Backing onto the Playacar golf course, Villa Balam is located in the upscale gated and secure community of Playacar in Playa del Carmen. Villa Balam is an 1800-square foot, three-storey, privately owned villa in the Villas de Santa Fe complex. Air-conditioned with three bedrooms, two and a half baths, this property is tastefully decorated in a blend of contemporary and Mexican décor. Ideally located, this villa is just minutes from the white sand beaches of the Mayan Riviera, Playacar Spa, tennis courts and the Playacar Aviary.
Villa Balam is also located just five minutes from the famous Fifth Avenue, upscale local shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and the ferry to the Island of Cozumel. It is quickly apparent that you can walk everywhere you want to go from Villa Balam and for those that have a vehicle, you will have private and secure off-street parking, right outside the back-door.
On the main floor you will find a sun-filled open concept living area complete with a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast bar, dining area, bathroom and a conveniently located laundry room with washer and dryer.
The second floor includes 2 bedrooms. In the first bedroom you will find a queen size bed and glass doors to a Romeo & Juliet balcony, the other bedroom with 2 twin beds. Each bedroom has a television, ample closet space, and beautiful linens and window coverings. There is also a full bath on this 2nd level.
On the third level you will find the private and spacious master suite. The master suite is complete with a King-size bed, beautiful linens, vaulted beamed ceilings, 27-inch television, built-in wardrobes, full en-suite bath, and sliding glass doors to the private rooftop terrace.

The pathway leads you past a large water fountain and through wonderfully manicured gardens. Your glass patio doors are only steps away from the large shared swimming pool, complete with lounge chairs and a shaded palapas (thatch covered) area where you can read a good book while watching golfers on the Robert von Hagge Championship Golf course.
As a bonus for our guests we make available our Playacar Residents Guest Card, which allows you access to the oceanfront Reef Playacar Hotel, located one block from Villa Balam. At the Reef you may take advantage of the free use of beach or poolside lounge chairs, hammocks, swimming pools, and beach towels (rented for $1 / towel). You may also opt for either the half day or full day all-inclusive discounted packages, which entitle you to meals, snacks, beverages, entertainment, and all non- motorized water sport activities. Please confirm all prices at the hotel and/or golf course.
Housekeeping service is included three days a week at Villa Balam and in case of an emergency or local questions, a bilingual property manager is available.
Transportation to and from the Cancun International Airport may also be arranged.

Villa Ballam is absolutely lovely. My partner and I have been to Mexico fairly regularly over the past dozen years, but this is the first time we were able to include our adult children and their partners. We wanted it to be really great for them, and this villa helped it to be just that! Clean and well maintained, comfortable and spacious, the villa offered plenty of room for the 6 of us to enjoy. So close to everything we wanted to do; from coffee in the morning on the 3rd floor deck, to quick walking access to the beach and 5th Avenue shopping & restaurants, to the soothing coolness of the pool. And it was great to come "home" after the day trips we participated in; everything neat and tidy, blender at the ready! Some of our friends also happened to be in town when we were, and when they dropped in, they were so impressed with the villa, too! I was in charge of meals, and found everything I needed to prepare them in the kitchen. Grocery stores nearby; we chose the Soriano which had everything we needed at a very reasonable price. Maid service 3 times during the week we were there was great and very thorough. Three bathrooms (1 on each floor) were handy for everyone. And the showers are gorgeous with stone tile and lots of room (1 2nd fl, 1 3rd fl). Washer and dryer came in handy, as did the computer. Super friendly and helpful grounds staff. Bedrooms are comfortable w/lots of closet space. A/C works great on all floors! The owners are very organized and helpful in answering about a billion questions! Both before and during our stay! The Reef resort is about a 3 minute walk from the villa. Lots of help available there to catch a cab, arrange transportation, etc. La Parrilla traditional Mexican restaurant was a great intro for the kids, w/serenade by the mariachis during a yummy dinner. The kids surprised us with a gift of a photo of the 4 of them wearing giant sombreros (photo purchased at the restaurant). There's a great little sushi restaurant that the kids tried, too, right at the start of 5th Ave (will post the name later if they can remember it). Great selection and decent pricing reported. Catamaya was a fun 5-hour excursion on a catamaran c/w snorkeling and lobster or steak for lunch. And of course, everyone wanted to try "Xplor" (ziplining, river swims, etc) - huge success. Again, the villa in Playacar seems to be close to everything! About a 20 minute ride to the dock, and about 10 min to Xplor. We would love to stay here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
