We have been to Paris several times before and this time wanted to experience a neighborhood versus staying right in the heart of things. Julia's apartment was the perfect choice. It is a quiet neighborhood and very convenient to the Metro. The apartment was extremely clean and neat and has everything you need; the beds are very comfortable - an important feature. Moreover, Julia lives in the building so is available to answer questions or deal with any issues that might arise (none did on our trip). We made good use of the Monoprix grocery down the street and enjoyed the farmer's market right around the corner on Sunday morning. And of course we visited the Boulangerie on the corner - several times. Not far away is Rue Daguerre, off of Avenue General Leclerc near the Denfert Rochereau Metro (also near the RER from Charles de Gaulle airport); the street dedicates a few blocks to pedestrian only and has a number of good restaurants. We especially liked Peret Brasserie. My daughter went for a run to Parc Montsouris one afternoon - it is very close. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We used Julia's apartment as our base of operations during our week in Paris, and it could hardly have been more convenient. With the Metro so nearby, and all the shops, it was like having our own pied a terre. From the Sunday Farmers' Market (best food of our whole vacation) to having a couple of sweet bakeries nearby, to the public transportation options, this was an excellent base camp. The little kitchen was all that we needed, and the washer made things very convenient. The photos tell you all you need to know. It's a street-level apartment, very quiet, with average beds. The price was right, and we'll probably stay here the next time we're in Paris, and that's the best compliment we can give.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Quiet location, good shopping, fine neighborhood, a quiet side street 10min from Denfert, 15min from Alesia, right next to a great bus to city centre (recommended!).The apartment is probably what you might expect for what we paid: adequate but not excellent. It is pretty dark, as others have posted: LR/kitchen windows are huge but drapes ("day curtains") must remain closed unless you don't mind having folks see directly inside from the street; also these windows can only be opened safely when you are in the front room so fresh air is limited (again, unless you don't mind being open to the street). At night you must close/lock these windows for security, as bedrooms are in back....and the bedrooms are dark. This apt has little direct sunlight. The kitchen was acceptable, but in our opinion, not as good as expected. The bathroom: shower was difficult to use without soaking the floor--4 adults each had the same problem and so the room never dried out completely for the entire week...and we kept the ventilator fan on as much as possible. Hopefully this has been addressed, but it was a nuisance. Other furnishing were adequate but unremarkable.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Your stay was in May 2012. Some things have since been changed, replaced or repaired. I did realised that the old "day" curtains were opaque and made the flat dim. We have since changed to transparent voile which gives privacy and lots of light and we are very happy with it now. The 2nd set of curtain blocks out all lights. With the 2 sets there is no need to close the window shutters at night now. What a vast change it made! I consider my apartment pretty well equipped for its price: wifi, cable tv, even free phone calls, a washer, large fridge, oven/micro-wave, coffee maker, toaster, good quality cooking wares, utensils....and a large flat screen TV. Also unlimited hot water for big group is very important. I am usually very happy to add on stuff and improve the flat and the guests' comfort and thus more business! Naturally its better if I am informed whilst you are still there. My Chipendale mirror, Victorian table and various paintings give my flat some character instead of the usual Ikea furniture. Some people may not know how to appreciate such stuff which I understand, so then just enjoy the cleanliness, quiet, convenient and safe location. Do drop in to witness the difference one day when you come this way.

We stayed only one night as it was booked after that, but Julia rented us another apartment for the rest of our stay. Julia was very kind and helpful! Roomy apartment, enough for our family of 5. (Family plus grandma.) Bakery on the corner! The apt is on the first floor so very easy for grandma and our daughter's wheelchair/stroller. Plenty of sleeping space for everyone with beds and sofa bed. Close to Metro. My only negatives are that it's very dark....needs more lighting inside; and the bathroom was "surface clean," but there is mold on the ceiling. All in all, we would stay here again and definitely recommend it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I thought I should high-light the fact that we were in the process of renovating the bathroom during that period of time. The bathroom ventilation was wrongly fixed which caused the humidity to rise up to the ceiling causing the moulds. We are glad that the it completely repaired and repainted as of 18 March 2013. As for the lighting, we have put in another set of lights in the living room. It is our pleasure to improve the condition as we continue the rental.

We stayed over Christmas and New Year 2012/13 and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet location and the Metro and local shops close by including a great Boulangerie on the corner. The apartment is fully equiped with everything you need including a washing machine. It was warm and cosy and having wifi was a plus. The only disappointment with Paris this time was that there was no fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on New Years Eve. Everyone was very disappointed. But hey there is plenty to always do and see in Paris and with Alessia and Plaisance metros close by this is a wonderful place to see all of Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed in this apartment for about 10 days with my mum and two teenage boys. We wanted to experience living in Paris and really felt that we were. Everything was very close and easy to get to. The bakery, supermarket, post office, shopping was all on our walk to the metro station that was just a few minutes walk. The boys loved having fresh crepes in the morning and flan for dessert in the evening. The apartment worked wonderful for us and Julie was most accommodating before and during our visit. We had an amazing vacation and truly felt that we were living in Paris. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for everything Julie.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We loved our stay in this apartment. It's exactly as described - pictures portray it nicely. Very clean, very quiet, nicely decorated. It's on the ground floor, so there are no stairs to climb. Windows can be secured against unauthorized access. Four or five GREAT bakeries within two easy blocks, along with other handy stores. Two separate subway lines are a 3-5 minute walk from the apartment. Small street market two blocks away. Julia was really responsive and helpful both before our arrival and during our stay. I highly recommend this apartment - am hoping to stay there again myself, the next time I'm in Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in Julia's apartment for 6 days in October 2010. The apartment comfortably accommodated five of us (all adults). It was really cute and cozy and had all the necessities in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The 10 min walk from metro Alesia was very pleasant. You pass lots of little stores, boutiques, cafes, etc. You get a taste of a life in a typical Parisian neighborhood. The Monoprix supermarket is couple of blocks away (also on the way from metro) – a convenient stop on the way home after a day of sightseeing to pick up some food and wine for supper. And of course the boulangerie/patisserie in the corner! We had a fresh baguette and croissants every morning. I certainly recommend this place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our group of three stayed at this apartment and found it to be wonderful. It was clean, quiet and had everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay. It is also easy and fast to get to the tourist areas of Paris by Metro, if that is what you are looking to do. The 14e district has great shopping and restaurants too, without all of the crowds of other areas of Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
