Three Weeks in Paradise

Guest: MerryGirl (Hudson, Quebec)
Date of Stay: 01/25/12 Review Submitted: 02/17/12

My excursion-filled first week of vacation at Villa Luna Sea, visiting my daughter and granddaughter, was followed by two blissful weeks of total relaxation, reading by the ocean, and, yes, maybe, a little local rum! Peaceful sunrises were accompanied by coffee and best-seller books, whereas beautiful crimson and gold-shot skies in the evening heralded delicious meals prepared on the BBQ, with deep sleep induced by warm breezes and lapping waves on the shore. The astounding turquoise water drew constant gazes and merited many, many pictures as I tried to capture that amazing colour for posterity. Even in February, the water was wonderful for swimming and snorkeling. Everything was just as VRBO promised (and more), which was a pleasure in itself. We were instantly on a first-name basis with our helpful and friendly hosts, Jan and Rich, who have the knack of not only making you feel most welcome, but also as if you are long-time friends. They respect your privacy totally, yet are available for whatever help you may need. Villa Luna Sea is located on Turtle Tail, yet is only about 20 minutes (maximum) from anywhere you may wish to go on Provo. The feint-of-heart may wish to rent an SUV, but a regular sedan makes the ride to and from anywhere on any of the "improved" roads much more fun, if rather like a pin-ball game! All beaches on Provo are public access; you can visit many and never see another soul. There is as much to do as you want to do! Stay at 'home' or take the walk down to Dog Beach, five minutes by foot; or drive to Taylor Bay beach, Pelican beach at Leeward, or Long Bay beach; or snorkel and SNUBA at Coral Gardens. The only one bad thing about Luna Sea? Leaving it.

Absolute tranquility!!!

LunaSea would only be more perfect if I could live there forever! The peace and quiet was spiritually refreshing, listening to the lapping waves as you awake each morning. The most stunning clear blue water steps away from your door. I quite prefer peace and quiet as opposed to the resort pace. The beauty of LunaSea kept me there, happy as a clam, on their beach, the entire week. I was so captivated there, I found no need to look elsewhere on the island to spend my time. I doubt there was any other location that could compare. The privacy is unbelievable, not just the owners, but the private location. LunaSea feels as though you have your own private villa. There's no place like home, there's no place like LunaSea!

Best deal on the island

LunaSea fulfilled every wish and then some. It was perfect for us. We like to be away from the crowds and cook for ourselves. This property had everything we needed to do that. It was well thought out too. We had Jan and Rich nearby but felt all on our own at the same time. The view is to die for. Swimming and snorkeling right out front was great. We even saw an eel in front of the house next door! Great beach stuff is also provided so you only need to bring your own bathing suit and a snorkel mask. I would highly recommend LunaSea. We hope to go back again ourselves.

Luna Sea is the perfect getaway if you wish to have gracious hosts, Jan & Rich who are both informative and respect your privacy, a fabulous setting, and an inviting and comfortable apartment and patio with a beautiful ocean outside your back door. Our delightfully clean apartment was perfect for the two of us. Our hosts have thought of every detail to make vacationing there a very pleasant stay. The azure waters will beckon you to enjoy all that it has to offer. We enjoyed their snorkeling wall where we were able to see lobsters as well other beautiful fish. The listing is extremely accurate; the property is well maintained, extremely clean and inviting. Our host provided excellent customer service. We would greatly recommend these property .The attractions that we liked the most were enjoying snorkeling outside our door as well as relaxing at the various nearby beaches.

Paradise at Villa Luna Sea

Guest: Shama (Greenville, SC)
Date of Stay: 03/19/10 Review Submitted: 04/08/10

The listing regarding this location was accurate, as far as words and photos can describe. Our stay at Villa Luna Sea was so much better than can be described by either. The property was spotless, well maintained, comfortable and situated on a little piece of heaven. Imagine walking out of your back door to the bluest piece of ocean. We relaxed listening to the sounds of the ocean at all times of the day and night. Great opportunity to snorkel right there! Wonderful fish, coral, even the neighborhood lobster hiding amongst the rocks. The photos that are posted are accurate, but not nearly as good as the real thing. The owners were better than helpful: they have up-to-date information about activities, attractions, restaurants; they give you the feeling of being life-time best friends; they understand and practice a perfect balance between being there for you and providing you the privacy expected. Our stay at Villa Luna Sea was perfect. We would recommend it to anyone and will stay there again on our next visit to Provo.

Multi-Hued Turquoise Waters

Date of Stay: 03/08/10 Review Submitted: 04/06/10

We recently returned from 10 days in TCI. Our 2nd trip there in 8 months. Yes we are 'addicted' to the turquoise waters! Our goal was to celebrate our 25th anniversary in TCI. We prefer staying in a house or condo...we also wanted to be ocean front. With that in mind we started combing through all of the potential rentals. We kept coming back to one we found on vrbo. LunaSea was everything we could have asked for. The apartment was better than the pictures and the view was spectacular. You have your own patio with a huge bonus, a private outdoor shower. They also stock the apartment with the necessary things you'll need to be comfortable and well equipped at the beach. To be honest we were a bit hesitant at first with this property since it is attached to the Villa. After emailing the owner directly...we felt very confident in our decision. And we were not disappointed in ANY way! They were the perfect professional 'hosts'! There if you needed them for tips or advice on what to do or where to go...but otherwise 'invisible'. We would definitely stay here again on future visits!

Can't Wait to Return

When we started to investigate our vacation Villa Luna Sea sounded & looked like everything we were looking for. It was that plus MORE! Charming, quiet, & beautiful. Jan & Rich are very gracious hosts. They respected our privacy but if needed they were right there. They have thought of every detail to make vacationing there a very pleasant stay. I felt like I was in my own home. We could not have received better treatment. All you need to bring are T-shirts, shorts, sunscreen and sandals. Do not overpack. Sites, beaches, snorkeling, restaurants, etc. are only a short drive. This is a truly beautiful place to explore. Yet one can still feel comfortable if you just want to relax on the patio or waterfront area of the studio apt. Set aside your doubts and don't hesitate to book this studio villa. We can't wait to return next year.

Last december my boyfriend and I were looking for the perfect escape from winter and spend a little R & D time together away from the crowd..Villa LUNASEA was exactly what we hoped for and more! What makes it so special aside from a lovely home by the sea are the hosts who are absolutely delightful, helpful and gracious. They will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and will respect your intimacy. I have travelled to many places; different resorts and hotels..but if you prefer a quiet, intimate, private and personalised ...this is IT! I give customer service top rating... A perfect day: get up and swim in the ocean ( a few feet away ) enjoy a coffee with a splendid view...prepare a picnic and drive to a quiet beach with great snorkeling...Romantic dinner at home; buy local fish prepare on the BBQ, enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset. And if you feel more adventurous goscuba diving, it is divine! Or venture out to Grace Bay for a nice dinner with the recommendation of Jan & Rich...they always know what's best. I would highly recommend villa Lunasea to my friends and family. Perfect for a couple or a person travelling alone. When it came time to leave I have to admit I was a little sad but was so grateful to have picked this place. Thanks Jan and Rich!

Perfect vacation spot for two!

Date of Stay: 07/16/09 Review Submitted: 10/05/09

We had an excellent time at Villa LunaSea. We booked our vacation based on all the great reviews and they were not wrong! The accommodations that Jan and Rich have set up are perfect and include everything you need. If there is anything you still need, the owners are very nice and helpful. We didn't actually get to meet Jan while we were there, but Rich was great at being available while not making us feel uncomfortable. The rental condo is very private and the home is made of concrete walls, so you can't hear anyone above you (and vice versa). The only "unexpected visitor" was their sweet dog, Kat, who would come around for a quick visit when we were sitting on the back porch. There isn't an extensive kitchen (a toaster oven, microwave and fridge), but we didn't miss not having a stove as the outdoor grill was sufficent. Plus, who really wants to be cooking for every meal on a vacation? We have no negatives about the accommodations at all. This place is great if you want to be away from the "tourists" at Grace Bay. The drive anywhere over the island isn't very far, but we felt tucked away and secluded at Villa LunaSea. Rich also had numerous recommendations on places to snorkel, eat, and generally goof off. We would recommend renting a four wheel drive vehicle as the road to Villa LunaSea is a little bumpy. We rented an economy car that definitely took a beating on the road to the rental house. Renting a four wheel drive would have given us more peace of mind and allowed us to drive a little faster! We hope to come back to Villa LunaSea in the future and we have recommended it to all our friends!

Luna Sea is Wonderful

Guest: Mary S. (New England, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/30/09 Review Submitted: 07/12/10

My husband & I just got back from a week's vacation in Turks & rented Luna Sea. It is a beautiful location, and the apartment was perfect for our needs. We spent much time at the apartment location itself...swimming in the beautiful water, floating in chairs (wonderful ropes to tie around your foot to secure yourself!), grilling, and just relaxing. The apartment is away from the "busier" Grace Bay hotel area, but we enjoyed going there to snorkel and walk the long beach. Although it was very hot (July), you can just jump in the water to cool off and continue your walk. The apartment itself is just what we were looking for. You are completely private; the owners are wonderful hosts and are there if you need them for anything. Jan & Rich also totally respect your privacy. We rented a car from Avis and drove to other beaches to snorkel; the drive up to and beyond Blue Hills was fun; eating cracked conch at the Tiki Hut while watching the World Cup was great fun also. Food is rather expensive; we did eat simply and did most of the cooking at the apartment. There is an IGA with a good selection of food and wine close by. The grill & microwave were sufficient for our needs. I would recommend Luna Sea to anyone who wanted a relaxing vacation on Provo. If we return to Provo in the future, we would definitely rent Luna Sea again. Five Stars!!!!

It doesn't get better than this!

We had an absolutely awesome vacation at LunaSea last week. We snorkeled for the first time (not far by car from LunaSea), and I am seriously hooked. We saw different creatures every single day--I think I probably saw about 40 different species of fish, plus about a dozen types of coral, and an unknown number of invertebrates like anemones, plus a weird sea cucumber. It was incredibly beautiful (and great exercise)! Our typical day consisted of getting up, having toast and coffee/juice, going off to snorkel, coming back for a full breakfast, reading, napping, grabbing some wine and swimming some more, eating dinner, watching a video, more reading, and finally hitting the hay. We wanted a restful and unscheduled vacation, and we got one. There aren't a lot of "sights to see" on Provo, but the few that exist we saw last time, so this one was all about R & R. The property photos and descriptions are accurate. Jan and Rich are fabulous hosts. If you don't want the hustle and bustle of the Grace Bay hotels, but instead seek peaceful beauty and seclusion--while still being a short drive from shopping, etc.--then LunaSea is for you.

Villa LunaSea will always be a very important part of our story. For a week, we took a step away from our crazy lives and enjoyed a piece of paradise. who know that a room with a view could be so inspiring. We thought that only happened in novels. Quiet days at the villa and the beautiful sunsets out by the water were some of our favorite moments on the island. We hop you enjoy this place as much as we did!

LunaSea...I'll back be back! (Yearly if I can.)

LunaSea is the perfect place for a “Me-cation”! I was in desperate need of a recharge retreat and LunaSea was the perfect destination. I had an absolutely wonderful time there, completely on my own, for two weeks this past March 2009 and I honestly did not want to leave. Ever. I am a 30-year old female and I NEVER felt unsafe. LunaSea is clean and peaceful and perfect. Jan & Rich are truly wonderful people. They are warm and caring, but never intrusive, very helpful and hospitable and quite funny. The apartment is perfect – my two weeks at LunaSea really allowed me to decompress and unwind from my stressful job back in Toronto. LunaSea is a great escape – it’s private and secluded and I recommend it for the solo traveller, a couple on their honeymoon or anniversary, or for a girl’s getaway. It's a great place for anyone who really just wants to get away and does not want to deal with a resort or overwhelming amounts of people. Also, their dog, Kat, is the sweetest dog on the face of the earth! She’d come by every night for a visit and a scratch behind the ears. FOOD: I’m a big brunch fan so I would go into Grace Bay pretty much every morning for brunch. I also don't really like to cook so I made myself lots of smoothies as snacks - the IGA grocery store was great! I could have made myself dinners too but I chose to eat out at restaurants. Dining alone is totally not a big deal if you just don't care and bring a book. ;) THINGS TO DO: I explored the entire island of Provo by car but I spent most of my time snorkelling, and also reading and relaxing. Before I left for Provo I was really worried about driving on the left but it actually took me less than one day to get used to it! Not a big deal at all. Smith’s Reef was my favourite place to snorkel - it was quiet/not busy and HUGE and always an adventure! I saw sea turtles, huge eagle rays, spotted eagle rays, huge stingrays, barracuda and of course lots of different fish! The two best, most useful things I got for my trip: 1) a wetsuit and 2) an underwater camera case for my camera. I have exceptionally fond memories of my time at LunaSea and I will definitely return.

Beautiful beautiful property; although the downstairs studio is really meant for 2 people, I went with 2 girlfriends for holiday break and Jan & Rich could not have been more accommodating. They had biscotti waiting for us, they had borrowed an extra cot for us, and they were extremely helpful with advice from eating out to snorkeling places. The place is right on the water and a private beach is only 5 minutes away! Could not ask for more. We had a great combination of lots of activities (horseback riding, snorkeling, kayaking) and lots of time to loll around on the beach and watch satellite TV at "home". You definitely need to rent a car to make the most of your time on the island; there isn't much in the way of public transportation. Place has a kitchen but no stove; but there is a toaster oven and a grill that we used every other night. It was great to be able to cook at home as well as eat out (Da Conch Shack is a must) and the IGA grocery store is a 10 minute drive away. But really, the best part of our vacation was our hosts: Jan and Rich are simply lovely people. (And they have an adorable dog, Kat!)

My friends and I stayed here during Christmas break 2008 and it was wonderful. We had a whole little suite to ourselves, and Jan and Rich even managed to fit an extra camp bed in since we were a group of 3. Everything was neat and clean and well-maintained. It's a beautiful property right on the water with all the amenities you can think of - even a cell phone! - you won't be disappointed. (I must say we found the outdoor grill very useful/fun.) Jan and Rich have got to be the best hosts ever. Very kind, gracious, and always willing to lend us something or make recommendations. Great baked surprises too! :) Oh, and of course, can't forget Kat - she likes to wander around the back for visits!

Date of Stay: 12/23/08 Review Submitted: 04/01/09

We stayed with Jan & Rich for the last week in December in their absolutely gorgeous house. First of all, Jan & Rich will be just about the 2 nicest people I've ever met. They welcomed us warmly and helped us out with everything during our stay, including helpful tips about the island and providing us everything we needed. The studio that we stayed was perfect - there was a comfortable queen-sized bed with a half kitchen, that included a toaster oven, coffee machine, microwave, blender and a mini fridge. There is also a gas-grill outside, so we did alot of cooking on that. In addition, there was a TV with cable (for the very rare rainy day) and a stereo CD player. Everything was clean and tidy, and we had fresh towels replaced regularly (more than we actually used!) The studio has its own entrance facing the road, so you don't have to worry about bothering the owners. The other set of doors open up to a patio that faces the bay and is literally directly on the water. You can dip your feet into water first thing in the morning if you so desired, and having breakfast on the patio every morning was a treat! In order to get around, you definitely need to have a car. Driving on the left took us some time to get use to, but once you got it, it's fairly simple. What great about staying in this apartment on Turtle Tail is that you truly feel like you're in a secluded area. We walked down Grace Bay Beach a few times and though the beach itself is lovely, having all of the resorts back to back made it seem strangely cluttered! Before you embark on your trip, make sure to either book scuba or snorkeling trips in advance, or as soon as you arrive! If you're adventurous, there are plenty of water sports and activities to do. If you prefer to relax in the sun, there are so many beaches to visit that you could stop in a different place every day. (In fact the private beach close to the apartment is INCREDIBLE - the softest sand we've ever stepped into!) This was a lovely vacation and I feel incredibly lucky to have found this beautiful apartment. I don't think we would have enjoyed our stay as much as we did if we stayed at a hotel or someplace else. Jan & Rich were having the apartment painted around the time when we wanted to rent, but they were kind enough to fit us in. If this place is available during the time you want to go, don't wait! Reserve it now - you definitely won't regret it!

A Beautiful & Tranquil Paradise Retreat!

Words can't even begin to describe our wonderful week at Villa LunaSea. It was perfect - absolutely perfect. Villa LunaSea was everything we were looking for - charming, romantic, simple, beautiful, and quiet. We loved it all! The water in Turtle Tail is some of the most beautiful in Provo. It was so mesmerizing I couldn't even manage to finish my book! We loved being able to just walk out the back door and step right into the amazing, warm Caribbean sea. It was wonderful to wake up each morning and sit on the patio with a cup of coffee. We visited Grace Bay several times, but we were always so glad to come back to our own little retreat, away from all the tourists. Jan & Rich are wonderful hosts and surprised us with biscotti one day! They shared many helpful tips with us that enhanced our time in Provo. We thank Jan & Rich from the bottom of our hearts for letting us share in their piece of paradise. It was everything we dreamed of in celebrating our 20th anniversary. We can’t wait to plan our return visit!
