  My family and I had so much fun New Years Eve weekend. The hot tub was wonderful to sit in and watch the stars. We have rented beach houses for this weekend before but this has been our favorite. We will be back.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  This was our first trip to Surfside (we are normally Galveston beach-goers), but it will not be our last. The house is just beautiful and the owner is a pleasure to work with. We had a March birthday weekend for family and everyone from teenagers to senior citizens had a wonderful time. The weather cooperated beautifully and the views from the deck were amazing. Good thing we brought lots of sunscreen because it was hard to pry anyone from the deck or the beach - we hardly spent any time inside except to sleep! The house is decorated very nicely, is super clean and has everything you would need already there. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would not hesitate to rent this property again in the future.

  Had a great time at the Starfish! Home was equipped with everything you need, great front-row location and very spacious. Owner is very easy to work with. The hot tub topped it all off and was perfect at night under the stars.

  The house was so great. The 4 grandkids ages 5-9 had a wonderful time. It is just as described but so much better. We had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Galen was so easy to work with any problems. After booking the original dates, I realized there was a conflict and he fixed it and let us reserve different dates. My son was using a butane cooker on the deck for a shrimp boil and two of the boards got on fire. Galen handled the situation in a very professional manner and was so prompt on getting someone over to see about getting the boards replaced. We were so thankful that it was only two boards and no one was injured and that someone was there when it happened and immediate put the flame out. And believe we will never using the cooker except on the ground again. The hot tub was so great and we loved having it to relax in. We could never figure out to get to heat the water but being July in Texas-it was not cold and it was refreshing to just sit and relax. The kids loved it as well. The water is not good to drink so you must bring/buy your own water and ice. I thought this would be a pain but really was no big deal. There is a small store close by that has fairly good prices on anything you might need that you forgot or need. The beach area is quiet and the all kids big and little enjoyed it. It was not crowded even being a holiday week. It is well patrolled by the local police and there was no problem with cars going up and down it fast. There is a massive collection of DVD to suit everyone's taste. There are games to play but with all the gadgets kids have today-no one played them. There is plenty of dishes and all the cooking utensils we needed. There are plenty of towels and having the washer and dryer was great. We kept them washed up and had the last load in the dryer the morning we left. This is a great beach house. This is the second year we have rented a beach house for us and our two kids and their spouses and four grandkids. We had total of 6 adults and 4 kids and there was plenty of room. We all loved this one much better than the one last year and the beach area as well. If you are looking for a great get away from the everyday busy life and need a place to just go relax, I recommend this house to you-you will enjoy it and want to go back again.   Owner response: Surfide is such an undiscovered treasure, and our house is right on the beach, with all the comforts of home, unfortunately we had to remove the hot tub because of maintenance and cleaning issues.

  This house is terrific! These pictures (although nice) do not do it justice. Everything is so well thought out and accommodating! Quality from wall to wall and huge house! We had a party for my son's 30th birthday and it was just so nice! The hosts are wonderful to work with as well. Loved it, loved it! Thanks to Galen for the Texas hospitality.

  The house was beautiful and location was perfect! Everything was just as pictured and stated in the literature about the house. The owner was very helpful and friendly. He answered all my questions and was very prompt in doing so. My family had a great time, it was relaxing and comfortable. The view was the best of any place I ever stayed. I would recommend it to anyone and plan to go there again on our next visit to the coast!

  The house was perfect, and much nicer than we expected. We had plenty of space to have a great shrimp boil and homemade baked-goods. The beach area itself is very clean and peaceful in February. We enjoyed the sound of the surf and the bright stars from the cozy hot tub. Our twin toddlers were very happy with the child-sized table and chairs and all the safe space to explore inside the house. Most of the comments on our vacation pictures have been about the "great house"- we can't wait to stay again!

  THANK YOU ! MY HUSBAND WORKS IN IRAQ IN SUPPORT OF THE US TROOPS. HE COMES HOME ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR 3 WEEKS. HE WANTED TO FIND SOME WHERE WE COULD SPEND TIME ALONE AND RECONNECT. WELL THIS WAS THE PERFECT PLACE. IT WAS A WONDERFUL WEEK. THE HOUSE IS AWESOME. THE OWNER HAS PUT TOGETHER THE PERFECT BEACH RENTAL. VERY RELAXING. BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED.THE HOT TUB IS A BONUS. WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE. WE FELT LIKE IT WAS OUR OWN HOME.
