Beautiful, comfortable, well cared for, impeccable attention to detail - top notch accommodations! We’ve stayed in condos in a number of states and scenarios. This one rates as one of the very best! The views are stunning, the area charming; many places to explore including hiking trails that rate among some of the best, great restaurants nearby, and wonderful entertainment (we saw Bump and Barbara Jean at the Gun Flint Tavern). The full moon was a stroke of unplanned luck. We certainly plan to be back!

My husband and I stayed at this Amazing property, The home is beautiful, The home had everything we needed plus more. This was the nicest place that we had ever stayed. I loved the color changing Jacuzzi for two and the very private view of lake Superior. The King size bed was very comfortable and we had so much room we could have shared with 4 other couples but Im glad that we had the place to ourselves after all, it was our Anniversary. The Kitchen had everything we needed plus more, like the coffee grinder and fresh coffee beans with creamer and sugar. Thank You so much for letting us share your home. We will be back again, and I will tell my friends and family about this place.

First before I even get to the property itself I'd like to complement the renter (Rick) and his staff. Super professional and so easy to work with. Quickly answered any questions we had and went above and beyond in recommended some activities for our group to do. We visited this amazing property in mid January. Our group consisted of 7 adults and one dog. Upon arrival we were immediately impressed with the place. It's exactly as advertised if not even better. The place was clean from top to bottom. I think the kitchen was more stocked than my own house! The house allowed for each of use to have our own private spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms) and then two great living rooms for us all to hang out. The place is a short 7 minute drive to Lutsen Mountain and just under a half hour to Grand Marais. It was not your typical Minnesota January as far as snow fall goes but this allowed us to explore the shore a little around the place which was really cool! Oh, one last thing...The View. I can't tell you how amazing it was to wake up every morning as see the great lake. I don't know if that would ever get old. Once again I highly recommend and would revisit this place in a heartbeat!
Owner response:Anthony- your experience makes our job all worth while! And to answer your question, "no," the view of the lake NEVER gets old. So glad you enjoyed your vacation. ~Rick

Our recent stay at Aspenwood was absolutely perfect. The Townhome was beautiful and featured every amenity. The view of Lake Superior is unbeatable and this vacation memory will go down as one of our most cherished. We cannot wait to go back either next year or during the summer.

My wife and I stayed at this townhome for 2 nights at the end of November. It goes to show there really is no bad time of year to vacation. The summer months are quite touristy along the North Shore so this was a great time for us to still see the sites and get the more private feeling as the area was pretty empty of people. But back to the home itself. We loved it ! It was so big. There are 3 big levels and for just two people, we didn't even get to spend any time in the lower level, which was just as nice as the others, but you can only be in one room at a time. The bedroom was a dream. Huge. Nice big walk-in closet and a jacuzzi right there in the room as well. Two decks to enjoy. I personally took advantage of viewing the night sky from the upper deck and was really awed by the stars in the sky mixed with the sound of Superior's waves crashing in. I don't get that at my house. The kitchen was beautiful and everything had a "new" feeling to it. Even the drawers rolled out so smooth like a tool chest with ball bearings. (wrench-heads will know what I mean here.) I was impressed with the attention to detail throughout the whole experience. Like having lots of movies and cd's to entertain you, a coffee machine that uses real coffee beans, (first time for me), with 3 choices of beans to choose from in the freezer and note cards by the coffee machine explaining in detail how to use the coffee maker. Stuff like that. And let me not forget the site of Superior watching the sun rise eating breakfast at the table, watching a ship go by. What a great experience! We'll be back, thank you!

Words cannot express the appreciation we feel for the opportunity to spend time at Aspenwood. Rick and his family have created a paradise for travelers along a magnificant stretch of the North Shore. The accomodations are superb with all the ammenities one could desire. Not only has Rick provided a clean, comfortable oasis, he has made the experience easy to manuver with the use of excellent instructions and much appreciated e-mail updates. We wanted for nothing! We thank Rick and his family for allowing us to spend valuable "family time" in this well appointed, tastefully decorated, ideally located townhome. We would highly recommend that others consider this location to those who desire a flawless vacation experience. Way to go Rick!

We were very pleased with the accommodations at the Aspenwood TownHome. Our group consisted of 4 brothers and 3 wives (my prescious sisters-in-law) all from Wisconsin. We were hoping for a few relaxing days spent sitting on the deck reading books playing games, and gazing out on beautiful Lake Superior. We were not disappointed, Aspenwood had it all, even the weather cooperated. We were truly blessed to stay at this home. Our visit was awesome, we hope we can return some time in the future. Thanks Rick!.

Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful home away from home for us on our vacation. The home was even much better than we ever expected! It was spotless and accomodated our extended family very well. My 80 year old mother spent days doing embroidery on the deck overlooking the lake while us younger ones went on hikes and the alpine slide in Lutsen and exploring in Grand Marais. We will definitely plan another trip to Aspenwood!

Our group of 3 couples stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July. The location was perfect. We enjoyed cocktails on the balcony overlooking Lake Superior, viewing the birds (bald eagles, loons, gulls, hummingbirds, mergansers) and evening walks along the bike trail next to the lake. The accommodations were lovely with adequate community space, but still privacy for our three couples in each bedroom/bathroom suite. Admiring the Milky Way from the upper deck was an unexpected surprise. There were many things in the area that our group enjoyed. We were delighted with the waterfalls at the nearby state parks: Gooseberry Falls, Cascade, and Grand Portage. Do not miss the Split Rock Lighthouse, the Lutsen Mountain Tram or the Grand Portage National Monument. We also spent a day in Grand Marais and were delighted by our lakeshore hike along Artist Point, behind the Coast Guard Station. The Angry Trout restaurant was a real treat, as was our drive through the wilderness on the gunflint Trail. I would gladly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing break along the north shore of Lake Superior. Our group truly had a superior stay and hope to come back again.

Our family and friends enjoyed a beautiful visit to Aspenwood on the shores of Lake Superior. The cool temperatures were a nice change from the 90+ temperatures in Georgia. The townhouse was spacious and very generously appointed. It sits in a perfect location. We easily accessed state parks, Lutsen and Grand Marais. The views and the beach access were great, too. We have many fond memories of our stay and hope to return again next year. Thank you to the Storlies!

My husband and I have stayed in this unit twice once in the winter and once in the summer. My husband and I along with our adult girls and husbands spent the weekend in this great place int he winter. We went skiing on Lutsen Mountain had some great times cooking in the wonderful kitchen and playing games on the huge kitchen table and just relaxed. We decided to go back in the summer just my husband and I and spent 3 nights at the property. WOW the views are so amazing from the main level in-side and out onthe deck and from the master bedroom in-side and on the bedroom deck (Wow) . We went hiking on Lutsen Mountain what a different view in the summer. I have told many of my friends and trust they will love it has much as we all have. We have plans to return we love the Lutsen area and the owners of this property make it REALLY easy to rent from them they have thought of everything down to the fresh coffee beans in the freezer Thank you very much for taking pride in your home and sharing it will others.

We had a wonderful time at Aspenwood this past weekend. Even though it rained all day on Saturday there was plenty of space for all of us (6 adults and 4 kids under 2). We were able to make all our meals and eat in the well equiped kitchen/dining room. The downstairs game room was perfect for the kids to play and have space for all their toys. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and hanging out on the large deck on Sunday when the temps reached 65! Great views of the lake and wildlife! The bike trail was so close which allowed us to go for a long walk and ride with all the kids. We have already talked about going back in the fall and would recommend it to anyone! Thanks Rick! Diane

Storlie Family, we had a fabulous, relaxing time at your home. Thanks Rick! The full kitchen supplied all we needed to make meals, full size refrigerator, and gas grill came in handy also. The view of the lake is amazing, and we enjoyed having access to walk down to the beach area also. There are plenty of things to do around the area. We hiked at nearby State Parks and saw some beautiful waterfalls, and had a picnic visited Grand Marais. If weather does not cooperate, a movie and popcorn or a good book in front of the fireplace works too.

The entire family was impressed when we walked into Aspenwood. The spaciousness, the amenities and the breathtaking view of Lake Superior made it a perfect location to spend the week together. We found everything we needed to prepare and enjoy dinner in the comfort of the unit. We explored the trail outside our backdoor that lead to the shores of Lake Superior. There was enough room to spread out if anyone needed their space. It was a tranquil and comfortable stay we all enjoyed. * The listing description was accurate of Aspenwood. * The listing photos and written description of Aspenwood were entirely accurate. We greatly enjoyed both the unit and surrounding North Shore area. * The property, as they say in Real Estate, was turnkey condition. My wife, actually most of our family, are fussy when it comes to cleanliness. * Prior to our arrival, I was confident that I understood what I needed to know to began our trip from Alexandria. When we arrived, everything went like clockwork. No problems whatsoever. * I have already spoken with friends and realatives about Aspenwood. Everyone is impressed. * Since we have been up in this area previously, we alwalys venture up the Gunflint Trail for sight seeing and of course, lunch at the Trail Center Resturand. We always enjoy a stop there. The only minor problems were that one daughter had difficulty with the TV remotes. She was used to one remote (Harmony) for getting the TV going; some of the information in the Master Book was outdated. (I don't recall the exact specifics of what resturants, etc. were involved). We had an excellent stay and we will be back next year. Thank You, Ron Kline

We were seeking a location with grand views of the lake which would allow our dog. We found it! The views were spectacular and the town home was totally amazing. We felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. The town home was spotless and had all the amenities you could ever need! We had the great fortune to have a nightly showing of an eagle flying along the coast, beautiful moon lit nights over the lake and the amazing sound of the waves. The location is great for numerous sightseeing and adventure trips. We enjoyed our stay so much that we immediately re-booked another visit later this year!

What a wonderful stay we had during our 5 days. The house was everything advertised and was more than we could have hoped for. The location was perfect, making for easy trips to Gooseberry, Split Rock, Tettegouche, Temperance River and Cascade River State Parks and Lutsen is right next door. After days at the state parks, we could not imagine coming home to a better place. We loved going down to the shoreline during the day and listening to the waves crash on shore at night (Tuesday and Wednesday blew in big waves). The kids have all talked about how much fun they had and we will definitely be returning in the future. I can't imaging staying anywhere else and have already recommended the house to several friends.
Owner response:With the new bike trail you can also bike to Cascade River state park. The park even has bike racks right along the trails. Park your bike and enjoy the waterfalls. We love the waves too. There's nothing more soothing!

Your place is like a big warm welcome. Just what we've been looking for over the past 10 years of staying on the North Shore. Every creature comfort anyone can ask for, from the garage (big plus), gas grill, laundry, to somehting as simple as a wine opener, right at your finger tips. You don't have to want for anything, as it's right here. It's like a vacation within a vacation, you just show up and you start to relax and enjoy. You don't even have to leave your place to see wonderful sights. It's right out your back door. But if you do venture out, everything, and I do mean everything from Resturant's, Golf, Hiking, to Skiing is just a hop skip or jump away. WE WILL BE BACK !!!!

I have stayed in this wonderful property twice now. Both experiences were fabulous. We had 4 adults and had more than enough room. The kitchen and living area on the main level is gorgeous and large. So is the downstairs. The garage is a huge plus. The deck is one of the best parts. There is a hill in the back yard where you can see beautiful scenary and wildlife. Appliances, lighting, and atmosphere are great. I have nothing negative to say about this place. Even the price is right. I went with some friends for an extended winter weekend to ski and now I'm planning to bring my wife for a fall visit. You've seen the rest, now go with the best!

We had a fabulous family get together at this beautiful townhome in Lutsen; it was everything it was advertised to be and more! Our only complaint for the stay was the skiing was a bit cold, but the home was so inviting, warm and cozy that we had no regrets spending more time there than on the slopes. What a beautiful setting. It doesn't get any better. Very nicely furnished and equipped townhouse that was perfect for the six of us. Kitchen was excellent and had everything we needed to prepare ourr meals. Dining area was very nice. The living area off the kitchen is the only space that was somewhat inadequate. The seating around the fireplace did not accommodate six and certainly not potentially eight. We tend to gather in one space at the end of the night and more comfy seating would have been appreciated (the heavy dining room chairs were not really comfortable). Bedromms and bathrooms were outstanding. All in all the perfect spot. I will be calling to reserve for next year.
Owner response:Our home works great for large groups that like to be together, yet have their own space. The greatroom (fireplace, dining and snack bar) does encompass seating for 12 and we also have seating for another 7 in our lower level TV/Fireplace room and game area. This way, adults can have one space and kids another. The log chairs are heavy as they are solid wood and the decor adds a lot to the north woods feeling.

We stayed last December for our honeymoon and it was a great find. The price was incredibly affordable for having an entire townhouse to stay in and it was a beautiful place. Everything was updated and very comfortable. The views were also amazing. There was a deck/patio on every level to look out over Lake Superior and what a view it was. We were able to watch the sunset every night and had some great viewing of the stars as well. Additionally, it was very close to many great hiking trails. The only dislike was that it was not cleaned the day we arrived. However, we called when we got there to say it was not cleaned and within an hour or two a couple ladies stopped by to clean the whole townhouse. We were even compensated for a dinner for our troubles! We would definitely stay here again.
Owner response:There's nothing that makes your heart stop like getting a call your home isn't cleaned! Fortunately we've upgraded our cleaners who not only do an immaculate job, they keep track of our calendar better too. Thanks for the note Mindy. I'm glad everything worked out!

This is our second time staying at this property, and we love it. The view from all three stories is almost nothing but lake. It feels like you are on the edge of the ocean. Our favorite part of the house is the oversized 2 person jacuzzi that you can look at the lake while you relax in the tub. It's only a couple of miles away from Lutsen ski area, and close to Grand Marais. We had a great time, you will have a great time, everyone that stays there will have a good time.

The five days and four nights we spent in Lutsen not only exceeded our most hopeful expectations, they rapidly converted themselves into a treasure chest of memories we will never forget. And the greatest part is that we knew it the whole time. It's no exaggeration to say that our most frequent topic of conversation was how amazing everything about our trip and the home turned out. The combination of the condo's spaciousness and proximity to the lake alone were enough to provide the comfort of feeling at home while immersed in the calming wonders of the wilderness. And it's also no exaggeration to say that we pretty much owe all that we accomplished outside the home to that awesome guest guide in the white binder.

Great property with an awesome view! Unfortunately the cool, rainy weather kept us from enjoying the decks, but not the restful sounds of waves lapping at the shore as we fell asleep. Had everything we needed and more for a relaxing break from stressful work. Enjoyed the fireplace ambience while watching the Twins win on satellite TV. What you see and read in the listing are just what you will get, with everything clean and well-maintained. Really appreciate the accommodations being pet-friendly as our little guy loves traveling with us. Kitchen perfect for breakfasts and snacking, but we chose to eat dinners out. Bluefin's warm chocolate cake for dessert was the best! Thanks for sharing your North Shore retreat with us ... we loved it!
Owner response:We travel with our dog Bentley, too. Don't forget to watch our video tour where you can see every part of our home and get a great idea of what we offer. Sorry about the rain but at least the twins won! Rick

The property was as advertised and more. All the details were taken cared of from before we arrived to our departure. The home was sparkling clean and the location is ideal for exploring the Northwoods of Minnesota. A wonderful surprise was a binder full of information about the area, from restaurants and grocery stores to activities(ie, how maple syrup is made). The book was a valuable to make our time event more there even more memorable.
Owner response:I'm glad you liked the book. The great thing about the North Shore is no matter what the time of year there are always things to see and do!

Love this place. You can't get much closer to the water than Aspenwood. Kitchen is so well equipped and beautiful to look at. Spend many hours talking, cooking and laughing.....great gathering place while preparing your dinner. I highly reccommend this place. Thumbs up Aspenwood. From Thunder Bay, Ontario

Stayed at Rick's place for a girls outing. This place is amazing from the accomodations to the view. Kitchen is fabulous. So many great times cooking and talking around the island. Rick was great and most personable. Looking into booking again for our girls outing. Highly recommended. Karen Thunder Bay

Have enjoyed the unique qualities of many North Shore rentals. However, for view, luxury, and privacy this condo is by far a 10+!! Meals on the main balcony accompanied by music of the waves below provided unsurpassed dining pleasure. Rustic but elegant furnishings were as soothing as the jacuzzi where you can soak in the warmth and the stunning expanse of the Superior shores. Dawn from the deck was well worth rising for even if you are on vacation and even though star studded skies at night tempted you to stay up til dawn! The open layout and well appointed cooking area truly lends to the joy of cooking feasts that sate the palate in the same way that these accommodations sate the soul. Yes this sounds like a rave but it's hard not to after staying in these surroundings.

Hi Rick- We had a GREAT time at your place! It was such a nice surprise walking into the door of such a cozy cabin! The location was great, your directions were very easy to understand and we lucked out with some good weather. All in all, couldn’t have asked for more except how do I make a reservation for next year?!?

Hi Rick and family, thanks for letting us rent your wonderful home last fall for our annual sisters and friends hiking trip. We had a great time and the fall colors were spectacular. Your home was the best we have rented in the 15 years we have been enjoying the Lutzen area. The weather was fantastic and the view of Lake Superior from your deck was magnificent. Thanks again!

This is the first time we've rented anything using VRBO. It was great! This townhome was beautiful, well maintained, very clean and the view was spectacular! Working with Rick, the owner was a pleasure as well. He got back to us quickly in response to questions and I greatly appreciated the pricing structure they offer. It is an awesome deal!

The house was beautiful! A perfect fit for the 7 of us! We had a great time skiing on the Lutsen hills. Highway 61 was pretty icy and scary on the drive home, but overall the trip was great! The kitchen was so wonderful to cook in, the fire place after skiing was fantastic, and the master suite was a dream. Thanks!

Every winter my college roommates and I have been going on a ski trip to various places around the country. This year was our fourth annual trip, and our first after we all graduated from college. With everyone taking new jobs and attending graduate school, we decided to take a shorter trip up to Lutsen Resort in Minnesota. The Aspenwood condo was by far the best place we've ever stayed at! There was plenty of room for 8 guys to all have comfortable sleeping arrangements, a large fridge for LOTS of food in the spacious kitchen, and even more room for everyone to lounge around after a great day of skiing! The pictures seen online don't do this place justice. Not only is the condo amazing, it also has an incredible view! On top of all of that, it was well within our price range! I would highly recommend staying here for all of your adventures in and around the Lutsen area!
Owner response:Thanks for sharing your experience with others James...I'm glad you had a great time. Hope you can join us again!
