Casa Hortencias is a beautiful private home with amazing views and your own roof-top swimming pool just above "Old Town" Puerto Vallarta, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and Los Muertos beach. Two bedroom suites with private baths, a third queen bedroom and two additional half baths.
This home has now been renting for over 10 years and is booked almost all the time. We run a very professional business, maintain our homes very well and provide excellent service for your stay. I don't keep up the calendars on my homes because it's just too difficult. Just email with your dates. If this home is not available, one of my others might be.
A special feature of Casa Hortencias is the roof-top recreation area with barbecue grill, half bath, seating areas in the sun and shade, and beautiful private swimming pool with amazing views of the ocean, beaches, and Puerto Vallarta.
Professionally-designed interiors with beautiful furnishing and accessories. Modern kitchen with granite countertops which makes entertaining a joy.
You can walk to Old Town and Los Muertos beach from all of my homes. It's only a 7 minute walk down the hill. It's the best location in the "real" Puerto Vallarta. If you want to really experience Puerto Vallarta make sure you stay in "Old Town/Romantic Zone" It's the only real Puerto Vallarta
Daily maid service by our own full time maids. Very popular with repeat guests. We tend to book months in advance so plan ahead.
We now have a five alternatives for your vacation if this home is already booked or you need accomodations for a large group. We have a 3 bedroom condo next to our home which will also sleep 6 and has fantastic views of Puerto Vallarta and a two bedroom condo next door which sleeps up to 7, and another three more two bedroom condos. Please inquire through this listing and visit our website for pictures of the condos. Many larger groups book several of our places to accommodate their group. I also have a 6 bedroom waterfront villa that sleeps 14.
NOTE: I do not keep up my online calendars on my homes. Because I have several homes in Puerto Vallarta, I might be able to accommodate you at the other home if this one is booked. Email is always best as I don't carry my calendar with me when I'm out.

I find myself reminiscing on this trip of a lifetime. We arrived late at night around 10 or so and to our surprise the staff was waiting for us. It was breath taking to wake up in the morning and take in the view from the balcony. We enjoyed 7 days of breakfast on the balcony and 5 nights of dinner on the rooftop. I loved that there was only 1 television in the house and Jeff provides plenty of cds for your musical pleasure. The walks up and down the hill were not an inconvenience but merely added to the essence of casa hortencias. Its truely heavenly :D I hope to go back soonRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

July 29 I arrived at Casa Hortencia....and my "mexican family" arrived early the next day. From the moment we entered this house, we felt "at home." Beautifully decorated. Mexican style but not "over the top." Modern kitchen with everything one needs to cook! Stainless steal appliances, granite, and high end pots/pans. Washer and dryer in the house and much needed! I can't tell you how beautiful the view is. I miss it already! Overlooking the bay-spectacular at night and in the daytime. Feels like you are in the jungle with natural sounds all night long. Parrots, etc visiting you on the veranda-not to mention iguanas (harmless). The staff is excellent, and not "in the way." The owner ensures that everything is done right and the staff are respectful and eager to please. This is a home, not a house. Loving touches everywhere. This was the first time I rented a house (vs hotel) and it was a great choice. I plan to return again, in the very near future. I brought my small dog Lola and she thoroughly felt at home. There is plently fo space, all the comforts of home - more towels than you can ever use! I could go on and on, but it was a RELAXING and memorable vacation for everyone. I would highly recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

My two friends and I rented Casa Hortencias for my 60th birthday, hoping for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration in a vacation-spot-of-our-dreams. We were not disappointed. Jeffrey was a delightful host and very helpful with restaurant recommendations for my special event, etc. The house is perched on the hillside with beautiful views and is not only comfortable, but deliciously decorated. There are places to get away from one another, and places to get together and have fun. The house is located up a pretty steep hill, but no fear, if you don't want to take the walk. The taxi drivers of PV were great at zipping up and down, at very reasonable cost and all hours of the day and night. We found them courteous and convenient. It made Casa Hortencias a bit of a retreat from the hectic daily PV traffic, and still kept PV within easy access, no matter the time of day. I'd love to visit again. And I'm certain Jeffrey would be my first choice as a host. Thanks for making my birthday a special one.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Jeffrey and staff were accommodating, professional and friendly. Casa Hortensias was charming with beautiful views of Puerto Vallarta. I would recommend this property to guests that enjoy a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of downtown yet close enough to walk or taxi to all the lovely "to-do's" Puerto Vallarta has to offer. We got a tour of Casa Romantico - 2bd 2 ba (Jeffrey's other property); it is beautiful!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

My family and I enjoyed a 10 day stay in March, 2010 at Casa Hortencias. The house is attractive, clean and very comfortable for a family of four (mother, father and two teenaged sons). The first floor and roof top views out over the bay were stunning. The owner and house staff were very helpful and friendly and greatly increased our overall enjoyment of the property. We spent a lot of time in the roof top pool. We also walked into Old Town everyday, either to buy a few additional groceries, go out for a restaurant meal, enjoy a cocktail on the beach or to catch a water taxi to Yelapa or other beautiful destinations. Another highlight of our trip was visiting the Botanical Gardens. We had a delicious lunch at the on site restaurant and went swimming in a fresh water stream that cuts through the property. Casa Hortencias was a wonderful spot for our energetic family, with older children. The path down the hill into town, while steep, was o.k. for us and gave us daily exercise. We also took advantage of the excellent, inexpensive taxis. We were occasionally aware of Spring Break parties and noise but we realized that is part of the Mexico experience in March. My family talks fondly of our vacation in Puerto Vallarta and our stay at Casa Hortencias. We would definitely recommend the property to individuals/families that want to experience more of the local flavor of Puerto Vallarta rather than staying at the more impersonal high-rise compounds on the beach.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Hi from Denver Co, couples K & E and J & D! What a classy house! We enjoyed all the lavish ameneites just as we did when we vacationed in your Fort Lauderdale home. Thanks for sharing your homes with us! This was our first trip to PV and we loved it, especially our dolphin encounter and the great ceviche and mango dacqueries. We were sad to leave but will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

It saddens our hear to be leaving this beautiful, peaceful place tomorrow. Vallarta is a very special place to me, filled with many memories. I will most definitely tuck away fond thoughts of this gourgeouse casa in a sacred place. I very thoroughly enjoyed feeding the cats and dogs every day and I encountered other that do so as well! Many of these animals can oly get by due to the kindness of starangers. Thank you Leti (my maid) for all you do. Peace, love and lightDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Jeffery, You are very generous to let us borrow your warm and welcoming house. It clearly holds some special memories for you and not it does for us as too. There is not much I can add to what my family have already written. As you can see, we have had a terrific experience. I can think of nowhere better to celebrate Anno Nuevo. Our favorite meals out, for reference, were Joe Jack's, Cafe de Artistes, and Archies Wok but probably the best meal was Maria's paella here in the villa. I have had paella in Spain, Portugal, Majorca and St. Martin in the FVI but never better than Maria's. We hope to stay with you again and meet you sometime. Have a healthy and prosperous 2009. Regards.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Puerto Vallarta is my favorite holiday spot. It's warm, sunny, the people are charming, and anywhere you go there is a great atmosphere. Now to that list, I can add this house. I will remember everything from Maria and Leti's fabulous cooking to the mariachi band walking down the street collecting money. Every time my family comes to Mexico we always worry about weight because of all the delicious food. But with the walk to and from the beach and down to dinner, I'm pretty sure we are all lighter than when we got here. Anyway, thank you very much for letting us stay in your amazing house. I have had so much fun and will surely never forget.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jeffery I'll start by saying that from the moment we arrived ,one of the first things we encountered was your "guide" book. I can't tell you how helpful it was throughout the week. From your food suggestions to the general instructions, it was just great. Kudos! Your home is fantastic and Leti does a wonderful job keeping it up. We could not be more thankful to her for all of her hard work. Additionally , the nostalgia is at the least. noticeable. I'm sure that Jimmy would be as happy as you are to share the "foundation" with us and all the other guests here. Thank you and we look forward to future visits. Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: I'm a youthful, active 53 year old retired designer who purchsed this home in 1999. Since that time I have purchased three other homes in Puerto Vallarta and also have a vacation home in Fort Lauderdale/Wilton Manors Florida. All my homes are run very professionally to provide you great service in a safe, clean, comfortable envirionment. When not traving to my homes I travel in a 38' Motorhome. I'm somewhat of a gypsy. It's great life. I also rent homes for a few good friends who have vacation rental properties and don't have time to rent on their own. I will try to help find the best match for your and your group.
Why the Owner Chose Romantic Zone:
Puerto Vallarta is an amazing town. Make sure you stay in the "real" Puerto Vallarta in Old Town/Romantic Zone. Here you will experience the real charm of Mexico. Old Town is where those who love Puerto Vallarta return each year. Old Town is a great mix of open minding fun interesting people. It's where straight and gay, young and old, black, white and brown, all mix to create a fun and festive enviroment. This area has a huge variety of restaurants. There is something for everyone. If you love people watching and meeting all kinds of people, this is the place.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Casa Hortencias is on the hill above Old Town/Romantic Zone. You walk down the hill and you are in town or on the beach. If you don't want to walk back up, just grab a cab for about $4.00. It only takes a couple minutes.
By being on the hill you get the great ocean breezes and avoid all the loud noise of downtown throughout the night. The home has amazing views, wonderful furnishings and everything you need to experience Puerto Vallarta as though it was your own home. It's just a great home. Casa Hortencias has been renting for 10 years now and it only gets better each year.
