Our home is located 10 minutes from the Kona-side airport (KOA), at approximately 1200 ft. altitude, where the trade winds keep it cool and comfortable. Our main house has a spacious living room and two lanais for enjoying the sunset, relaxing, and dining al fresco. Ceiling fans in every room provide a cool and comfortable atmosphere year-round. Newly remodeled kitchen has a gas stove, side-by-side refrigerator with filtered water and ice in the door, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and grinder, blender, juicer, and rice cooker.
Newly remodeled bathrooms: hall bathroom with hand-crafted wood vanity with granite counter top and walk-in shower with iridescent tile; master bath with jetted tub, handcrafted wood vanity with matching blue tile counter top - gorgeous!
Our guest bedrooms welcome you with 100% cotton sateen sheets, duvet or comforter, and fluffy pillows. The master bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has two twin beds with 100% cotton sheets.
Enjoy your coffee on the back lanai surrounded by tropical birdsong and lush foliage. Smell the Tahitian gardenias and plumeria blooming just inches away. You may see a stalk of bananas ripening on our banana trees, or yellow lilikoi (tart, sweet passion fruit) ready to fall and be enjoyed.
Our guest suite has a separate entrance, and en suite bath with tub/shower. Perfect for the bride and groom while their family and guests enjoy our main home, or for the 'late birds' in your party. Sliding glass doors open onto the back lanai, where you may enjoy your morning coffee in peace, overlooking our beautiful tropical foliage.
Ceiling fans in the living room, on the back lanai, and all bedrooms provide comfortable tropical living year-round. 100% cotton sateen sheets and fluffy towels provided for your comfort. Hand-crafted wood and tile/granite bathroom vanities and personal wooden niche storage units - gorgeous!
Dining area with large table and seating for up to eight people, outdoor dining/seating for nine, and indoor koa bar with seating for four; comfortable couches and chairs in the living room with TV and DVD player, and DVD library for your enjoyment.

Entertainment at our home includes DIRECTV television and news stations. We also have a DVD player and a library of DVDs for your viewing pleasure. a Bose CD player and radio, Hawaii and paperback books to borrow and return, playing cards, dominoes and Scrabble.

I would have only positive things to say about this 5 weeks experience in this house and with the dealings with Susan and Tom. Great location, great views, clean, internet worked well, spacious, fruit trees all over and the over the top kindness of our hosts. Very warm and welcoming, quick to respond to our needs. I wouldnt hesitate one second to go back. Well done.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This home was perfect for our needs. There was 6 of us, my wife, 2 boys,ages 13 and 9, and my inlaws. We were comfortable in their home the whole time. There home is bright and airy. We enjoyed fresh fruit from their yard on most mornings. Their home is centrally located. 2 1/2 hours to Volcanic National Park, 1 hour to two steps, a great place to snorkel, and about 2 hours to Hilo. It's about 10 to 15 minutes into Kona. We shopped at Safeway which is about 15 minute drive. Their home is at 1200 feet which provides an ideal c limate. I enjoyed running on their steep roads. You feel like you're going either straight up or down the whole time. Great for a challenging run or walk. Would not recommend trying to ride a bike there. Bikers seemed to meet at the Kona Aquatic center to start their rides anyhow. We used all the appliances: washer and dryer, dishwasher, gas stove, coffee maker and BBQ grill. Everything worked great. They have several movies you can watch but no cable T.V. Wasn't a problem for us at all. Enjoyed getting away from all the news. Tim and Susan are a warm couple and gracious hosts. Would enjoy staying there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're always available to help our guests get the most out of their stay in Hawaii. This family wanted to "hit the ground running" for their six-night vacation. We prepared and cleaned the three bedrooms and bathrooms first, so they could drop their luggage four hours before check-in, change clothes, and directed them to the nearest convenience store for water and snacks to take to the beach. We then finished cleaning and preparing the living room, kitchen and and all the lanais for their stay.

This home was perfect for our family stay in Kona. The house was centrally located to all fun activities on the Kona coast and just a hop skip and jump from the airport. The house was clean and spacious and had all the amenities we needed. We even had a Pack N Play for our infant! Soooo nice to not have to pay to travel with ours. The view was beautiful, the neighborhood was quiet and we had a great stay here.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We're always happy when we've gone that little bit extra for our guests! We've got mattress pads, crib sheet, and a Hawaiian-print comforter to go with our Pack N' Play, so your little one will enjoy being with you in Hawaii, too.

No problems here. While the area underneath is rather disheveled with old exercise & woodworking equipment, the livable portion is splendid, the kitchen well appointed; we and our kids had a good time. The location is a few short minutes from Kona Airport (we were easily able to navigate after night arrival) and similarly close to Costco, Ali'i Drive, and roads with access to other parts of the island. The yard contains several fruit trees and so fresh fruit is easily available most mornings! The owners are friendly and everything went smoothly. One minor unfortunate aspect was that in the time of year we were there, the sunset was blocked by some neighborhood trees. Another time of year this wouldn't even happen - or just view from a bar or beach!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We take our reviews to heart: the wood working equipment has almost all been moved and stored, the exercise equipment is gone, and we're discussing what we will do with this open space. Suggestions appreciated!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at this vacation rental. With its location at a higher elevation, it was actually cool at night; perfect for sleeping. It's about 20 minutes to downtown Kona. We got all our fruits / vegetables from the Farmers Market. For inexpensive local food, try Big Island Grill and Pine Tree Cafe. For fresh poke, go to try Da Poke Shack and also available at Costco on weekends. The house was clean and had all the amenities you would expect. There is WiFi and a TV, but not much channels. Our kids loves the chicken raised on the property and the occasional morning visits from the wild turkeys. And the fresh eggs from these chickens are the best! There's also a herb garden to pick from, along with numerous fruit trees. Tim and Susan were very responsive when we had questions. Thanks for offering up your housed and making it a memorable vacation for our entire family.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children.
Owner response: While many guests like Joe and his family enjoyed our little chicken flock, others did not. When a feral (wild) chicken flock moved into our neighborhood, we made the difficult decision to give away our family pets and egg providers. Now guests can enjoy our vacation rental home with only the occasional wild turkey (really!) wandering through the yard.
