Once again, VRBO has guided us to a superb vacation rental. "Coast of Dreams" met all our expectations and then some. The owner provided for every information we could wish for and then some. All the details provided by the VRBO listing were fully met. We had a great mid-February stay when the weather can be brisk - a little rain at night and sunny, windy days along the northern California coast. The golf course makes for a beautifully manicured site of considerable size. We had our dog with us; he had a great time at the beach. The house is very nicely furnished and was well equipped for our desire to have several home cooked dinner meals.

There were four big, beautiful beach towels, neatly folded in the closet. We were slightly disappointed that they seemed a little damp when we took them from the closet shelf to use after our excellent hot tub, and were very disappointed when the owner emailed me to say two were missing. Fortunately they were found hanging in the bathroom - problem solved. Everything else in the house was fine, from the well-equipped kitchen to the excellent fireplace. We were pleasantly surprised that the house is much bigger, cleaner, and brighter than it looks in the photos. Since the posted rates for VRBOs don't contain the owners' extra charges for things like linens, cleaning, dog fee, processing fee and, of course, taxes, the rental cost a fair amount more than the listing - about the equivalent of another night's stay. I would definitely recommend this property to friends with one caveat: renting directly from an owner can involve a great deal of instructions and reminder notes/post-its, so the forfeiture of the security deposit always looms, which can add a certain tension to the whole experience. Maybe some of this friction could be alleviated if VRBO would give the homeowners an opportunity to review and rate us renters?

We stayed for the first time at Bodega Harbour in the lovely "Coast of Dreams" home. We found everything we needed and were very comfortable there. The master bed was incredibly plush and snuggly. The hot tub and upper deck were perfect for star gazing. We were fortunate to have perfect weather so we hiked, hiked, hiked. We will definitely stay here again.

We had such a wonderful time, the house was so beautiful and yet cozy. My teens loved the loft. We had fun relaxing in front of the fireplace, preparing meals together in the fully stocked kitchen and yet we had to enough private space when any of us wanted to be alone. The walk to the beach was a little steep and might be challenging for some but it was worth it when you got there. As an added bonus in the house we had everything we needed for entertainment: books, games, stereo, tv, cable and the internet was fast and reliable. We appreciated all the considerate touches that Millie did that made us feel so welcome in her home.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review. We love to walk and forget that not everyone does. There are several trails down to the beach but I guess you have to know the area. The easiest walk to the beach is at the golf club and restaurant area. It is a paved walkway with a few stairs at the bottom section. I usually recommend that trail to families with young children. There are also bathrooms there.

We stayed for four nights at New Years and had one of the best times we have had at Bodega Bay. The house is very comfortable with lots of seating, a place to do puzzles, the propane crab pot was terrific.....it was good to be able to cook the crab outside. Its location is great with the golf course and water view on one side and another golf hole on the other. We all decided that the beds were dreamy and the loft has a great view. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone, in fact we plan to rent it again.

Over the past 25 years our family has rented houses and condos on the east, west and gulf coasts, as well as in Hawaii -- and this is, hands-down, the best-stocked place we've ever stayed. The kitchen has every pot, pan, appliance and cooking utensil you will need; there were 2 roasting pans and 2 pie plates available for our big Christmas dinner. Several sets of dishes insure that you'll have all the place setings for any kind of meal; we are a bunch of cooks, and we were delighted by this. The beds and bed linens were wonderful. A notebook with information and instructions (something that I usually find in the better rental properties; always a good sign) gives the necessary details for running the TV/DVD and household appliances, and for navigating your way around Bodega Bay. If you have a question, Millie is available and is quick to respond. I found her pleasant and easy to deal with, also something I've come to expect with owners of higher-end properties. Quality shows. The house is tidy and well-maintained, and the wood stove is amazing. I was skeptical about that stove; we had an asthmatic adult and a preemie infant with lung problems in our group. But the stove is virtually smokeless and does a beautiful job of heating the large open living/dining area. The walk to the beach is pleasant and scenic (you can crawl through a cave on the beach if you arrive at low tide; fun for kids. And grown-ups.). And yes, we heard seals while soaking in the outdoor hot tub. A great place to relax and get away from it all. Perfect for a Christmas vacation; Millie had decorations out, and offered to lend us an artificial tree plus ornaments!

A stunningly beautiful home located on the hill overlooking both Bodega Harbor and the ocean. Great views from every room throughout the house. Easy beach access down a path. The home is decorated very well and provides an inviting location for a relaxing vacation. Kitchen is newly updated and very well stocked with everything you'll need. The hosts left helpful instructions to help you enjoy their home. Making the arrangements with Millie was simple and easy. She couldn't have done more to facilitate our stay including hints for restaurants and activities. We've rented many VRBO homes and this is one of the best.

This is a wonderful home for families. We had 7, including two younger children and the house was great. Nicely appointed, comfortable, stocked with games, well-accessorized kitchen, gas grill--all made the stay very comfortable. Nice walk to the beach. Great neighborhood. Great views. Well-maintained. I would recommend this property.

We had an amazing time on this trip. Millie's home is awesome. Lots of room and the king bed was so comfy! Clean and spotless throughout. This place is stocked with just about everything you could want. Close to the Russian River area wineries and some of the most beautiful drives up the coast. Heard seals from the beach, didn't see them though. Saw one seal on Bodega Head, amazing views there. Sonoma area was closer than we originally thought. We saw the most amazing stars and shooting stars from the front driveway! A good burger joint or microbrewery in town would be nice.
Owner response:So glad you enjoyed our coast. We love it too and love that we are so close to everything. Please come back.

We stayed here the first week of August and really enjoyed it. The house is very well maintained and extremely well stocked. Millie provides everything that you could possibly need. We used the home for a family reunion for the week so there were extra people in and out all of the time. We had plenty of cooking utensils and cook ware of all sorts and sizes. Every spice needed was available. With the amount of dinnerware provided we were able to have more than one meal for our group of eight without having to wash everything every time. The home is very comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The hot tub was completely ready for use upon arrival and used every day. Although I'm sure it is rated for four people it was somewhat crowded when four used it at the same time. The views (when the fog lifted) was great. The golf course that the property sits on is amazing. It plays fairly for all levels and the views from every hole are so beautiful that it would be hard to choose a signature hole. Millie went above and beyond in providing information about the area. I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking to stay in this area. You will find everything as advertised with extras and service beyond those advertised.
Owner response:Thanks for the praises. We are not golfers but we hear from our golfing friends that the course is difficult but spectacular. It is very nice to hear such things about our home and the area. Hopefully you can come back. Mills

Great home all the comforts and conveniences. The weather was breathtaking all weekend, and the views from the house (almost every room) were gorgous. The house was perfect for my husband and I, along with our 4 legged friend. We celebrated his 60th birthday w/ 2 other couples who spent 1 evening with us and there was plenty of room for 3 couples to sleep comfortably. Working with Millie (the homeowner) to secure our reservation was seamless. Thanks again for sharing your home with us we will certainly be back. The Parker's.

We stayed at your home the weekend of January 29-31 and could not have been more comfortable! Our guests loved being there, too. What we so appreciated was the layout of the home: spacious, but warm. Everyone had privacy, but not too many stairs to negotiate. Especially enjoyed the loft area--you are above the living room, but private, with your own special view! You can enjoy walking around the development,to the beach, exploring Pinnacle Gulch. Lots to do close by, which is why we love Bodega Bay and will definitely return.

We stayed from 2/12 to 2/15/10 for a Valentine Weekend Getaway. This was our first time here, and it is so nice and cozy and so homey. The place had everything one would need, and the kitchen had all the essentials you could ask for. We wished we could have stayed longer. The views of the ocean was very nice also, so many different spots to see the ocean. We hope to come back again soon.

What a wonderful Christmas with our family and two teen grandchildren. Coast of Dreams was just perfect to catch up, play games, talk, read and walk on the beach. We froze at the beach but it did not matter because we went back and jumped into the hot tub. It just felt like home. We have been renting houses for years in California and Canada and Coast of Dreams is truly one of the best. We will be back.

Four of us stayed her for a week in October and it was LOVELY! We saw deer roaming around on the golf course and loved the facilities-had a fire going every evening and cooked most of our meals here as well. The binder with the maps and suggestions of places to visit was very helpful and we really appreciated Millie having "the basics" ready in the house for us-coffee, dish soap, toilet paper etc. The house was beautiful, comfortable and with all the amenities....we loved it!

Even though we awoke the first day to pouring rain, the fireplace kept us warm and toasty. We did manage to get in a couple of great walks between the downpours. The rest of the week was beautiful and clear. We had our evening drinks in the loft, watching the sun set and the beautiful cloud formations. The hot tup was convenient and relaxing with the kitchen quite sufficient. After roaming the beach and visiting tghe other little towns, (try Hog Island Oysters in Marshall) it was great to come home to this house. We will definitely try to come back. Thank you Millie.

I have a husband and two grown daughters with families of their own. We were all able to have a wonderful long weekend at the Coast of Dreams. We found the well stocked kitchen a wonderful surprise, and the rest of the house a perfect layout for three separate families. We loved the close proximity to the beach and town alike. One evening at sunset, we were at the beach and were treated to a large group of sea lions fishing right off shore!

Another year at the Coast of Dreams has come and gone...once again, way too fast! Staying at the Coast of Dreams is like coming home to a beautiful home and environment each year. There's so much to do in the area and to have such easy access to two beaches is wonderful! Even with the fog rolling in early a few evenings, we bundled up and enjoyed watching all the wildlife in the water and on the beach. This year we took full advantage of both beaches, the private hot tub, the cozy fireplace, plus took day trips up and down the coast, enjoying every minute of our stay. Thanks Millie for opening up your home to us so we could have a simply fantastic vacation and a wonderful home to stay in while we were there.

The cool evenings were very enjoyable with the hot tub & cosy wood stove. Watching the sunset from the upstairs bed was delightful each evening. My husband and I spent a week at this lovely home with another couple. Both downstairs bedrooms offer deck access. One (larger) bedroom has an attached bathroom, the other bedroom accesses a bathroom in the hall, which is also shared by other household members. An upstairs open-aired loft has an additional bed and sleeping space. All beds are updated and don't sag!!! There are comfortable and purchased with promoting healthy sleep in mind. The furnishings were very comfortable, and the house was extremely well-equipped and clean upon arrival. The kitchen boasted all modern conveniences and appliances. You will not need to buy anything but what you want to eat and drink. We loved the long dining table which easily seats 8 or more if needed. There is a large CD/DVD collection. There is a protected lower deck for outdoor relaxing and dining. Beach access is a .5 mile hike through a beautiful canyon trail, accessible one block from the house. If you golf (which we do not) this house would be an added bonus. There are interesting places to explore in this well-situated, clean, and very well-equipped home. It did not feel like a rental. It felt like a home.

You need not take much there because "everything" is provided. Our weekend's weather was very stormy but that only added to our enjoyment. It's a very cozy place to get "shelter from the storm" with a very efficient wood burning stove and a truly vast DVD collection. We cooked all of our meals in and everything we needed to do so was provided. The setting is beautiful with views out of all windows of the sea, the rolling hills and the golf course. You will not be disappointed.

It is nice to see someone who shares their entire house and nothing is locked up. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all of the personal touches in your house. My wife Cindy particularly enjoyed the plant life as she is an avid gardener. We dined at Rocker Oysterfellers - very good - and The Tides also good.
