My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights over the Chrismas holiday December 2011. We were extremely pleased with our choice. The view from the porch was breathtaking. The accommodations were very clean and inviting. It would very comfortably sleep 6 people. The kitchen is large and well appointed. It is a convenient drive into the charming town of Mariposa where I would highly recommend the swordfish at Savourys restaurant. It is a bit of a drive to Yosemite, as Steve describes accurately, but it is a very beautiful drive as well. Steve and Susan were very pleasant people to work with and even went the extra mile for us by mailing back an item we had left behind.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the house. It was cozy, was well stocked an has an amazing view. The only disappointment was that there is no fireplace and the TV is small and doesn't get a lot of channels. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a great time visiting Yosemite with Mariposa Ridge Retreat as our base of operations. It was about a 50 minute drive into the valley from this very nice house for the money. Very comfortable, up-to-date, and well furnished with lots of space for our family of 5. Two minute drive into Mariposa where we found a very nice grocery store and nice restaurants (on a small road behind the Burger King). Very beautiful sunrises greeted us each morning from the house. Very quiet and private location. Although we did not have a chance to use it, busy with all the local activities, the owners should tout the beautiful, huge big tub in the master bath.

This property is a great location. As advertised, the "Ridge Retreat" is serviceable and comfortable. We had a collective OHHH when we walked in. Our group of 6 was impressed w/ the furnishings, appointments, warmth and amenities. The view looking down in to Mariposa is "Gold Country" complete. We didn't all use the hot tub on account of the rain. We ate twice in town and had great food and we shopped at the market. Just about a mile below the MRR is the turn and relatively short drive in to and out of Yosemite. Our stay here was a great package and my contacts w/ the owner have all been pleasant. thnx

We really enjoyed our stay.Beautiful view from living room, 2 of the bedrooms and back deck. The kitchen is very nice and well equipped. We appreciated the comfy couch and recliners, great for watching DVD's and there are lots of lamps in the living room and bedrooms for reading. The drive from the house to Yosemite is a beautiful one. Getting to town is a quick trip and the grocery store has pretty much everything. We loved our winter visit and hope we can visit in the spring or summer.

Our stay at the retreat over the New Year was relaxing, as we enjoyed the hot tub and the great kitchen. We saw deer and a bear walked over the hill behind the house. The air was clean and the water was delicious. We aren't used to clean water in the city. We emptied our own water bottles and took some home with us, it was great. My wife really enjoyed the comfortable beds and the great bubble bath. We love the little shops downtown and the old court house was really cool. The stars a night were really bright. We will come back again. thank you for the nice home.

Wow, we were there in October. The views were beautiful; it snowed in the mountains and the town below looked like something from a fairytale. Mariposa Ridge Retreat was everything we wanted, Warm, cozy and quiet. A real treat. We will be back, that is for sure.

Back home after a brilliant trip, and just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your Mariposa Ridge Retreat- it was a really wonderful holiday home, a perfect base for us to spend time in Yosemite-the drive in and back was no problem, and was more than compensated for by knowing we were headed back to all the comforts of "home"and to that great deck with its gorgeous tranquil views. You've provided everything we could have wished for and more-and we really appreciated your phone advice, especially re white water rafting-we had such a great day on the Tuolumne with Zephyr, and I'm sure we'd have missed that if we'd not booked ahead. We were happily surprised to find we could get pretty much anything we wanted in Mariposa, the Pioneer supermarket well exceeded expectations, and catered to all choices. all the best with future rentals-we've already recommended your house to friends!

We spent our family summer vacation in this Retreat and we wouldn't have been happier anywhere else. The home is beautiful! It's clean, private, large enough to fit all 7 of us, and the view is magnificent. It was great coming back to the house after a long day out; a home away from home. Thank you so much for opening up this home as a retreat, we are grateful!

Steve, Thanks so much for your hospitality and the use of your beautiful property. We awoke each morning to a scenic vista of the mountains of Yosemite and spent each evening gazing at endless stars from the private hot tub. It's close enough to Yosemite park that we beat the "tourists" and your help with coordinating our activities was most appreciated. We loved the river rafting with your buddy Bob at Zephyr Whitewater Expeditions and the kids just could not get enough of the Sugar Pine Railroad in Fish Camp. The little antique shops in Mariposa were a joy to explore and the small local wineries supplied the vino for our mountain suppers. Thanks for the bottle of champagne and enough wonderful memories to last a lifetime. We are already planning a return trip so please leave the light on for us. sincerely yours, The Holsted Family - P.R. Ca.

As my daughter and I drove in the long driveway, a covey of California Valley Quail ran along side our car. It was great! It was raining and everything was washed. The trees, the sky, the dirt, we just sat in the living room and relaxed. We felt as if we had just gone back in time 50 years. It was awsome. The house is very roomy and comfortable. The pizza parlor in town was teriffic. We drove up to the Merced river that comes out of Yosemite. It was very full, but beautiful. Thanks, Steve for renting your wonderful getaway home to us. We will definetly be back in the future.
