This house is terrific! These pictures (although nice) do not do it justice. Everything is so well thought out and accommodating! Quality from wall to wall and huge house! We had a party for my son's 30th birthday and it was just so nice! The hosts are wonderful to work with as well. Loved it, loved it! Thanks to Galen for the Texas hospitality.

The house was beautiful and location was perfect! Everything was just as pictured and stated in the literature about the house. The owner was very helpful and friendly. He answered all my questions and was very prompt in doing so. My family had a great time, it was relaxing and comfortable. The view was the best of any place I ever stayed. I would recommend it to anyone and plan to go there again on our next visit to the coast!

Fun & Cozt Winter Getaway

The house was perfect, and much nicer than we expected. We had plenty of space to have a great shrimp boil and homemade baked-goods. The beach area itself is very clean and peaceful in February. We enjoyed the sound of the surf and the bright stars from the cozy hot tub. Our twin toddlers were very happy with the child-sized table and chairs and all the safe space to explore inside the house. Most of the comments on our vacation pictures have been about the "great house"- we can't wait to stay again!

Turkey at the beach

We wanted to go away but did not want to travel and mess with traffic or airports. So one hour drive out of Houston and we were at Starfish House.. It was just as advertised. RIGHT ON THE BEACH! The hot tub was wonderful and the house spotless. We had turkey for 11 - all at one table - and dessert on the deck and a lovely walk on the beach to work it all off. The kitchen was perfectly equipped - I brought my own crock pot and the house had one!! The washer and dryer was great to have - didn"t think we would use it for 3 nights - but we did as it was so handly and even a window in the laundry room - who knew! Galen was lovely to work with. If you want to get away and be away - this is the spot. Bring food and drink and relax!!

THANK YOU ! MY HUSBAND WORKS IN IRAQ IN SUPPORT OF THE US TROOPS. HE COMES HOME ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR 3 WEEKS. HE WANTED TO FIND SOME WHERE WE COULD SPEND TIME ALONE AND RECONNECT. WELL THIS WAS THE PERFECT PLACE. IT WAS A WONDERFUL WEEK. THE HOUSE IS AWESOME. THE OWNER HAS PUT TOGETHER THE PERFECT BEACH RENTAL. VERY RELAXING. BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED.THE HOT TUB IS A BONUS. WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE. WE FELT LIKE IT WAS OUR OWN HOME.

Sisters getaway

What a wonderful place to spend a few days in peace. This home is beautiful and located in a nice quiet area. My sister and I spent lots of time walking the beach and lounging on the deck. Sunrises were amazing. The only draw back was the hot tub wasn't working and this was one of the reasons we chose this home. But we were given a free night on a return trip and Galen is awesome to work with. We can't wait to come back and bring our other sister! D. Allbright & D. Keyes

We rented this beach house for my husband's birthday. The house is awesome and we had a great time! The hot tub in the evenings out on the deck with the cool breeze, cooking out, beautiful view...I could go on and on. It was like having our own private beach! The house had everything....more than we expected or hoped for. We will absolutely be back next year for his next birthday. It was so nice and gave us a WONDERFUL escape from reality for a while! Didn't want to go home....it was actually sad when it was time to go! Just absolutely awesome!

The Starfish is a beautiful get-away with unobstructed views of the fantastic Gulf water, wonderful sunrises and sunsets, with Pelican fly-bys directly overhead very common. With colder weather around the corner, a steaming Hot Tub right out front up on the deck just makes it all the better!

This was the best house I have ever rented! It lacked nothing. The robes were a nice touch. The location was fantastic...it was like we had our own private beach. The hot tub on the deck was perfect...especially nice at night under the stars. I can't wait to return!

Unbelievable Weekend!!

What a great place! We stayed over a long weekend and our two sons and their families came down for a visit. The hot tub on the deck was wonderful and just the thing after long walks on the beach. The kitchen is much nicer (unfortunately) than ours at home and my wife and I enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the family. (Unfortunately because now my wife wants to upgrade ours!) The extra refrigerator was great for all the drinks and lets you keep food in the other. Everything you need is provided and is as clean as your mother would want!!!! We couldn't think of a thing we would add - it was really beautiful!! We had a wonderful family weekend together and look forward to staying here again next year.

This house is amazing!! My husband is very picky and he was impressed and loved our stay. I would highly recommend it.. The weather was not so great so we didn't really get to explore many other areas. We will return!!!

Great House Great Host Great Fishing

We only had a few days to enjoy this immaculate home on the Gulf Coast but the location and the accomodations helped us make the most of every moment. Our host was so gracious attending to every detail. He even provided a fishing rod. If you decide to stay here you will not regret it.

Why go to Galveston or Port Aransas???

My husband, one of our dogs, and myself stayed at the Starfish during the first week of March. Sure it was chilly and not a whole lot of swimming was had, but we had a fabulous vacation. First the house, it has all the amenities that you can desire, high end touches, upscale appliances, lovely granite counters in the kitchen, and more seating than we needed in the living room, but great for large groups. The children's bunk room had lovely touches such as chalk boards, a tiny TV, and little stuffed whales on the bed (we had to move these to the top bunk, so that our child--a border-collie mix, did not think it was for her). Every morning, my husband delighted in taking our Ellie for a bird and wave chase in which he collected shells and rosy-pink barnacle conglomerates that washed ashore. At night, my husband and I enjoyed soaking in the hot tub, whilst looking at the stars and listening to the breakers. I almost hate posting how great this place, since it will likely be more competitive for our next booking. However, everyone should have the pleasure of staying at the Starfish. Tips: Surfside Beach is essentially an island; and the water is quite chlorinated, so you will want to bring a lot of bottled water for drinking and cooking. Otherwise, you will be purchasing a gallon or two everyday at the friendly Valero. Great bayou-like food and seafood can be had in Freeport at Baytown Seafood. My hubby had the specials: frog legs and fresh crawfish; I had oysters and shrimp... they were durn near close to the ones I grew up on in Panama City Florida (Apalachicola oysters are some of the best. Thank goodness that Hurricane Ike spared this house in 2008. We will certainly be back! Have Fun!

As much fun as it is in the Summer, we too have had some of our best beach moments during the off season when it's not as people populated and more bird and nature friendly, sitting in the Hot Tub hearing only the sound of the waves and the calls of the Gulls as they display their acrobatic abilities. These memories will last a lifetime.

My family and I had so much fun New Years Eve weekend. The hot tub was wonderful to sit in and watch the stars. We have rented beach houses for this weekend before but this has been our favorite. We will be back.
