"Heavenly Kula - a room with a view" is an understatement. Not only was the room very elegant, but the views were breathtaking. We were serenaded by a variety of birds upon wakening in the morning. Masako & Fred were gracious hosts and made us feel welcome, like old friends coming for a visit. They are very knowledgeable about Maui. Everything about this rental exceeded our expectations. We booked upcountry for a couple of days to have a shorter drive for sunrise on Mount Haleakala, but would return here for a longer stay on a future holiday to Maui. The tour of the Tedeschi Winery was interesting and sunrise atop the mountain is a spectacular experience. I have never seen so many stars. Would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a relaxing, peaceful experience.
Owner response:We love people like you who enjoy and appreciate what we love so much. Travelers who come up here above clouds are very so special. In other word you have good taste !

I came to Maui for a Yoga retreat in January and needed a couple of days to decompress and adjust to tropics. I don't think I could have gotten a better situation. First, Masako and Fred are the most friendly hosts you can encounter. Right from the first minute I felt welcome. Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised by the very spacious and private studio apartment, the awesome views towards the coast on one side and the wonderful yard towards the other. My favorite times were the mornings, when you could sit on the sun-flooded lanai, eat breakfast and listen to the birds. It's wonderfully quiet in 'Heavenly Kula.' The small kitchen is very well equipped and I had no difficulties making breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets are wonderfully soft. Another favorite of mine was the heated toilet seat with built-in bidet. I highly recommend this room and plan to be back on my next trip to Maui.
Owner response:So nice to share a place we love with people like you. The house becomes filled with joy and warms. Thank you very much to be our guests.

Having been previous residents of Maui, upcountry Kula is our favorite area to stay when we go for a visit. This was our first time to stay at this wonderful vacation rental. The owners, Fred and Masako were wonderful hosts, and have a beautiful, very relaxing studio apartment that is perfect for two. It has everything you need, along with exceptional views of lower Maui and other islands. It is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and escape reality for awhile! My two favorite amenities were the HUGE shower with amazing views, and lounging or having breakfast on the lanai overlooking their gorgeous back yard. We stayed for nine days, had a private entrance to come and go, and enjoyed getting to know Fred and Masako. I would highly recommend this great place to stay - you will not be disappointed - just sad to leave!
Owner response: People like you make this place so nice. How we enjoyed your company. We are very grateful that you brought your world to us.

The suite was very comfortable, spacious and had all kinds of thoughtful touches. And the view was just incredible! If you want a relaxing getaway, this is your place. Super conveneient to getting up to Haleakala and anywhere else in the Upcountry area. Masako and Fred were wonderful hosts but also very respectful of your privacy. Highly recommended!!

What a great place. It's quiet and very relaxing. We were a little apprehensive as we usually hotel it, but the suite was very private with it's own kitchen, lanai and fabulous views. Excellent hosts in an extremely comfortable setting. Would highly reccomend this upcountry retreat away from the busy tourist towns.

We had a wonderful stay at Heavenly Kula in 6/07! Masako is a very thoughtful hostess, and the room has everything you need and more. Full kitchen, beautiful bath, and the ocean views are magnficient! We enjoyed wine and appetizers and a beautiful Maui sunset our first evening with Masako and the cats--delightful conversation, and learned a lot about living in Maui. Thank you again, Masako, for all your hospitality--we will be back!
