Why the Owner Chose Ouray
We first drove through Ouray over thirty years ago. We were young then, and had very little money or assets. My wife and I both vowed that one day we would own a home in Ouray.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home in Ouray, Colorado sits on the side of a mountain about 30-40 ft above the Uncompaghre River, so we can sit on the porch during the day and watch it wend its way along, and we can doze off in the evening to its soothing song.
Owner's Map of Ouray
We own four vacation homes, two in Colorado, and two on the Texas Coast. We enjoy visiting our homes, and we enjoy hearing back from our guests.

We recently returned from a week-long stay at the River-View Cabin. The owner was great to work with; excellent communications and follow-up to my questions, thanks! It's a very cozy place, but spacious at the same time. Privacy is great, a nice place to relax on the swinging chair or bench in the yard, with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Hiking trails are nearby, no need to drive to trail heads. We hiked the Ouray Perimeter Trail, an easy walk from the cabin. Other trails are nearby also. We really appreciated that we could bring our dog Rocky along! There are not many places this nice that allow dogs. The only thing I would have liked is some sort of garage (we got snowed on, and our truck was frosted over most mornings . . . cold!) but I still give it a 5-star overall rating, highly recommended!
Owner response:Hi Ron, Thanks for you nice review of our Riverview Cabin. I hope to see you return soon.

Six friends recently enjoyed this wonderful cabin. It is magical. From the rockers on the porch, you can watch and listen to the river, and with the windows open at night, the sounds of the river put you to sleep. The cabin is very comfortable - the owners have done an incredible job of making this like walking into a home. Every thing was in the cabin that we could possibly want. It is very convenient and is only a short walk into town for the springs, dinner, and shopping. A truly lovely place!!!!

This is our 4th year to return and we are already booked for next year. We tell the owners every year there is nothing else to do to make it better, then they do something else. To make it better! This year it's the wonderful rocker/gliders surely made in Colorado? and the glider in the yard. Perfect, perfect, for curling up with a book on a rainy day (inside) or just daydreaming (outside). This year the little ones were playing barefooted in the yard, climbing up to the bench they named the "view bench", or picking raspberries on the hillside. Again, the teenagers are so happy to just hang out on the covered deck or sleep till noon in the loft, knowing they can connect with all their friends any time they want. And, again, we played Hoopla and Boggle and Rook and bananagrams around the big dining table. There is TV, but who needs it? Until next year!
Owner response:Hi Dr D, We enjoy so much having a continuing rental relationship with you. You always make us feel like we are doing the right thing with our house. Thanks...

We are in our last days here at the cabin ... It has been a nice experience ... I have talked to the owner twice since arriving ... The only complaint would of been the mix up with the keys when we got here ... They were to be waiting for us at the management office and were not , but that is only minor and takes away nothing from our satisfaction ... The cabin is breath taking inside and out and the owner has made sure that there is everything you would want or need in your stay in the cabin ... The selection of TV programs are minimal , but we were here on vacation and that was no problem ... The kids enjoyed the loft and both were laughing and enjoying their computers , running up and down stairs ... The beds were surprisingly comfortable and in the hot days of Ouray in the middle of July , maybe 78 degrees , you open up a couple of windows and its nice again ... We grilled out 3 times on the built in grill and set out at the side on the swing , which was nice ... The owner had just purchased new furniture before we got here and the 2 rustic log gliders in the living room are comfortable and my wife is now looking for some to put at our cabin at home ... We found them in downtown Ouray , but have bought enough souvenirs we haven't the room in the truck in going home ... Ouray is a real nice town with endless things to do and we enjoyed all the trails with our atv's ... The driveway at the cabin is challenging , but I have a King Cab truck pulling a 16' trailer , so this was my fault ... The drive and the parking area is quite large ... If bringing atv's , there is an area at the bottom of the dirve in which I could drop the trailer , so it worked out fine ... All and all I would give it a 10 and we already talked to the owner about coming back next year ...
Owner response:Hi Keith, Thanks for the great review. I have already processed your reservation for next year. We add some improvements each year, and have done so for 11 years now, so when you come next you will find our home even nicer...

We have rented this wonderful place for 4 years now. I can't believe I've never reviewed it....well, I can, because I truly have reluctance to have it discovered. We were looking for the quintessential cabin in the woods but with all the amenities of home and we have found it. And we get to hear the river at night and walk to the Hot Springs in less than 5 minutes, and walk to town in a few more. We sit on the deck and have our coffee in the morning. The little ones find wild strawberries on the hillside. We play board games around the huge dining table. The teenagers hang out in the loft playing their computer games. There is something for everyone--outdoor spaces, indoor spaces, open spaces, nooks and window seats, games and movies, TV if you absoluetely must have it, and always the river and the views. Our youngest ones call it their "My-Ray House". We pull up in front and can't believe we're back. The first year we stayed a week, the second and third years we stayed for two weeks. This year we have it for three and we already know that won't be long enough. In fact, why am I reviewing this? I would rent it for the season if I could! Riverview has every single thing you could want and much more. The response of the owners in Texas and the property managers has always been immediate and completely satisfactory. Everyone we've invited who has come to visit us wants to know when we're returning and have they been invited to join us again (Yes, there's room!). This is not a condo! This is a house in a magical setting with ambience and views (Mt. Abrams, unbelievable) and it feels like our summer home.
Owner response:Hi Donna, It really pleases us that you have chosen to return to our log home for many successive years now. Your choosing to return each year convinces us that we have created a special place. Thanks for your kind words, and we will see you next year...

My family & I love coming here to relax from all the people & traffic in the Allata area. It is so nice to just sit outside & listen to the peace & quiet of the nature. My husband set up his camera & took over 100 pictures one afternoon of just the humming birds coming to the feeders. The hot springs is a great way to relax in the evening. The best part of our trip (which we always drive the 28 hrs to get here), is seeing the snow in the mountain pass & the view of Ouray as you come in on the million dollar highway We have been coming since 2004 & only missed 1 year. Can't wait for our next trip here.
Owner response:Hi Patti, Thanks for the kind words. Hope to see you in 2011...
