This is more than just a house on the sea. Unique on the East Coast, it is a natural haven for those seeking a touch of luxury while enjoying the adventure and excitement of pure nature. On the Great South Bay, the property is just a 1-minute walk from a secluded ocean beach. 75-minutes from NYC, it feels thousands of miles distant. This "unknown neighborhood" is a half-mile from Water Island and 1 1/2 miles from the Pines. Without cars or roads, our little community consists only of 3 other homes, for the most part invisible from our house. Our property is completely private –except for birds and butterflies.
With large decks on three levels and 360-degree views of bay & sea, there is always a place to find a breeze, the sun or shade. Ocean and bay are ideal for swimming, boating, fishing and beach-combing.
John Lennon, Greta Garbo and others wanting to escape from view have summered nearby. We share with the other 3 homes a private dock and a wooden walk connecting bay and sea. and one of only four houses in Fire Island’s most exclusive community.
With three bedrooms, two living areas, two baths, two outdoor showers, and six decks, the house very comfortably sleeps six. (It actually sleeps 8, but we like a 6-person max.) It was fully renovated by the internationally-celebrated architect Richard Gluckman.
For people who would love a private retreat, this community of four homes is bordered by a two-mile stretch of undeveloped National Seashore to the West and a stretch of National Seashore to the East.
Private boat trip available to and from house dock. There are also daily ferry trips to Water Island, a short walk away as well as private water taxi service direct from The Pines and Davis Park to Water Island.
