We came to Maui with friends, stayed 4 nights in Kahana and were looking forward to staying a week in Kihei. We found our condo at the Island Surf adequate but nothing special. The decor was dated, the kitchen needed updating, and overall a little tired looking. Location was pretty good although the construction next door was a bit noisy and there was a lot of traffic. We stayed in the back bedroom...was nice, bed was great but we couldn't shut the door to the hall and it kept blowing open with the draft from the sliding doors so we had to prop a suitcase against it to have privacy. The view was good, was within walking to cafes and shops, and parking was great. Overall we prefer a quieter area ....we have always stayed further south a little more out of the high traffic areas. Maui is a beautiful island and we had a fantastic time.. There were several beach chairs and coolers available that we appreciated using. Loved the shopping market, Maui tacos, and Threes restaurant that were all close by.

Owner response: Aloha guest, since you have not booked with me and never tried to contact me before or during your stay I feel your entry is rather interesting. Like your complaint about a not working bedroom door, when the door you are talking about is an additional door besides the bedroom door that is fully functioning, and allows a guest to lock up their unit from the other unit for additional 'noise' privacy. The key for that was in the condo and could have been provided to you anytime if you would have just asked. (Some guests that stay with children prefer to put that key aside.) Our 24/7 service # is clearly posted in the condo and a simple phone call or e-mail would have taken care of that within minutes..) Our entire kitchen was remodeled with brand new cabinets, tiled countertops and brand new standard appliances less than 2 years ago and I am sorry to hear that it was not to your 'taste'. Everything in the condo including the ‘tired’ kitchen looks exactly like shown on the website and since you didn’t book with me you should ask your friend that actually made the reservation with me, why she picked that condo. I assume the price was a little bit more inviting then the condo. We try our VERY BEST to please every guest but we can’t win them all and since the only ‘contact’ we all had with you is through this review I guess you were not really interested in giving us a chance. Glad you took the time once back home to let your feelings be known (anonymously).

The Best Vacation I Have Ever Had!

My best friend and I had an absolutely wonderful time staying in this beautifully appointed 2 bedroom Condo with ocean view. The owner of the condo was so accommodating and provided us with all the information we needed to make the best of our stay. The condo was super comfortable and spacious and very conveniently located near many beautiful beaches, shopping and delicious restaurants. I have told many friends about this condo and will definitely book it the next time I am in Maui. You can't beat this place for comfort, convenience, location and pure relaxation!

Still The Best Condo In Maui!

This is the third time we have enjoyed your accommodations @ the Island Surf! Each time we love it a little bit more. This time my co-worker joined us and we are still talking about what a great stay it was, so that’s why I remembered that I should let Dorli know how much we are still enjoying her place! We even went out with the private boat this time, that Dorli arranges. Wow, the closeness of the whales is something I will never forget. Next time we will try a trip in summer and follow the dolphins out. I can’t wait! We like the new beds in the guestroom and the kitchen is great too. It has everything we could possibly need and then some. (From storage containers to spices and even a juicer!) But we lazy (or should I say relaxed) people stuck with our ready-made smoothies instead, which you can get downstairs, fresh and organic. We love sitting on the lanai in the early mornings to watch the coast and beach come alive. Or the ‘love birds’, (they always come in pairs) that sit on the railing to enjoy the same views we are. These memories will stay with me with tons of pictures I took, until our budget allows us to come back! Many thanks from my husband, my coworker and me for all you do, Dorli. Your condo is great, clean, friendly and so conveniently located. (Not to mention the best views anybody could wish for.) But your service, for everything we've ever asked of you, is priceless and even though we have never met I feel like we know you.

My husband, our three teenage boys, and I spent a wonderful vacation in this condominium. The owner was especially helpful with directions, sightseeing and other information, which was greatly appreciated. The condo was beautiful, and my husband and I felt pampered by the large, wonderful master suite with gorgeous bathroom. The floor to ceiling windows in the front and huge lanai were a big plus. We enjoyed our morning coffee watching the surfers and paddle boarders, and we relaxed each evening watching the sunset there as well. There was a closet full of beach toys, chairs, snorkel gear, umbrellas, and boogie boards, too! I could go on and on... The condo is centrally located with a great park and beach right across the street. We would love to return and spend more time in this wonderful condominium, and I would recommend this property to friends and relatives. Overall, it was a winner!

Great condo away from crowds in local setting

I spent 9 days with my family in late April at Dorli's condo. This was my first time renting from VRBO so I was a bit nervous but everything went completely smooth and Dorli was very accommodating and responsive to all my inquiries. This was my first time in S. Kihei as well (I had only been to Lahaina's tourist area previously) so I was surprised by the local feel when we arrived at the condo but we completely fell in love with the location! It is centrally located, not far from the 'Shops at Wailea' (5 min drive) and even the tourist areas like Lahaina downtown and Whalers Village are only a 30 min drive away. We loved the condo itself, everything was really clean and well stocked - there were even Tupperwares for our PB&J sandwiches to bring to the beach! Having breakfast on the balcony the view was amazing! Having a washer & dryer in the unit was another life saver, especially with a 2-year old. We loved the shops and restaurants around the corner and found our favorite breakfast spot there as well. I would definitely recommend this condo and working with Dorli was a great pleasure. My wife and I reserved this condo in September for a week in March. Due to family issues, we had to cancel our reservation in February after we had paid for the condo in full. Dorli was very helpful and understanding and said that if she was able to rent it to someone else, she would refund a portion of our payment, even though by contract she could have retained all of it. The night that we called her, she advertised the availability on 8 different sites and rented it out the next day! She refunded almost all of our payment the same day. Thanks, Dorli! It is so nice to do business with people who care! We will definitely be back!

Spectacular View

Our family spent 2 weeks including Valentines day in paradise. This condo was everything Dorli said it was...Spectacular views and easy access to great beaches and shopping. The unit itself was clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds and a great new shower in the master bath! It was nice to see photos of the condo that matched the appearance, not something that was taken 20 years ago! Dorli was helpful in arranging a great car rental rate and pre-arranged parking passes. We have highly recommended this place to our friends and look forward to our next trip...

We had a wonderful experience in this condo. Dorli is amazing to work with and was very helpful the whole step of the way. The condo is stocked with everything one would need for an enjoyable stay. Just down the road at Charlie Young beach we did see the turtles while snorkeling and the instructions on how to find them is in the binder of information. If you shop at food mart give them your cell number and they will give you a card for 10% discount which is handy as it is just a block away.

We were so pleased by our stay at Dorli's beatiful Island Surf condo. The condo is awesome, the location is great (centrally located - you can easily get to many locations around the island from Kihei), and the view is outstanding! Dorli was so kind and professional from beginning to end. She provided so many wonderful tips and plenty of great information about restaurants, shopping, snorkeling and even turtle sighting in the Kihei area! The condo was so well appointed and had everything that we needed for a very comfortable stay, from a fully stocked kitchen (we ate many meals in) to TONS of gear to make the beach and snorkeling easy and fun (beach towels, coolers, noodles, snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrella, etc. etc!) Mahalo, Dorli, for making our Maui stay such a fantastic one... we can't wait to stay in your condo again!

Great Condo Value!

The place was very clean, and the things inside were nicely kept up. The decorations and furnishings were wonderful! Again, let me thank you for the closet full of beach gear. I don't know what we would have done without that since we used it nearly every day. I especially enjoyed watching the surf and paddle board lessons going on in the water right in front of us. Sitting on either lanai was pure joy, and something we all did both mornings and evenings daily. As with many condos in the area, the air conditioning is set on a two-hour timer, so that is something for people to be aware of ahead of time. Dorli provides several fans for cooling, as well. While we were on Maui we went parasailing with UFO, and that was a ton of fun! We also went out to Molokini with Four Winds II, but it was so crowded in the water that it wasn't worth the price (there were several boats there at the time). The boat experience was really good, though - great crew and food. The snorkeling was awesome at Honolua Bay, and we went there twice. We also loved snorkeling in the Makena area, and got to see several turtles (my personal thrill!). I took your advice and went on long morning walks along the beaches. Having Kam I, II and III right there was amazing! Two mornings I walked all the way to Wailea and could have gone farther if I had brought more water along. We drove all the way up to the Olivine Pools and even went swimming in them (mentioned in Maui Revealed - great guide book). We enjoyed a couple of breakfasts at the Kehei Cafe, which had such a fun atmosphere and wonderful food. One of the highlights of the trip was a sunrise at Haleakala Crater - wow, what an experience! Getting up at 2:30 am was really hard, but seeing that amazing sky with all of that color in super clear air was totally worth it.

We are back home and had an absolutely wonderful time in Maui. Your condo was perfect, we were sad to leave it. We would book with you again and certainly recommend your place to others. That neighborhood is a great location - especially when families are travelling with different age groups and there are different interests. Everything is available within a short distance and we took advantage of much of it. The building is very well maintained which we appreciated. Aloha Dorli: Thank you so much for renting us your condo. It worked perfectly for our size of family. Great location and great weather. Awesome restaurants and wonderful excursions. We did everything that we wanted to get done and then some. The people that we met guided us well and you were very thorough of where things were and how they worked. Shopping was fun!! So many whales!!!! Amazing helicopter scenery by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters! Road to Hana - absolutely beautiful. Great Luau at Lahaina. Amazing snorkeling at the Molokini Crater. The whales put on an extravagant show for us on our way to snorkeling. I absolutely loved having the washer and dryer in the condo. We met some wonderful people especially the local businesses below us. Mahalo - Beamish Family

Great stay in Kehei at Island Surf

Great place to say with kids. The condo is spaceous and has everything you need. Wonderful ocean front views. Sat out on the lanai every morning with our coffee and banana bread...so relaxing. TV's in every room so no fights there. Very confortable beds...even the hide-a-bed and the condo was large enough to not have to put the bed away every day. And the owner is wonderful and very attentive to our needs. And best of all, the price was right. I'd stay there again.

Magical trip of a lifetime

We loved this place; kitchen, laundry, 2 full baths, and dining both indoors and out and on the double balcony. My morning runs along the beaches were heavenly, I barely noticed the 10+ miles under my feet. No headphones necessary - the beauty was enough to pass the miles away. The room toys were fantastic for the kids, and the cooler indispensible. No one should go to Hawaii without daily access to a washer/drying and drying rack. There was not a day that we did not snorkel, hike or swim. A nice refreshing shave ice from the craft place across from Long's drug (great fruit at the fruit stand too currently opened all week) or a chilled coconut to drink from the fruit stand near ABC was wonderful after a warm day (it is better chilled if you can get it – Mon – Fri until 4P). Don't miss Hana - the driving is not as bad as they say. The Snorkel Bob CD in the room and Maui Revealed book seriously enhanced the trip. Leave by 7A and plan the day carefully. The Adam and Eve garden is beautiful but will slow you down (might be better on a separate day). We saw the rainbow eucalyptus, saw waterfalls – most right off the highway, explored a huge lava tube with only a flashlight to light your way and then within 2 miles visited the black sand beach. If you do go to the black sand beach, don't miss the caves. You can jump in the second one...it is a bit chilly, but definitely worth the jump. Don’t miss exploring the cave while you are down there. We also made the trek to the Seven Sacred Pools. The driving is a bit tighter there, but definitely worth the trip. We went to Hana twice. The banana bread at the first place off to the left was the best (have to get some on your way to Hana). There are many good beaches nearby the condo for body surfing. If you want to try some serious body surfing (not for little kids), try Big Beach. That sand feels like no other on your feet. Kam III and Honolua were so rich with turtle and fish making the trip to Molokini unnecessary. Less people, less costly unless you like the boat ride...then go for it. This is just the tip of the iceberg....Maui is so wonderful. We made friends with many local fruit stand owners with fruit that put the grocery stores to shame...Try papaya with passion fruit and a squirt of lime...yummmmmmm!!! We will definitely be back and if this unit is available, we would love to stay here again. Mahalo for making our trip so magical!!!!

Perfect place to stay!!

We LOVED this place. It was even better than described. The condo was very clean and decorated beautifully. The owner was VERY helpful with the rental process and anything else we needed. This was our first time coming to Maui and I thought the condo was in the perfect spot for new tourists. Shopping, restaurants and the beach were within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone and will definitely stay here again when I come back to Maui!

Dorli: Thank you so much for letting us use your condo for our stay on Maui. We really had a great time. The room was clean, comfortable, and the kitchen was well supplied. The water/recreation equipment you provided was an unexpected plus. Everything we needed was there.The location of your condo was very convenient and was within walking distance of shopping, swimming, and dining. We had coffee and breakfast every morning out on the lanai while watching the surfers, and even managed to BBQ some steaks a couple of nights for dinner and enjoyed every bite while sitting on the lanai and enjoying such a wonderful view. The beach was close so we took a walk every morning and enjoyed the sunsets in the evening. The information you supplied us with before our trip made our stay much more enjoyable. Thanks again,you are definetly on our list when we return to Maui, we will be back!

Thank you Dorli for such a great place to stay. The rooms were comfortable, and you provided a lot of recreation equipment. Everything we needed was there.The location of your condo is the height of convenience. We were in walking distance of shopping, diving, swimming, and dining. Early morning coffee on the lanai was followed by a quick walk out the door to the beach. We watched the large outrigger canoes race from the balcony. No doubt about it, we will be back!

Dorli provides outstanding service! We stayed for 3 weeks at the lovely condo in February, 2010... it was exactly as advertised, very well equipped, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. We could walk easily to at least 20 restaurants, as well as the Foodland supermarket and drug store. We had a wonderful vacation in paradise!

we had a wonderful time in Maui and couldn't believe how well stocked the kitchen was; I think you have more pots, pans, utensils, etc. than we have in our home! our 4 yo granddaughter was happy to have the beach toys to play with and she also loved using the "noodles". the layout of your unit is great and the double lanai was well used (and we also watered the plants daily as requested!). the location was so convenient to everything, we didn't have to use the rental car every day. also, Dorli was very prompt in refunding our deposit in full, which was greatly appreciated!

Thanks to Dorli we were completely set up for our stay in Kihei,Maui. She went above and beyond the service we have come to expect when renting. The location is fantastic. Across the street from the water, a block from great food (Pita Paradise and Kihei Cafe, to name a few). The condo itself is so well facilitated you won't need anything. If you do the grocery store is 2 blocks away. The condo was clean and well decorated. The property was above average. For those wanting activities, this location couldn't be any better. From surfing school to catamaran rentals to lava fields and restaurants this place is primo. Two things that were small nuisances were the side street outside got fairly noisy early in the morning. But, with the sliding doos shut it wasn't that noticeable. And there's a policy of only running the ac for an hour at a time. Normally I suppose this wouldn't be a problem, but we hit Maui during a heat wave 90+ and the rooms took a while to cool down. This said we still give Dorli's condo 5 stars and will definitely stay there agian on our next trip there Thanks Dorli for letting us stay at your place. Your customer service was greatly appreciated.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Wanted to let people know that renting from Dorli was an absolute pleasure. This is an owner who cares about her property and it shows! This was a fabulous condo with an amazing view. Clean and neat, very well equipped! The beds were comfortable ... plenty of towels and soft and comfy sheets. All the kitchen "stuff" we needed. We ate in quite a bit and we spent most of our time sunning on the beach and swimming with sea turtles! Grocery store is close, also many terrific restaurant choices -- from inexpensive to big $$$ We certainly couldn't ask for anything more ... Be prepared for beautiful sunsets from the patio. Rent this condo from Dorli ... you will not be disappointed.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dorli, Your condo was the perfect place for us to stay in Maui. It was in a great location with lots of nearby places (restaraunts, food shopping, beaches, etc.) to pick up things that we needed. Alan liked that it was in a lesser populated area than Lahania and the view of the ocean from the deck was wonderful. We felt very comfortable in the condo and will definitely stay there again when we go back to Maui! We really appreciated the information that you sent to us prior to the trip and used the information from the guest book in the condo for our road trip to Hana. The descriptions in your book were very helpful so we didn't miss anything! We even made it to the red beach in Hana and loved it! Dorli: Thanks for having one of the nicest places to stay on Maui. Just as advertised you provided everything we needed and more. We rented snorkel equipment and didn't even realize you had two sets in the activity closet. The accommodations were great. Everything we did was practically within walking distance. Great shops, restaurants and great bars! The view was unbelievable. We watched several sunsets from the lanai. Can wait to come back. We are already looking to go next year and we will be staying at your condo if it is available. Mahalo!

Dorli, We had a great time and really enjoyed the condo. Our son who lives there his favorite place for breakfast is Kihei Cafe. We went with him several times the first time we were in Maui so it was fun being so close to it this time. We enjoyed being on vacation with our middle son, his wife and baby as well as getting to be with our youngest who lives there. I do have one question. Do you know what make, brand or type the king bed is in the master bedroom? It was one of the most comfortable beds Mack and I have ever slept on. What a treat. We very much enjoyed our stay in Unit 609 very much. We found the unit to be as advertised. It was well organized,clean, and comfortable. The amenities of the unit were numerous especially the high speed computer access, air conditioning, and number of Maui oriented publications we found on the dining table. We enjoyed the view of the ocean from the lanai.

Thank you. What a beautiful condo. Clean and modern and beautifully decorated. My husband and I and our 2 children had a blast. Watched the surfers from your balcony, walked to the beach and restaurants. We especially appreciated the layout of the unit. Finally a family vacation with some privacy for me and my husband. Aloha everyubody! This unit is absolutely incredible. It has spectacular ocean views from every where in the condo. When we stepped inside, my wife, (also in her 50's) started jumping up and down, she was just so happy that I found such a wonderful Unit. Everything was very well done. Decoration nice, furniture beautiful, beds very, very comfy, even my 2 adult sons where happy to be able to come and go anytime. (Seperate door is great,they said and night live too! All in walking distance) The beach is wonderfuy and we saw turtles many times. we spent almost every evening watching the beautiful sunsets on the lanai. We loved walking to all the wonderful restaurants. And my wife's favorite was the flea market 1 block up, she bought ALL the Christmas presents for the family back home and nothing was more then $25 ea.) She is a bargain shopper and this was a perfect place for her. I loved the Kona coffe house right there and just hung out with great Hawaiian music. It was a fabulous vacation, thanks to your wonderful condo. And everybody is sooo friendly here in the condo! Your service was super! WE WILL BE BACK! Mahalo, The Weber family

The view of the ocean from the lanai was spectacular and it was very convenient to grocery stores, shops, restaurants and a great swimming beach (Charly Young beach). WOW, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH NICE THINGS ABOUT DORLI! HER PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING WERE EXCEPTIONAL. WE WERE SAD TO SAY THAT DUE TO ATA AIRLINES GOING UNDER WE WERE FORCED TO CANCEL OUR TRIP. Hello Dorli, I wanted to leave a positive comment for the wonderful service that you provide. We stayed at the Condo in the 3rd week of April. The Condo was clean and really well kept. Everything was working and was as described. The place is very near to the Kihei Market place which was an added advantage, so you can just walk and have some dinner. It was really a pleasure to stay at the condo. Dorli was prompt in refunding our deposit too, which was really nice. Please keep up the good service and the condo. We stayed at Island Surf the first week of April. When we walked into the condo, we were pleasantly surprised. It was clean and well kept. The furnishings reaffirmed that we were in Hawaii. The view was spectacular. We could sit on the lanai and watch surfers and rowers playing in the surf. The condo was right in the hub of so much. We were just a half a block from restaurants and shopping. Kalama Park was across street and it was just a short walk to Charlie Young Beach. If we got to do it all over again, we would definitely stay here. Kihei is fortunate to have the vacation rentals at Island Surf. Loren and Marge Van Tress

Our stay at the Island Surf #514 was wonderful. The apartment is clean, comfortable, with a great view and is graciously stocked with beach equipment, kitchen amenities and a brand new play yard. Being right across the street from Kalama park (and a short walk from Charlie Young Beach) was a Godsend for us as our 18 month old loves being outside and playing with the local kids. Everything you need (including nightlife) is within a short walk. We would definitely recommend this vacation rental and hopefully will be able to return again ourselves!

We enjoyed a great stay at the two bedroom unit at the Island Surf. I was worried it was too noisy for me the first night, was woken up by the street noise and people out. Realized we needed to cool off the condo and then shut it up at night with a fan on and then it was no problem sleeping. Very comfortable beds, bright and sunny condo. Nicely furnished, with a well stocked kitchen. Great location in Kihei. Wake up to a beautiful view. Enjoyed watching the surfers. Loved walking to dinner and going out at night without driving. I would recommend this condo.

We enjoyed the nice condo, like a home away from home. Enjoyed the GREAT view breakfast and dinner on the lanai every day. Found the place very confortable, with lots of amenities. I would highly recommend this place if you want a clean extremely well equiped cute condo with a BEAUTIFUL view. The owner is wonderful to work with! I felt like I was staying at a friend's condo. The location is centrally located. You have tourist things to do. Yet, you can also enjoy the locals. We snorkeled daily at all the beaches. The mornings are magical on the lanai. This was my favorite family vacation yet. A million thanks Dorli.

The view is fantastic!!! We had our coffee outside every morning, and could watch the sunset from the patio. The condo was fully equipped and EXTRA CLEAN!!! Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We had a GREAT TIME!

To say the least our visit to Maui was an earth shaking experience. Most people ride waves, very few can say they rode a 6.6 quake while visiting such a wonderful place. Your condo was the perfect place for us to stay, the location was central to all other parts of the island and very convenient to all needed amenities. And, it was right at the beaches and parks for most Maui activities. The Kihei Cafe a block away has the best breakfasts on the island. Your attention to making sure the Condo had everything someone needs for day to day requirements was fantastic, including the wonderful decor and furnishings. Thanks to you our visit was not only memorable but a very, very comfortable one.
