Located one house back from the beach with views of Long Island Sound, close to Madison Beach Hotel, which offers cocktails overlooking the sea and casual dining. Walk up the beach or along the road to the Madison Surf Club that has a large playground, snack bar and many family-oriented activities. Walk or bike into town, only a mile away.
Madison has much to offer including: beautiful beaches, many restaurants, independent bookstore (with book signings and other events), art cinema and numerous one-of-a-kind shops. Ten minutes from outlet stores, convenient for Shoreline East Train, with connection to Grand Central Station, New York. Close to picturesque seaside towns of Stony Creek and Mystic Seaport.

Year Purchased: 1999
I'm originally from England but feel very much at home in New England. My husband is Italian and feels equally at home here, especially as there is good pizza to be found locally. We have one son, Seth, who was born in the U.S. and who went to boarding school in Madison. Currently we live in Georgia but come up to Madison whenever we can get away.
Why the Owner Chose Madison
More than a vacation rental, this is our treasured refuge. We bought this house when we were about to be transferred to South America - we couldn't bear the thought of not coming back to Madison. The town has so much to offer: small enough for people to say hello when you pass them on the street, large enough to offer everything you need in the way of shopping and entertainment. The easy train ride to New York or Boston was also a big plus for us.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We enjoy having breakfast on the veranda, sunset strolls to the wharf, listening to music on the lawn of the Madison Beach Hotel. We can bike into town and pick up bagels and the newspaper. If we feel energetic, we can cycle all the way down the beach road and come back through town. On summer evenings, we arrange to meet friends at the Surf Club for a picnic dinner - although we also love eating on our screened porch. In winter, we enjoy a cosy evening at Madison Art Cinema and a glass of wine in town, or we light the fire and have friends over.
