We came from 6 different states (GA,MD,DE,NH,TX & NY) to stay on Emerald Isle for our 2009 family reunion. Several homes were rented for the week (ocean front, 2nd row, on the Sound) but the one we gathered in the most was Ship's Quarters East & West (the inlet house). The owners are very gracious and helpful, if you are lucky enough to meet them like we did. Both sides of this duplex are decorated cottage style and are very comfortable, well appointed and spacious. We also enjoyed sitting in the mornings and evenings on the very large decks. The refreshing pool (used daily)is just the right size with plenty of chaise lounge chairs. The best part tho' ~ is the short walk to the ocean and sunsets on the beach in the evening (don't forget to take a chair & cocktail). We've been coming to Emerald Isle for years but had never stayed on the inlet side. We'll definately return and hope to stay in Ship's Quarters again. Thank you for sharing your place! Best, Nancy B. Our family enjoyed one of the best vacations ever at this beautiful cottage. We stayed on the east side and it was beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished. There is absolutely nothing lacking in this cottage. The views are breathtaking from both front and back and the pool is a fantastic place to relax if you don't feel like fighting the sand and wind at the ocean. Access to the ocean is just a short walk and easy to get to. We have stayed all over the island and after staying near the point, I will not stay anywhere else in the future. This is one of the widest beaches you will find on the East Coast. We hope to return next year. I have nothing but positive things to say about both the cottage and communicating with the owners.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This beach house is perfect! My husband and 2 children spent a wonderful week there and thoroughly enjoyed and relaxed at this wonderful home. It is very clean and is very tastefully decorated. It is decorated in bright "beachy" colors and you truly can relax here! The views are amazing as you can see the ocean from the front covered decks and the sound from the back decks. All of the decks have comfortable outdoor furniture and we enjoyed all our evening meals on the upper deck table overlooking the sound. It was so peaceful. It is a very short walk to the beach with two beach accesses close by. We enjoyed many evening sunsets down at the point. The kids loved the pool! We spent many afternoons enjoying it. There is an outdoor grill, shower, porch swing and is beatifully landscaped. The owners were an absolute pleasure to deal with and were more than helpful. I hope to spend a week next summer at this house. It is everything you would need for a perfect beach vacation. It is 5 minutes from grocery stores and restaurants. We couldn't have been more happy with our vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is the nicest rental house I've ever stayed in! Actually, it's more like a home than a house. Beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable, and pristine. Favorites: the view of the sunset from the back deck, and the view of the ocean from the front. One of the bedrooms held all three of my kids, and they especially enjoyed the basketball goal in the driveway, the gametable in the family room, and the pool! AWESOME vacation spot!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you are looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful home right on the beach....this is it! My family (including 4 children - and 5 adults) spent a week in Emerald Isle in August of 2006. We rented half of the duplex which sleeps 11. For larger families or extended families, you could rent both sides. About the home itself - Immaculate - very well maintained. Professionally decorated. Kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Barbecue and charcoal grills Outdoor shower Relaxing Pool - very clean! Decks on both levels (front and back) with gorgeous views - furnished with wicker rockers and plenty of comfortable seating. Laundry conveniently located on the same floor as 3/4 bedrooms. Great Large Screen TV. Our favorite things about this home were all of the decks (off bedrooms, kitchen, living room....), the hammock in a great shady spot off the pool, and the large porch swing (great place to read a book, the pool and easy acess to the beach. Convenient round table in the living room - great for playing games or cards. Location - situated perfectly between the sound and ocean with views of both. Very convenient to get to the foodstore, shops, restaurants. The Beach - who needs front row when you can stay on a second row home perfectly situated in between the two oceanfront homes...great view! Only a 2 minute walk to the beach (most of the walk is getting to the water itself as EI has very large dunes...but with easy access..using a deck/walkway. From the back of the home there are no other houses - only the coast guard...you can see them going in and out on boats! Family oriented beach! Lots of great shelling if this is something you like to do(particularly at the point). Clean beaches! Watch the sunset at the point. We're not into fishing, but if you are...this is apparently a great spot for just that! Property owners - very friendly. It was a pleasure dealing with them. They went out of their way to answer any questions we had ahead of time and left us with contact #'s should we have any questions or issues during our stay. We would definitely love to rent from them again - perhaps next time we'll bring more family and take advantage of renting both sides! Value - great value! Lots of home at a very reasonable rate.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Emerald Isle:
After coming to Emerald Isle with our family for several years, we visited the Point area. We loved the area so much we decided to buy a house there. It is the most secluded, quiet and beautiful part of the island! A great place to ride bikes, with the ocean on one side and the sound around the corner. The beach at the point is the widest part of the island, with great fishing and sunsets. Once you stay on this end of the island, I can guarantee that you will never want to go anywhere else! All of our renters have agreed and come back often.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The large private pool with very large deck area is a great place for a family gathering. There is a covered patio adjacent to the pool for added shade. The views are some of the best on the island, with ocean views from 2 front decks and sound views from 2 covered back decks. Watch the ocean on one deck, and move to the back decks to watch sunsets, deer in the backyard, or enjoy the view of the Coast Guard Station and boats in the sound.
