LAKE SUPERIOR
Looking to get away from it all while in Minnesota? You will feel like you are on the ocean while relaxing at Aspenwood in Lutsen MN. Immediately upon entering, you will notice that every room has an unobstructed view of Lake Superior, making you feel as if you are part of the lake.
Late afternoon and evenings are magical at the lake. Build a fire on the rocks and count stars while the moon dances across the water and later fall asleep at night to the sound of waves lapping on the shoreline. Early risers can watch the sun rise right out of the water while drinking coffee on one of the lakeside decks or sleep in until the warm sun greets your face.
THE HOME
The interior of Aspenwood leaves nothing to the imagination as to where you are; on the north shore of Lake Superior. 2,500+ square feet of living space are adorned with hand-made log furniture and other creature comforts only a newer home can bring. Gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, two gas fireplaces, upper and lower TV areas with satellite TV/DVD/VCR (and movie library) as well as a game area allow large groups to each have their own space or couples have plenty of room to roam.
SLEEPING
All 4 bedrooms have a dedicated bath and the owner's suite has a two person 'Jacuzzi' whirlpool that overlooks the lake for romantic evenings or soothing sore muscles after an invigorating day of skiing, biking or hiking.
THINGS TO DO
**We have direct access to the Gitchi Gami Bike Trail. You can bike to the Temperence River state park and hike the waterfalls without getting in your car!**
The north shore offers something for each season. Skiers are welcomed home with in-floor heat on each level providing your feet and body with the most luxurious heating system available. Groomed cross country ski trails are less than one mile away and Lutsen Mountains are 6 miles away for easy access. Our insulated, attached garage is a convenient place to store all your ski equipment and car.
Stay cool during hot summer days with Lake Superior's natural air conditioning or travel a few miles inland and enjoy area lakes for fishing or boating. Superior National Golf Course is only 3 miles away and offers 27 of the most visually stunning (and quite challenging!)holes in the Midwest.
Enjoy 5 restaurants within 10 minutes of our north shore rental home such as Lutsen Resort and Blue Fin in Tofte MN.
Grand Marais MN is a 20 minute drive down the shore and has many unique shops to satisfy even the biggest shoppers. Take a pick of some fabulous cuisine while in town and enjoy the views of the harbor.
Don't forget about spring blossoms, hikes along streams bloated by spring rains and unmatched fall colors in the Boreal forest. April and November are great quiet times to curl up and read a book by the fire and listen to the waves on the shore when you just need some time to yourself.
Take advantage of everything the area has to offer or stay in and do nothing at all. Either way, Aspenwood has what you are looking for!

Wonderful location! Spectacular view! This lovely home has two decks, and a patio overlooking the cliffs, and shore of Lake Superior. We have stayed at the Storlies' condo on the North Shore of Lake Superior five times now, and we are looking forward to another visit this autumn. The home is large enough for the family (three adult couples) to have our own space, and yet we can gather together in the kitchen/great room, or game room/family room. It is roomy, and yet has a cozy feel. For visitors who love to cook, the kitchen is very well equipped with large and small appliances, utensils, and dishes. The home is very clean, and well maintained. Rick, his assistant Liz, and the staff in Lutsen are friendly, and make sure the stay is pleasant.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

If there were 6 stars, we would give it. We visited this lovely condo for our first vacation in 6 years. We enjoyed the lovely view and especially the Jacuzzi tub. Also nearby were excellent snowshoeing trails and of course Lutsen Ski Resort. The owners have thought of everything, and everything is high quality. We WILL be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I came up Wednesday night to begin our stay at Lutsen with the rest of the family joining us Thursday afternoon. We woke to a beautiful sunrise Thursday morning and weather warm enough to have our coffee out on the deck overlooking the lake. A quick trip to Grand Marais then back to the house to wait for my daughter, her husband and their two children and my son and his girlfriend. An all day poker party Friday due to the rain but everyone hit the slopes on Saturday and had a great time. Dinner Saturday night at the Pub at Lutsen Resort-excellent and very child friendly. We were sad to leave Sunday, especially since the snow finally arrived but hope to be back again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family has a tradition of going up to Lutsen the week prior to Christmas every year. We used to stay at the Lutsen Resort until we found this lovely home last year. We spent a good portion of one night without lights (due to strong winds), which we greatly enjoyed!! The hiking is awesome, and the views are excellent!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Hello! My name is Rick Storlie. I have a 6 year old son Mason and 8 year old daughter Breanna. I live in Savage, MN and originally from Northfield. My brother Chip is a part owner with me.
Why the Owner Chose Lutsen:
My family has been vacationing on the north shore since 1975. My father owned a Lutsen Sea Villa (which is coincidentally less than a mile from our cabin now) until 1995. I learned to ski, deer hunt, grouse hunt and skip rocks on the north shore. Chip has hiked many miles of the Superior Hiking trail and loves to kayak along the shore of Lake Superior on calm days. We've swam in the lake (be careful it's cold), water skied (on a dare), fished and enjoyed bathtub like water (once) along with 20+ foot waves. One of the neatest things to do is sleep with the windows open and hear the waves crashing on the rocks below.
The combination of Lake Superior and the Superior National forest has an indescribable calming effect on your soul. All I can say is- a trip to the north shore is guaranteed to recharge your batteries!
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
No matter what the season there are things to do on the North Shore.
SUMMER
Try the Alpine slide located at Lutsen Mountains. The Gitchi Gami bike trail now has been extended so you can access it in front of our home. You can hop on and bike the north shore for miles.
Find Lake Superior fishing charters in Tofte and Grand Marais along with inland fishing lakes too.
The Superior Hiking Trail is only a couple of miles from our home. I recommend the Oberg and LeVeaux loop- fantastic overlooks! Golfers will love Superior National and its 27 holes. Yes it's challenging but the views of Lake Superior and Moose Mountain will help you forget how many balls you've lost.
Like to shop? Quaint shops are located right on the harbor in Grand Marais. Only 20 minutes away.
WINTER
Lutsen Mountains has the best downhill skiing in the Midwest. There are hundreds of miles of cross country, snow shoe and snowmobile trails accessible within 5 minutes. The clubhouse at Superior National turns into a winter recreation activity center. You can go on horse drawn sleigh rides and take dog mushing tours- just stop by.
SPRING
Spring time hikes along raging streams in the spring will give you countless photo opportunities. Perhaps the best spring activity is hanging our at our home with a good book. Cook some great food and take advantage of quiet time on the North Shore. Rates are lower too!
FALL
The fall colors in the Maple forests are second to none. Fall is still my favorite time to visit the north shore. I think the two things we may love the most are fires on the lake shore and coffee on the deck overlooking the lake. If you're an early riser you can see the sun come right out of the water!
