I just have to get them a laptop down there in Nov. so they can see for themselves that their efforts are appreciated. They'll be SO pleased!

Year Purchased: 1984
About the owner: One of 'doctor's' 9 children, we left Jamaica when I was 3 mos. old and emigrated to Canada. Some of us make it a mission to get back there every chance we get, and I've decided I'd like to move back when my kids are grown. Tough to live in a 3rd world country, but the air, the sea, the beautiful spirit of the place and its people has called to me more than any of the other 25 countries I've lived in or visited. This is one foreign yardie who's working to get back to di yard.
Why the Owner Chose Boscobel:
Dad bought this house on the sea for Mom who rarely stays up in her top floor Family Suite bedroom as she has a sister in Kingston and a brother in Ocho Rios, but still loves it when it's full of her family the way it was intended. The view is awesome and the addition of the top floor makes it possible to have many of her 9 children and 16 grandchildren there at once.
