Located one mile from the entrance to Hunting Island State Park, our units at Cedar Reef Villas are decorated in a soothing, tropical style. They feature one bedroom (one-and-one-half baths) with a deck off the living room and one off the master bedroom, which was recently refitted with a king-size bed. All bed linens and towels are provided. The living room sofa converts to a queen-sized bed. Unit sleeps a total of 4. Our 2BR unit sleeps 7.
Here is a typical comment from our guest book, "Staying in this wonderful Harbor Island Villa made our visit perfect. John and Renee have thought of everything to make this a relaxing and memorable stay."
The kitchen is equipped with a new stove and oven for the gourmet chef-wannabe in your family. Stop at Publix on your way out of Beaufort. It is on the left after you cross Lady's Island bridge over the intercostal waterway after you go through downtown Beaufort on Route 21. Or, stop at Gay's Seafood (right) before you cross the Harbor River Bridge across from the famous (featured in Coastal Living) Shrimp Shack.
This is a great unit for families with children because you can see your children at the pool from the deck. Take 20 steps across the grass and you are at the pool. A five-minute walk takes you to the exercise center in the lower level of the Beach Cabana Club. The club property features an large pool with four tennis courts. A putting green is nearby.
*** ABOUT THE AREA ***
Harbor Island is the island right before you reach Hunting Island State Park. It is part of the 350,000-acre ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve (ACE Basin NERR), created and managed by the Marine Resources Division of South Carolina.
The ACE Basin Refuge lies along the Atlantic Flyway - the 'bird highway in the sky.' Numerous waterfowl, shore birds, neo-tropical songbirds and birds of prey migrate from their nesting grounds to wintering areas throughout eastern North America.
At certain times of the year, you will share the ocean water with glowing green phosphorescent plankton or loggerhead sea turtles. (Do not forget to Help Save Our Turtles - lights off on the beach at night between May 1 and September 1.) A sighting of a leatherback turtle, the largest living turtle species, occurred last year on Hunting Island, the next island over.
If you are interested in fishing - the 1120-foot, former Paradise Pier is now part of Hunting Island State Park, the last island boundary in the ACE Basin chain.
Speaking of Hunting Island, we would be remiss if we did not mention the historic Hunting Island lighthouse that was in operation until 1933. Originally constructed in 1859 and rebuilt in 1875 after the Civil War, 167 steps and 50 cents will take you to the top for a fabulous view. It is only two miles away.
Time to go out on the town? Beaufort provides a delightful backdrop. First inhabited by native Americans and then the Spanish in the 1500s, historical areas are every where. Antebellum homes from before the Civil War border the waterfront as do great restaurants and a small park and marina. Beaufort also hosts a thriving artists community and it is only 14 miles away! A hour or so drive will take you to Savannah or Charleston, beautiful southern cities that make great day trips.

What a wonderful place to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! It was quiet, cozy, and exceptionally clean. The weather was chilly but, beautiful. My husband was able to catch fish on the beach, we were able to relax, and visit friends. The sunrise was gorgeous and just being able to walk a few steps to the beach was great. Beaufort is so charming. There is great shopping, sight-seeing, fishing, and a ton of great places to eat. and We are definitely going back. I can't wait. ^..^Did you find this review helpful? This was a great spot to relax. We had all the comforts and then the beach! I especially liked that the pool was only across from our deck, or if we wanted to be on the beach, it was only a few yards away. We had a great stay, Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful visit at Harbor Island! The condo was perfect for our family. We ate a nice dinner in every evening and the wireless internet was a great perk! Distance to pool and beach was perfect. Our girls had the best time on the beach and exploring Hunting State Park. The highlight of our 4 yr old was catching a baby shark off the peir! We enjoyed our stay very much and will be back again in the future. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

"Our stay at John & Renee's Harbor Island rental (E - 103) was seamless very pleasant and relaxing. The unit is attractive, well-equipped, comfortable and easy to maintain. The complex is friendly and rich with birds! There are many activities to pursue and it's a great place to just do'nothing.'............And, it's still a quiet area, too! I just wanted you to know that we had a fantastic time this weekend. The place was great and totally fit the bill for a much needed weekend of relaxation and down time that I have not experienced in quite a while. My children of course were most impressed with the pool but were amazed at all the hermit crabs. We spent several hours on the beach and quite often were the only ones around. I will definitely choose this same area to get away in the future. We arrived late Friday night but still managed to see many deer and a racoon. We also saw an alligator, lots of crabs, and porpoises. It was a wonderful experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Hi Renee, We just wanted to follow up with you and let you know we very much enjoyed our stay last week (6/3 - 6/10) at your Harbor Island, Cedar Reef Villa E-103. The condo was great!! Very neat/clean and well equipped for our stay. Everything worked fine. The close proximity to the pool, beach and showers were especially convenient and enjoyed very much by the 3 of us (especially 4 year old Nicholas). We also had terrific weather the entire week. We will keep you in mind for future visits to Harbor Isle. Thanks!! Steve, Valerie, Nicholas NorenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Renee and John, thanks so much for the restful vacation at your SC condo. We loved the being so close to the beach. We saw egrets, crabs, dolphins, and experienced a oneness with nature. We slept wonderfully in your king-sized bed. We'll be back soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
