We stayed for five days at the River House and it was so peaceful and beautiful! Even when it rained, we could sit on the screened porch and enjoy the raindrops falling on the trees. Afterward we took photos of the glistening trees and plants, mist on the river, gorgeous! When the sun was out we went tubing--just put in across the street or at the bridge down the road and meandered back to our deck. That was bliss! Cold river felt great in the hot sun. Spent a day on Old Mission Peninsula, about 30 miles north of the house, a scenic, easy drive with a buffalo farm along the way! Wineries have incredible panoramas, couldn't believe how blue the bay and Lake Michigan are. Also enjoyed Fishtown in Leland. The River House was fully stocked with all our needs, we just made a trip or two into Fife Lake for groceries. It is very well maintained, cool and comfortable--we even used the gas fireplace a couple of chilly nights! That was wonderful. The property manager left a goodie basket for us with coffee, tea and other delights, as well as a big binder with brochures to help us find fun things to do and places to eat. Can't wait to go back!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a wonderful snowy layout with a clear moon shining down on us. The warmth and coziness of the cabin was immediately felt as soon as we entered. A rush of warm air kissed our chilly faces like it had been waiting all season for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the Northwoods River House and the romantic nature that surrounds it. It was very peaceful and allowed a great break from the day-to-day routine and stress for us. We spent our Saturday in beautiful Traverse City and enjoyed a spectacular deli lunch at the Dish Cafe, which we found in your wonderful notebook of treasures! We took a stroll along Lake Michigan and enjoyed two steamy mocha lattes while collecting pebbles from the shore. We closed our day out with a nice, quiet and romantic evening by candlelight. All in all a SUPERB trip and we will definitely be back! Until next time.......

We stayed here Aug. 19-26, 2006 and it was WONDERFUL! I almost hate to say how nice, because I am afraid there would be no future openings for us again, but I can't fib. The house is beautiful, extremely comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Many thoughtful extras are provided. The area is quiet and the river outside your back door makes you feel so serene. We slept in, breakfasted on the beautiful screened porch, watched game shows on satellite TV, put together a puzzle, played games and spent restful time together. When we got to feeling adventurous we made the 35 minute drive to Traverse City and shopped or went to wineries. On our first Saturday evening we went to Merritt Speedway (a 30 minute drive) and had a great deal of fun watching the races. I'm a history enthusiast, so we decided to check out the Fife Lake Historical Museum (open Fri, Sat & Sun) and it turned out to be a very cool place where we spent a lot more time than we had thought possible. It was just a great trip and both the booking agent and the owner were wonderful to deal with. A++!
