The ever-changing Chester River is the focal point of the house. Watermen called this section of the river “Moon Bay,” hence the name The River House on Moon Bay. Thirty feet from the water’s edge, large, sliding glass doors open onto a deck and patio, bringing the beauty of the river into the living areas in all seasons.
To the north is an intimate view of a wooded sandbar that forms the mouth of Becky Brown Creek; to the east and south is a panoramic view of the Chester River. In addition to 400’ of waterfront, the property includes a small beach, natural woodland, and marshland. The tidewater habitat has abundant bird- and wildlife.
The layout of the house offers several self-contained activity areas: the living-dining-kitchen area, the patio and deck, the gaming room with a pool table, the upstairs dorm and playroom, and the south bedroom wing. The house is equipped with satellite TV; internet access; and an outdoor, gas grill. In summer, an NSCA-certified personal trainer is available by appointment for an extra fee.
Complementing the privacy of the house, colonial Chestertown is 7 miles away. The town has a lovely historic district, an active theater and arts community, art galleries, and antique shops.Washington College, founded in 1782, enlivens the intellectual life of the Upper Shore, and there are also great opportunities for boating, cycling, birding, horseback riding, and clay shooting in the area.
