Centrally located in the heart of Sonoma County wine country, this 7-acre, gated Estate has everything you can imagine to make for a fabulous Vacation experience and is nestled on a hillside in the western Sonoma Foothills. On a secluded private lane, just past the Schlumberger Art Gallery (by appointment only), this craftsman-inspired, single-level home was rebuilt from the foundation up with meticulous attention to detail. Completed in 2003, this fabulous retreat presents a rare opportunity to enjoy a Sonoma County Wine Country holiday in unparalleled style, grace, comfort, and rustic elegance.
Indoor Luxury
This stunning home has 10’ ceilings throughout and is perfect for quiet enjoyment and entertaining. The sleeping and living spaces are on opposite sides of the house, so your early birds and night owls won’t disturb each other.
Great Room’s Living Areas
The great room’s gourmet kitchen is a chef’s delight with granite counter-tops, a large stooled island, custom cherry underlit cabinets, a Sub-Zero ‘fridge/freezer, and an imported Swedish Aga 4-oven stove with two iron and two standard gas burners on the cooktop. A wall-mounted spigot over the stove adds convenience for filling large pots. Additional kitchen amenities include two dishwashers; KitchenAid Professional mixer; coffee maker; and all the necessary pots, pans, dishes, and flatware for gourmet cooking and dining.
The dining area features a table for 10 with upholstered chairs and a wet bar. Just off the dining area, a set of double doors leads to the back deck with a large gas barbeque grill and a table for six.
The formal living room has a grand player piano for your entertainment pleasure, ample seating, beautiful artwork, a wrought-iron chandelier, and five large bay windows with forever views.
The den/media room has a river rock fireplace and a media center with a 50” Samsung HD TV, DISH network, a Samsung Blu-ray player, and a Yamaha surround sound amplifier which drives not only the sound system in this room, but also controls speakers throughout the house. A wall of windows lights up the room, which also includes a convertible queen bed, making it a lovely, private 5th guest room/sleeping area.
Sleeping Accommodations
The master suite has a sumptuous, king bed with a curtained, 4-poster, iron frame; a built-in entertainment center with a 40” HD LCD TV and DISH network; and large windows with spectacular views. The ensuite bath features dual sink vanities and a raised, extra large, soaking tub with views of the hills and valley below. Not to be outdone, the extra-large, tiled shower has three showerheads—two wall-style and a rainforest head on the ceiling—and another window to make the room light and airy.
Tucked into this hallway are a 4-person, round table with fold down leaves, for quiet breakfasting or a game of cards, and the indoor laundry room complete with a Maytag front-loading washer and dryer and a deep, porcelain sink.
Bedroom two has a wood-framed queen bed with a dresser, bookcase, and workstation. This bedroom also has a lovely Tiffany-style ceiling light, and double windows facing the front entry porch. Directly across the hall is a shared bath with a tile vanity, copper sink, and slate-tiled shower.
Bedroom three has a king bed and use of a spectacular shared full bath with a beautiful tiled shower over tub combination. Bedroom four features a new queen bed and an ensuite bath with a slate-tiled shower.
Outdoor Splendor & Abundant Amenities
The back and side yards feature a fully fenced 20’x40’ in-ground pool with 6-person spa (less if you’re shy, more if you don’t mind being a bit cozy), a large flagstone patio, and a large covered entertaining area with fireplace, wood-fired pizza oven (for experienced chefs only), prep room, and half bath, also offering seating to watch players at the well-maintained Bocce ball court that overlooks the valley below and surrounding Sonoma foothills.
Enter this home through the covered entry and front porch which runs the full length of the entry side of the house and includes more seating for enjoying the outdoors. The property is deer-fenced; forested with oak, madrone, pine, and manzanita; and beautifully landscaped with roses, hydrangeas, butterfly bushes, devil’s tears, ornamental grasses and shrubs, and many more surprises.
A divine Vacation ‘home base’, Twin Pillar Estate is truly the ‘Grand Central Station’ for enjoying the many outstanding and exceptional adventures that Sonoma County Wine Country offers. Enjoy charming and historic Healdsburg, the ‘crown jewel’ of Wine Country and just 15 miles north via Highway 101, with its outstanding dining, shopping, Plaza surrounded by redwoods with many Plaza activities, and famed wine growing regions including the Dry Creek, Alexander, and Russian River Valleys, vineyards, and wineries.
Traveling east, you can explore Calistoga (13 miles), St. Helena (16 miles), the Silverado Wine Trail through the vineyards with more world class wineries, leads to the city of Sonoma (20 miles southeast), with the city of Napa just a little further (35 miles southeast). There are more wonderful adventures to be had by heading west, following the redwood tree-lined Russian River through Guerneville (22 miles) to the pristine Armstrong Redwoods State Park (25 miles), and continuing west, you will reach River’s end where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean (35 miles) on the beautiful and rugged Sonoma County Coastline.
Head north from here to Fort Ross State Park, a restored Russian fir trading post from the early 1800’s. More opportunities for adventures, fishing, and culture are to be had a relatively short drive south on the 101, through Santa Rosa to San Francisco, only 60 miles away, with museums, performing arts, the Fisherman’s Wharf, fine dining, and on and on.

We just wrapped up 3 amazing days at this gorgeous property. Everything about the stay was perfect -from the beautiful grounds and pool, to the comfortable and well appointed house, to the location. We have young children so particularly appreciated the gated pool that was slightly uphill from the main house (great for privacy and safety). The open floor plan allowed for a great gathering space. But let me tell you the outdoor spaces are heavenly with great views, a well maintained bocce court and and an outdoor kitchen. We have tried several different rental homes in the area and this was by far and away the best. Birdsong property management was also incredibly responsive and helpful before, throughout and after the stay. The only down side would be the very elegant AGA stove in the gourmet kitchen. If you have time to read the manuals on how to really maximize its use, it could be great but if you want to just slap something in the oven, you have to think a bit. that said, there are 2 great grills and an outdoor pizza oven so don't get too stressed...! Thanks for a great stay. we definitely want to come backRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
