Rated a 10 as my best vacation ever

Guest: Elizabeth
Date of Stay: 12/18/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

South Andros and the Andros Beach Club were exactly what I needed, quiet relaxing time away, white sand beaches, friendly people and adventure. Jesse made sure I was safe, secure and had everything I needed for a perfectly relaxing, no stress 2 week get away. I have been around the world with all the hussle and bustle but Andros was calm, enveloping, endearing with kind Bahamians and pure pleasure. I will return one day and highly reccommend this location to anyone wanting a combination of relaxation and adventure.

I spent Thanksgiving week at the all inclusive Andros Beach Club with my closest friends and had the time of my life. The weather was amazing, with highs in the 80's and lows in the 70's, with a constant ocean breeze. We couldn't ask for better weather. The private beach was amazingly beautiful and serene. I really enjoyed taking walks along the beach with the dogs. The dogs were very well sweet and well behaved. Jesse and Chelsea were very accommodating. The food was amazing. I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to spend Thanksgiving, with a full homemade turkey dinner. The trip was full of wonderful dinners, lobster pasta with homemade garlic bread, homemade pizza, bohemian pigeon (which tasted way better then I thought it would). Chelsea is a wonderful cook and bakes the best bread in the world. At the local restaurant, right down the beach, I had a delicious and affordable lobster lunch. The trip was also full of adventures. Jesse was very professional and made me very comfortable on our dive trips. He certified me for scuba and now I can take that knowledge with me on future vacations. We snorkeled and scuba dived at these beautiful reefs and blue holes just a short boat ride off shore. I was amazed by the marine life and the beautiful coral. We took a hike to 3 inland blue holes, were we able to cliff jumped into the the last hole. I was a little nervous to jump at first, but that's the best part of adventure, overcoming the fear and doing it anyway. It was so fun i did it twice. This trip was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. I highly recommend staying at Andros Beach Club for anyone who wants great food, and great adventure in one of the most beautiful and relaxing islands in the Bahamas. I hope to return as soon as possible. Thank you Jesse and Chelsea for the hospitality and hard work you put in to make our trip amazing.

Just what we needed

I discovered Andros Beach Club via random chance (sometimes you should talk to the person in the seat next to you). My fiancé and I went to the Bahamas with no plan intact. We had our moment in touristy Nassau, and discovered that South Andros Island is exactly what the doctor ordered. Jesse and Chelsea are amazing hosts. Their relaxed nature, the excellent food, and their lovely beach dogs (hi duke and rileuy) were just a touch to the amazing house. We woke up every morning to the sun rising over the Ocean and into our room. The beach was miles of nothing and particularly gorgeous on a Blue Moon. We decided to get certified in Scuba with Jesse and had an amazing time. Jesse and Roggi took us to some amazing Blue Holes. The coral is spectacular and the creatures were gorgeous. On our route back, Roggi caught us some lobster and conch (which made an amazing meal that night). We had an amazing time, and we really want to head back to try our hand at spearfishing!

SLEEPY DESTINATION, STUNNING BEACH, WITH TERIFFIC

Guest: Randy
Date of Stay: 10/24/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

I am just returning from Andros Beach Club in South Andros and had a very pleasurable experience.. I have been fishing up on North Andros on multiple occassions... Needless to say, I was very eager for my first visit to South Andros... After some quick research, Andros Beach Club, became my choice.... Mostly in part to the immediate response from Jesse... We exchanged a few emails over a short period of time... The night before my departure, I got a phone call from Jesse, which I thought was very thoughtful and pretty cool... Jesse had arranged for car service to bring us to ABC... He also gave us some good advice to stop at the beverage depot on our quick ride down to ABC... Upon our arrival, we found a very cozy cottage... Our hosts, Jesse and Chelsea, were waiting for us and showed us around in short order... We settled in right away... On the beach, it felt as though we were on our own island... Having no phone service(which is a great thing) we were able to call back to the U.S from ABC whenever we wanted...For the most part, our days were spent away from the ABC fishing... Jesse drove us to and from the Driggs Hill dock, everyday to meet up with our fishing guide... We were fortunate to bring home fresh fish for meals... Oh the meals were great!!! Spiny Lobster with homemade pasta, Grilled Snapper with plantains, veggies and coconut milk, fried grouper, conch fritters and our last meal, a fresh snapper fish sandwich with bahamian cheddar on Chelsea's fresh bread... We had a hot breakfast every morning, to our request.... There was a cooler with food, drinks and snacks for us to take fishing.... Jesse and Chelsea took very good care of us... I felt a bit spoiled at times listening to music from the available Direct TV, while the sweet aroma from the kitchen wafted through our most humble abode...We got to play some poker and dominoes with Jesse and Chelsea...I'm pretty sure I was taken advantage of - HAHAHA!!!! Duke and Riley are a pair of the cleanest, friendliest and most relaxed dogs I've ever seen...I did not see one dog hair, anywhere... They are odorless, harmless and did i already say relaxed...All in all, we were very happy with the ABC... I hope you get the picture and even consider the ABC for a stop on South Andros

Comfortable, Relaxing, and Accomodating

Guest: Gary
Date of Stay: 10/14/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

Myself and 2 friends stayed at the Andros Beach Club in mid Ocotober for 4 days. Jesse and Chelsea were more than accomodating to us. We origninally sought out this area for scuba diving and relaxation. We found all this and more. The food prepared everyday was incredible. The diving experience was great. Catching your own food and having it prepared that same day, made for some great food as well. I can't say enough about how flexible Jesse and Chelsea were with whatever we decided to do each day and whatever time we decided to get around to doing it. They were truly a joy to meet and spend time with as well. I would highly recommend the Andros Beach Club to anyone looking to kick back, relax, scuba dive, fish, or explore a relatively untouched island in the Bahamas. I would best describe the Andros Beach Club as a Bed and Breakfast type atmosphere is a great location with all-inclusive type service.

Hospitality at its best on Andros Island

Guest: Lance
Date of Stay: 10/12/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

Myself and 2 dive buddies arrived on Andros Island and were greeted by The most friendly face in our cab driver. Upon arrival at the Andros Beach Club we were greeted by Jessie and Chelsea with the start of what would be the standard of hospitality. There was an amazing spin/art dip and the lovely golden bread the Chelsea bakes; and is famous for on the island. When it was mentioned to anyone they knew of her amazing knack for baking. Food is very important in a vacation for me, the Leapold's are wonderful cooks and even aren't too proud to ask for advice once hey found out that I had been in a chef for years. However; they did need my help to serve wonderful meals the entire time we were with them; just 4 days...not near enough time! As for the accommodations, the house was very comfortable and we were made to feel very much at home. Their home was our home, from the word go. The diving, is what brought us to Andros, was spectacular. Jessie made us very comfortable, and took us to dive sites at our choice. He would make sure that we were given options as to what we wanted to do and once we decided; he and his dive partner; Rogey made sure that we had the best time. They even took all of us spear finishing for our first time. We dove for conch, it was all an amazing experience, that I will be back to experience again!

A tropical charmer!

Date of Stay: 09/15/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

Just returned from a 9 night stay at Andros Beach Club with my sister and her 2 adult girls. From the get go Jessie gets an A+ for communication. We started planning this trip in March and any questions were answered with clarity and very rapidly. We went for all the activities ABC had to offer except fishing. This time of year the weather is HOT and the water fantastically warm. But, we knew that going into it. The scuba diving was beautiful. Healthy coral reefs and good vis especially considering the high winds we experienced for a few days. The full moon was awesome as were the sunrises. It's a pleasure to witness and experience the way Chelsea and Jessie work together to make your stay a memorable one. They're both excellent cooks, hospitable, and go out of their way to accommodate any requests. Their 2 well cared for and very friendly dogs, Duke and Riley just add to the comfortable relaxed atmosphere of the place. The place is rustic, colorful, clean and comfortable with outstanding views and an amazingly beautiful beach all to yourself. I was particularly taken with the green/blue green color of the water and the lavender horizon. When the water was too rough to go out Jessie arranged an inland tour with Ed. The hike took us along a rustic path through the forest all the while Ed is pointing out which trees to touch or not to touch, plants used to make tea with etc. Also saw butterflies, egrets, huge ants nests and a gorgeous snake. Took a dip in one of the blue holes after which we ate fresh coconut water, coconut meat, and local fruit. That day was topped off with batiking our own fabric back at his wife Emily's studio. The following day Emily dyed and processed our fabric for us and Ed delivered it to us before our departure home. What's not to like about Andros Beach Club? Having to leave! Thanks for a wonderful vacation! Kitty T.

Turning bad into good

Guest: Robert
Date of Stay: 08/19/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

My plan for my eight day stay was to spearfish alternating with exploring the interior. S. Andros has a very large unexplored forest area which with Jesse and his Dad's help we would take a look at. Jesse and his wife Chelsea were my hosts. I had a good first day spearing at a site called "The Buoy" which is over 5-6000 feet of water at the edge of the tongue of the ocean. Visuals were great and included a 6 foot lemon shark or, mebbe, a silkie shark who followed me around. Jesse and Roggie did good work attracting fish including including hanging flashers and scattering chum, and I'll be back. The next day I was injured early in a forest trek. It involved 7 stitches in my knee and no more water sports. I could have packed up, but Jesse and Chelsea went way out of their way to assure my entertainment and comfort. We toured by car and boat various back roads, islands, farms, restaurants, Etc. The ghost town is a very cool photo op if you're up for some touring. They fixed GREAT meals and Chelsea's desserts are the best! Two other members of the Leopold family are Riley and Duke, my two favorite dogs. They were very concerned about my wound and sniffed it thoroughly when I had the stitching done and bandaged. And when I had the bandage remove, Duke licked the stitches to be sure it healed properly. You'll not find another lodge with that kinda service and it seemed to have worked. I hope and am planning to be returning soon.

Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

We found Andros Beach Club when we were looking for a place to stay that was off the beaten path but had lots of activities to do. This was perfect! We settled into a routine of having a tasty breakfast, doing something fantastic and exciting in the morning (fishing, diving, snorkeling), eating a delicious lunch, resting and reading during the heat of the early afternoon, and snorkeling along the beach out back in the afternoon before finishing with another amazing meal. We felt at home and welcome, and we never worried about logistics. Jesse and Chelsea are the perfect hosts. They’ll make sure you get to do whatever it is you plan to do, and they’re fun to be around. The dogs, Duke and Riley, are fun companions, too. They’re happy to add you to the family! Chelsea was great at finding out our favorite foods and surprising us with them the next day. The activities they led were fun and exciting, and we had every confidence in their plans. If you want fun, excitement, and relaxation without the crowds but with friendly and outgoing people, this is the place!

Laid-back fun

Date of Stay: 06/15/10 Review Submitted: 02/05/11

Jesse and Chelsea do a terrific job with their beach club. This is a very laid back place and island, so if you need a lot of nightlife, fancy hotels and action, this is not the place for you. In essence, you are staying in their home. The club is a single building with two bedrooms. We stayed in the larger one, and I would say that is the better choice - more spacious and private. The two rooms share a common living room, kitchen and veranda. It is quite open, so if you want a very private room and situation, go elseshwere. Chelsea does a wonderful cooking job - simple, delicious food and plenty of it! Meals are served family style on the veranda. She will always check with you to find out what you do and don't like and does her best to accommodate special requests given a limited source of goods on the island. Stock up with any liquor needs you may have on the way from the airport. We went to dive and despite too much wind and rough conditions, it was great. The reef is in excellent shape - as good as we've seen in Belize. Blue hole diving was a trip, especially where we encountered 3-4 nurse sharks hanging around just inside the hole. Jesse is knowledgeable and careful in his diving and works hard to give you a great time. Then there is the beach - miles of powder white sand with nary a soul to be seen. Perfect for long walks, looking for shells and swimming in shallow water at low tide. Just know that everywhere you go, so do Duke and Riley, the Club's dogs. They are friendly and fun, but if you don't like dogs, you may find this bothersome.

Our hosts were gracious, the rooms airy and comfortable, and the beach was gorgeous, and we usually had it all to ourselves. We opted for a modified food plan where we cooked breakfast and lunch for ourselves, and then ate out at one of the local restaurants each night. Activities we engaged in were snorkeling, diving, hiking and bicycling. Even when it rained, the house is well stocked with games and DVD's, so we were never bored. Beautiful, beautiful location! Would definitely go back.

We just got back a few days ago, What more can be said than what's already been said out here? A wonderful house on a private ( PRIVATE!) four-mile beach. Very surreal, really wonderful. We stayed ten days and could've stayed longer. Jesse is a wonderful, hands-off host - the house really does become yours after a day or so. Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen, great porch w/hammocks...Enough stuff to keep you in the real world - wireless, rooms with A/C, cable tv - if you need them, of course! But this really is the getaway of getaways. You can snorkel, scuba, go fishing. We took a tour of the Blue Holes and learned about medicinal plants along the way (ask about the plants Stiffcock and Grannybush!). This may have been the most relaxing vacation we've ever had. Jesse has two dogs who were joined by a third a few days in. They became part of our little world; lovely creatures, friendly, warm....I went swimming at 4:30am under a blanket of stars with one of them...they made our stay. That beach! The upside has a downside, depending on what you're looking for. Andros is a lovely place, but there is no there there. Nothing to do; the 'straw market' is a shack behind a woman's house. Restaurants? A few, but mostly fried fish and mixed veg (frozen), although we had a great meal of ribs at one place. The grocery gets deliveries on Tuesdays, and we were able to get supplies. We brought lots with us - it really is a DIY type of island. Bring breakfast stuff, snacks...rice dishes, anything portable. You can get milk, eggs, etc, from the grocery store. Plan on cooking 90% of your meals. Did I mention that beach?!? The title of this review is Gilligan's Island, and that's what it felt like. If you are looking for the off-the-beaten path vacation of vacations, this one's for you. Jesse, if you're out there reading this, give Duke, Riley, and their friend (we called him 'Black') a big hug from us, please! And, oh yeah: WE'RE COMING BACK.

A perfect get away. Always looking for a unique way to travel, my fiancé and I finally decided to ditch the hostels and overnight buses, and to lie around on the beach. The Andros Beach Club, run by Jesse and Chelsea, is perfect for those looking to avoid the big, loud and ubiquitous resorts of the Caribbean. The house is situated on a amazing white-sand beach with seemingly no neighbors. The accommodations are incredibly comfortable and clean. Activities include: fishing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling to mind-boggling blue holes teeming with fish, volleyball, badminton, swimming in frighteningly clear water, or just laying on your private beach. Jesse is a scuba diving instructor, and without planning to ahead of time, my girlfriend and I got our open water certification. The individual attention of Jesse, the great dive sites, and the ease with which everything was arranged, made this a perfect place to learn to dive. Are we coming back? – Do you really have to ask?

My recent vacation to the Andros Beach Club was a trip I will always remember. Andros Beach Club, located on the laid back island of South Andros is a hidden gem. It is a perfect place to kick back and relax, as well as a place to be active and see beautiful sights. I traveled to Andros with a few friends and though we did heaps of fun and relaxing activities, we still didn’t see everything Andros has to offer(so we will have to go back again soon!) At Andros Beach Club I was able to completely relax and forget about work and the stresses from home! Whether I was reading on one of the hammocks, relaxing under the beach cabana with the spectacular ocean view, or just sleeping in a lounging chair on the beach, I was always perfectly at ease. In addition to loving the tranquil environment, I also was able to enjoy many fun and interesting activities. At the Beach Club I had the opportunity to explore the local reefs by snorkeling (and my more adventurous friends explored even more when Jesse took them scuba diving!) The fish and coral in the ocean surrounding Andros are breathtaking; I never wanted to leave the water! Jesse started us out in some shallow areas and as we grew more confident, he brought us out to deeper spots, where we were able to see even more shockingly bright fish and amazing sights. My friends and I had very different levels of experience and we all loved our time in the water, so I can confidently say it is a perfect spot for both beginners and experienced snorkelers and divers. Members of our group also enjoyed dinners out, bike riding, fishing, using the telescope to look at the stars from the roof, and one of my personal favorites- bocce on the beach! They also have wireless internet and a TV, but as we enjoyed wonderful weather we found we didn’t use these things too much! Jesse and Chelsea are wonderful hosts, and are always eager to help you with anything you want to do. They helped my friends and I get food and drinks from local stores, go scuba diving, snorkeling, shopping for souvenirs, eat local cuisine in nearby restaurants and explore the island by boat, foot and bike. My vacation was everything I wanted and more, I would love to come back to the beach club, and would recommend it to anybody! I had a great time traveling with a group of friends, but it would also be a perfect spot to bring a family, or a great place to travel to as a couple. This was definitely the best vacation I have ever been on!

We wanted to get away with our college aged daughters for some family time during the holiday season. Andros Beach Club was perfect for us. Peace and quiet in paradise. Four mile Beach with powder white sand and absolute privacy. (we saw four other people on the beach all week) Jesse and Chelsea are the ultimate hosts! Our other goal was to become certified scuba divers, and after bad experiences at other resorts we succeeded, thanks to Jesse's great skill as a dive instructor. We loved it!

What a wonderful winter escape to the beautiful and unspoiled island of South Andros, Bahamas. My friend and I chose the Andros Beach Resort for a week of relaxation, and freediving, spearfishing, snorkeling, and we were spoiled. Owner Jesse Leopold and his fiance, Chelsea, run an excellent resort that has the look and ambiance of a funky beach house -- colorful, comfortable, well-equipped with books, DVDs, music, wireless internet. There are two king bedrooms, each with a bathroom and one with an outdoor shower, a large kitchen/living room, dining table and hammock on the long screened porch, another hammock just outside the house, and a cabana and beach chaits just a few steps away on the totally secluded beach. , We went out freediving/spearfishing/snorkeling every day on Roggie's boat , and brought home lionfish, grouper, triggerfish, hogfish, lobster, which we cooked for dinner every night. We also went to a local restaurant for fresh cracked conch, and saw the restaurant owner and his fisherman cleaning the meat out of the shells at the dock. Afternoons, I explored part of the island on one of the bicycles, meeting some fo the friendly locals and shooting photographs. One day, Jesse and Chelsea took us on a hike through the pristine forest to an old fort near the highest point on the island. We had 360 degree, uninterrupted views of South Andros. Our week at Andros Beach Resort was so relaxing, so peaceful. The service throughout the week was excellent, and booking the vacation was easily handled by email. Jesse and Chelsea are excellent hosts, chefs, tour guides, mates. Jesse, in particular has extensive knowledge of the island and all it has to offer after living there for several years and vacationing in the area for several years previous. And, I cannot forget to mention their super friendly dogs, Duke and Riley, who always greeted us with enthusiastic tail wags and kisses! If you are looking for peace and quite away from crowds and touristy attractions, South Andros Island is the place. The unspoiled beauty and laid-back lifestyle will make you want to stay another week or two or look at buying a vacation home on the island. Highly recommended, and I will definitely return.

Andros Beach Club is a real getaway. Totally unplugged (although there is internet and Direct TV if you want it), which gives you time to really enjoy the beauty of the island. One of the best beaches I have been to- great for running, swimming, snorkeling, and bonefishing. Jesse and Chelsea are great hosts- there when you need them, and they have great connections on the island to get you what you need and want. Duke and Riley (their dogs) were very entertaining and provide companionship on beach walks! The local residents are amazingly friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful time at the Andros Beach Club. We stayed in a cute bachelor suite that had a private kitchenette. We stayed at the Beach Club for 1 week. Jesse and Chelsea (the owners) are great people and were very inviting. Of course the beaches in the Carribean are amazing but it is important to state that the sand at Andros Beach Club was the finest smoothest sand we found anywhere on the island. The Beach Club is in close proximatey to many fishing lodges and Jesse is on good terms with many local guides. Also if you bring your own rod you can fish on your own from the beach or the dock close to the Beach Club. Jesse is a Diving Instructor, who certifies and guides diving expeditions. If you are a diver or enjoy snorkling then Jesse is the man you want to get in touch with regardless of where you stay. Also Duke and Reiley (Jesse and Chelsea's dogs) are great company and will latch onto you, following you on your outings to the beach and the store. If you are looking for a private location to stay that will allow you to venture out on your own, mingle with the locals and take a stroll along miles of secluded beach, then we highly recommend the Andros Beach Club. Thanks Jesse and Chelsea for all the hospitality, our stay with you made our trip!

Relaxed House & Great Beach near Great Bonefishing

Guest: Dan
Date of Stay: 11/12/09 Review Submitted: 02/20/11

I have stayed here twice, once with my family and once with a fishing buddy. It is a great place and we will be back again. The house is on a very nice beach with good swimming and good beach walking and relaxing. The house is informal with an open format with two bedrooms and some open areas that can sleep a number more people. Great place to relax, with as much or little agenda as you like. The owners live in an attached "apartment" and strike a great balance between being available and helpful and letting the guests have their own vacation. A plus is that the owner, Jesse, has a great relationship with the local guides, pilots, cooks, taxi drivers etc, all of which can help optimize a trip. This is an ideal place to consider if you are interested in spending time on the beach and/or taking advantage of what South Andros has to offer--mainly bone fishing, blue water fishing, diving/snorkeling, and the outdoors including the beach and blue holes. Bone fishing on the island is phenomenal and excellent independent guides can be arranged in advance. The house works equally well if you want to bone fish some or all the days of a visit. Jesse is a dive instructor and he and Chelsea did a great job teaching our children to dive during the course of a week. It is important to understand the main appeal of S Andros is the out of doors, and this is not the place for someone looking for a variety of social activities. There is restaurant about a mile from the house which serves good local fare. Groceries on the island are basic so bringing some items (Jesse can advise in advance) is worthwhile.

Mary – an extremely pleasant woman and a great cook of Bahamian cuisine more than satisfies even those with the biggest of appetites (i.e. me). My personal favorite was cracked conch. Chelsea will sure spoil you with homemade cookies , banana bread, and many more awesome manifestations of her culinary genius. With the all inclusive experience all you have to do is ask and you shall receive. You wake up every morning looking at the beach and deciding how to occupy your time.

When my wife and I were looking for a new beach front vacation we discovered the Andros Beach Club after a web-search. If you have been put off from traveling to the Bahamas because you didn't want the Nassau "scene" then the Beach Club might be what you're looking for..it was for us! The Beach House is a comfortable, funky get away with complete privacy and a wonderful beach. Jesse and Chelsea are greats hosts who will do everything to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Fishing: Just have Rogee take you to "the bouy". The best Mahi fishing I have ever experienced! Tuna season is supposed to be even better--wow. Snorkeling. Very good. The water visability was exceptional, thoughthe water temp. was about 5 degrees cooler than I am used to in the Caribbean. Dining..Try Elanor's. Call ahead during the early aftenoon and have her make up some cracked conch and splurge with a home-made cheese cake that rivals anything I've had. Groceries. The Sea View is the best provisioned of the small markets that dot the island. The fresh baked bread is fantastic and is available once a week. Bugs. What bugs? Not a bite. Hospitality. Here is where Jesse, Chelsea and the entire South Andros community really shines. I have never encountered the level of hospitality as I have experienced on South Andros. During our stay I needed a piece of electronic equipment for my "Ham Radio" station that I brought with me. Initially I thought I would need to fly back to Nassau to pick up what I needed. Jesse arranged to have an acquaintance pick up what I needed and deliver it to the supply boat in time for me to recieve it within 24 hours. This saved me time and the ticket back to Nassau. These were total strangers helping me out. Fantastic. Try that on some mega-resort. I don't think so. Are we going back? You bet.

What An Amazing Place

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Andros Beach Club for the last three weeks of February 2009. Jesse and Chelsea couldn't have been better hosts if they tried, yet they still did! We even enjoyed every minute of playing with their dogs, and still miss them. The house is great, especially considering you are in the middle of unspoiled, and what almost feels like uncharted, beauty. The beach is gigantic and you can walk for an hour and still have miles to go. Even on the one day I didn't scuba dive I took one of their Kayaks out to the reef and speared lobster for dinner. Jesse owns the house and is partnered with a captain named Roggie. I couldn't say enough about his skill and friendly demeanor as a charter operator. We caught so much Mahi and Wahoo we were giving it away, literally. His boat is fantastic and with Jesse as a dive guide you can't go wrong. Roggie actually had Tiger Woods out on his boat a little while back if that tells you anything. The one day it was too rough to go to sea for diving I had the distinct pleasure of diving an in-land blue hole called El Dorado thanks to Jesse's knowledge of the island. After hundreds of dives all over the Carribean it was the first jaw-dropper I have experienced in quite a while because of the abundance of dives I have done. It is not to be missed by any card-carrying dive junkie. If you want room service, screaming children and buffet dining South Andros is not the place for you. If you're after unspoiled reef diving, spear fishing, deep-sea fishing, reef fishing, bone fishing, cave diving, and generally exploring look no further... This is the place for you...

Piece of Paradise

We were at Andros Beach Club June 30 - July 5. This is our second trip to South Andros and we call it our piece of paradise! We went snorkeling on the beach from the house and found a total of 450 sanddollars, it was amazing, the teenagers said it was like looking for easter eggs. We spent every morning on the porch overlooking the ocean and napped in the hammock on the porch every afternoon. The evenings were spent up top on the sundeck looking at amazing stars we didn't know existed. We have seen some of the most gorgeous underwater life on our snorkeling adventures and have caught some tremendous size tuna on our fishing excursions. There is no place like South Andros if you are looking to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer! We have made some wonderful friends on the island and will definitely be back.

Best Vacation of All Time

We came to be in South Andros because my wife was the top bidder during a live auction, on a special vacation package to the Andros Beach Club in the Bahamas. The charity benefited but we were the real winners. Five days of seclusion on a private beach property that you have to see to believe actually exists. We saw two people all week on the beach, and they were almost a quarter mile away. You come to Andros for privacy and seclusion. Not that our home state of Vermont isn't secluded and at times private. But we don't have crystal blue water and white sandy beaches...or conch. It was easily the most relaxing vacation I ever experienced. All day on the beach, swimming, kayaking and snorkeling and then family dinners on the screened porch where the family actually sat long after the meals to discuss the days events. If you have a stressful job, and who doesn't, you know it takes some time to decompress. At Andros its almost immediate...and that's great because it gives you even more time to relax! Its a perfect ten. Oh..and a perfect tan!

The Best Kept Secret of the Bahamas

My husband and I have been to this lovely Andros Beach Club three times, and are planning our fourth visit next winter. We love the different seasons, as the water never changes, however other things do. In the winter, the sky is clearer and not as many clouds. The diving is great any time of the year, as well as the snorkeling. We enjoyed our latest visit in March 2006. It was perfect, the water was nice, the sun hot, but not biting, and we could walk for miles on the beach. You can see the crabs take their nocturnal trip to the sea almost any time of the year, and it is wonderful to watch. South Andros has it's own charm, being a very unspoiled place to visit. There are plenty of birds, flowers, and there is an abundance of local fish any time of the year. We enjoy biking, hiking to the blue hole on land as well as diving into them in the sea. I don't think that I have ever had such a relaxing vacation as I have in South Andros. However, there is really no shopping, other than for food and sundries and this keeps the crowds away. The cruise ships can't dock here, so that is a plus, as it keeps everything at bay and in tact. You do see ships going north and south out in the horizon. We love the beautiful beaches, the warm and friendly people, and would come back again and again. I hope that these pictures show the love we have of South Andros Island, Bahamas.
